  1. Thanks for all the comments everyone. FWIW, I checked PractiScore and 10 more points wouldn't have changed my standings so no harm there. After 20 + years of this you would think you know it all....ha .. As for Rules Guru, he's actually our most experiened RO, going to Nationals and such.
  2. Thanks for the feedback. The match was a Level 1, club match. There was nothing in the WSB about this target. The Activator was a step-pad. The Upper A-B was fully exposed at rest. I thought it was faster to run past the step-pad and engage the Upper A-B. Which I did and which worked..... then the procedural ??? If it ain't in the WSB, how can you give me a penalty for engaging and exposed target, at a safe angle of fire ???? I stated all the above to the MD and he said "penalty", which our resident Rules Guru had called once before ...
  3. There are two bullet holes in the Upper A-B and your telling me I get TWO MIKES and and FTE ????? What's wrong with this picture ? I agree with Strick...It was not necessary to move the No-Shoot to expose the target ...
  4. Yesterday I shot a stage where I was given a procedural error. The target was on a Max-Trap which had a no-shoot in front of it. The entire upper A-B zone was visible on the scoring target. Therefore, I did not activate the Max-Trap. I took, and scored, two on the upper A-B. I felt I didn't need to move the no-shoot as there was plenty of target visible. I was given a procedural for failure to activate, which I thought was wrong. It was not in the WSB. Any thoughts ??? 9.9.3 Moving scoring targets will always incur failure to shoot at and miss penalties if a competitor fails to activate the mechanism which initiates the target movement. This includes no-shoot targets that must be activated when in front of scoring targets to expose them, penalties are based on number of shots required for the scoring target(s) behind the no-shoot.
  5. Over the past many years I have made this "error" twice with green shooters. I looked around the range, saw all was clear, and the first word I uttered was "OK". These newbies reached for their pistol and had it out of the holster far enough that I could have technically DQ'ed them. I stopped the shooters and explained to them that I screwed up. I explained to them what the proper range commands are and that "OK" was not one of them. I did not DQ either shooter. Has anything like this been arbitrated at a "BIG" match ???
  6. I didn't see it mentioned. What about rule 2.2.1.5 ?? Off Limit Lines. It says you can use rope or tape.....
  7. To all of you "we just shoot for fun guys" take a look at the latest Front Sight magazine, July/August 2013. Club Connections - Ignorance or Apathy - Troy McManus - page 18 Level 1 Exemptions - Art Brown - page 25 USPSA is working hard to build a sport....I think they have just spoken...Len
  8. I wasn't the RO on this stage but, if I was I doubt I would have given a penalty. The shooter more than doubled his usual time...ouch... As a solution I think "if a reload is needed it must come from the table" should be removed. Starting with ammo on the table is good enough.....Len "...without rules there's chaos" -- Kramer
  9. Our club shot TableStakes again. Yes, I had the chair in the correct location and I remained seated ! (I posted about this stage last Dec.) We had a shooter who had some bad luck on this stage. He loaded his gun from the table, raised the gun to shoot, and the mag fell out. He retrieved that same mag from the table, raised the gun, and the mag fell out again. This time, the mag fell to the ground and he retrieved it from the ground, and proceeded to shoot the stage successfully. from course description: All ammo for the stage must start on the table. If a reload is needed, it must come from ammo on the table. His ammo started on the table, but his last attempt to load came from ammo on the ground. How do you score this one ??? procedural ??? (the time lost was quite a penalty in itself.) just curious.....Len
  10. I do not disagree with any of the comments posted on this one. Having built so many stages myself, I would have put something specific about the chair in the written description, but that's just me. I shot this stage sitting down in the past and discovered I pull shots a little low when sitting. So, this time I stood up and had a mike who knows where ??? !!! grrrrr..... Our small club is very lucky to have some good RO's. We have one fellow who carries a laminated xerox copy of the DQ rules in his pocket at all times. We call him Doctor DQ........
  11. This past weekend our club used classifier 09-13, Table Stakes. The start position is seated fully in chair, gun and ammo to be used must be on table. The procedure is to engage targets from within shooting box. When it was my turn to shoot I placed a leg (or two) of the chair outside the shooting box. I planned to stand up and engage the targets from within the box. The RO said the chair had to be within the box. I pointed out there was nothing in the written COF as to the start location of the chair. His reply was that the drawing showed the chair inside the shooting box. I believe the location of the chair at the start does not matter. It would be in the written description. Was the RO correct or can I move the chair? (I started with the chair in the box)........Len
