  1. I'm curious about this... Holding the trigger to the rear or just pressing to release the hammer while riding it forward? I haven't heard of this before, and would like to know a little more! During double action pull, if I press the trigger very slowly the hammer will not fall when the trigger is fully pressed. I've found other reports of the same thing in other forums but it seems to be pretty rare. Seems to be a fitting problem.
  2. So I called the folks at CGW and they helped me troubleshoot over the phone. They advised to to color the disco with a Sharpie, install and remove it and check the ink on the disco for rubbing. The next step is to begin removing material. I've elected to send my gun to CGW for professional fitting. +1 for the excellent customer service at CGW.
  3. Correction- I was attempting to elliminate pretravel, not overtravel.
  4. I was very excited when my package from Cajun Gun works arrived. I orded the "Disco" disconnector for installation on my 9mm Shadow. The CGW website claims that the part drops in without fitting 90% of the time and I'm now assuming that I may be in that unlucky 10% After the difficult process of hammering the pin out of the original disconnector, I installed the CGW Disco, reassembled my pistol and voila... wonderfully crisp reset and zero overtravel. Problem is... the trigger break with the Disco installed was very mushy and there was a millimeter or more of creep in the singel action press. Double action pull was very smooth and felt lighter, but if I pressed the trigger slowly, I could push the trigger all the way to the rear and the hammer would not fall. I uninstalled and reinstalled the parts with the same result. After going through 5 stages of grief, I put the origianl disconnector back in the gun and I'm back where I started with a nice crisp trigger break and miles of overtravel. Anyone else have experience with the Disco in a Shadow or other 75 platform?

  6. The Cubans used them in Red Dawn. And the track suit guy from Behind Enemy Lines had one. #smartass
  7. Hello wheelgun guys. I've been shooting autoloaders in Production (B class) and Single Stack (C class) for several years. I recently got certified to teach NRA basic pistol courses but to do so I will need to have a single action only revolver and a double action revolver to teach loading and unloading processes. I have never owned a revolver. Soooo.... I could buy a Taurus POS and a single action .22 on the cheap, but why do that when I could learn to play a new game? I've fired maybe 50 rounds though revolvers in my shooing carreer- all .357/38 or .22. I plan to start bugging the local wheelgun guys at the next local match (Atlanta) but in the meantime... What are the most popular revolvers for USPSA/IDPA? How much should I expect to spend on a double action pistol for the game? What caliber should I be looking for? (I reload on a Dillon 550)
  8. Wolf 55 gr cheapo bulk inside 100 yards Hornady Steel Match 75 gr past that.
  9. Ok that settles it. Thanks guys!
  10. I'm gearing up to shoot my first 3 gun match and one of the questions I have is- how do I get my Shadow ready? I currently use it in USPSA production, but from what I've read a limited gun setup is legal in most 3 gun matches. Is it worth spending the money to get +2.5 base pads (140mm) or should I just use the regular 19 rd mags? I'm also considering shooting in USPSA limited division to get accustomed to the higher capacity. Any thoughts on this subject? Burningsquirrels- I expect you have something to say
  11. I learned to pace myself during wods and have found my progress improved. Its tempting to blow it out at the beginning with all the loud music and shouting but after being stupid sore after work outs for a couple of weeks I decided there was no dishonor in pacing myself and pushing hard at the end instead. After about 6 months of awkwardly flopping around on the pull up bar I finally learned to do kips! My ego has also been well tempered by all the times I get smoked by girls at the gym. Used to it now. Crossfit!
  12. Watch the Equipment exchange on AR-15.com I just picked up an amazing rifle for 1K, (no optic though) My link You should be able to find something similar to the top rifle for 1k or less (mine ) if you're patient. Good luck!
  13. I'm a professional musician and I'm very careful with my hearing protection. I went to an ENT specialist and had some custom plugs made with filters. They were ok but the custom plugs I had made by a earinc.com rep at a match are the greatest thing ever.
  14. Maxpedition Falcon II. Great bag and plenty of storage, but I want individual sleeves for my mags. Think I'll go with Midway or California Competition works
  15. Currently loading Montana Gold 124s over titgroup for my shadow to eat. Thinking of trying MG 147s. Anybody have experience with them?
  16. I'm currently loading MG 124s for my CZ shadow in production but I'm thinking of trying the 147s and MG has good prices. Anybody have an opinion? Recipes?
  17. I shoot a Shadow in production. It has broken down on me twice in the last two months because I didn't replace the springs when I should have. My backup is a Glock 26 I've enjoyed shooting my 1911 while I wait for my Midway order. My advice- always have extra springs and maybe an extra take down lever. And a Glock for emergencies
  18. That's what I use. What kind of mags are you talking? SV/STI or Glock/M&P etc? I never saw the need for a mag bag until I started using my STI mags. I just dumped my Glock mags in on top of my ammo boxes. You can't hurt 'em'. I usually shoot a CZ shadow and occasionally a 1911. Used to shoot a G34 and whenever something breaks on the CZ I think, if I still has a Glock...
  19. I'm getting tired of my mags floating around my range bag and its time to do something about it. I recently purchased a maxpedition backpack with lots of room, but no dedicated mag storage. I've seen lots of folks using nylon magazine storage pouches and I'm thinking this is the way to go. What works for you?
  20. +1 for Steve Anderson's "Refinement and Repetition"
  21. I love these episodes! When I'm introducing someone to USPSA for the first time I show them these guys' channel. I think they represent the sport well.
  22. I have practiced a lot with a SIRT pistol and have not developed a poor sight picture as result. You can see the laser in your peripheral vision without losing front sight focus. Or you can ignore the laser completely. Its also fun to freak out the squirrels in my back yard with the laser
