Thanks, This is sorta a follow up post to "Help me pick my gun", but topic was digressing enough that I thought I should ask this as separate thread. I decided to use the older M1 I have, I found a 28" barrel to cut. (I have a 28" barrel on it now, but hate to loose my bird gun) So I will keep mine and cut the new to me barrel. I am debating just sending the gun to Benny, but as I am just starting out with 3 gun it seems like it might be a bit excessive to spend $925 and $150-250 on barrel cutting and choked. I was thinking I would cut it 21"-22" and try to have it fitted for the benelli chokes I have. I was planning on sending it to Briley; unless there is another recommended place. If I go 21-22" the plus 6 Nordic that should stick out just a bit past the barrel, correct? If I remember I can ghost load now as mine Benelli is from the around 1990, and I recall pressing the red button and getting a extra shell in; (I just pulled the gun out of the safe and all my shells were at another residence so I haven't rechecked) So +6, Limbsaver, what brand charging handle, larger bolt release, nordic barrel clamp. Brownells didn't show Nordic charging handel or the +6; I have a viking tactical sling on my SCAR and will probably get same for M1, is there a preferred front sling mounting point? I haven't priced this all out, is there a point it economically makes more sense to have Benny does all the above and more for not much more cost? Just scared I will order all this, put it on; decide to have benny work it over and realize I should have let him do it all....and maybe he runs different brands? I found a used 28" barrel ribbed for $160 locally I guess I can send it to Briley and have it cut and tapped for chokes? Then I still have my barrel for bird hunting Seems like the best deal Any advice before I cut? Thanks Bryan

thanks for all the info I haven't gotten a price on the m1 barrel, told it was a 28" ribbed barrel. What's a fair price? The dealer said it was about $150 the last time they sent one in tp briley Starting to think that using my M1 is best, use the gun I have for now. Is the m2 stock that much better? Don't guess they can be adapted?

thanks, The prudent thing is to wait and shoot a few matches. But the thrill of the hunt is fun, I do need to figure out what "class" I need....good advice. I found a 28" ribbed barrel, waiting for a price on it. That makes the most sense to get it cut; and retain the old barrel. or trade the other guns I have to trade in for a 11026. Thanks

thanks, I had seen that post, since I had an M1 I had another variable to consider. I called Benny and got a bit of advise on why M2 over M1 if I were to shop, feel better about the choices after talking to him. I did find a shop that has alot of Benelli barrels "in the back" they were guessing them to be 18-20" barrels I will follow up if they are worth while Thanks

Thank you for allowing me to ask, I have been shooting on and off for 20 years, and had the pleasure of shooting the 3 day pistol/carbine at Tigerswan recently. But shotguns for three gun are new to me. I haven't done a 3 gun match yet. I just joined a range (Ant Hill in Southport, NC) and have a 3 gun in two weeks. I did shoot the steel challenge a few weeks ago and was happy with my performance and had a blast. I have a '94ish model Benelli M1 from my duck hunting days, but the barrel is 27/28" inches long. From my reading of posts here, I gather that's just too long? I have a Remington Marine Magnum rigged for home defense, but its a pump and don't think it has chokes. I will probably borrow a friends Benelli for the match, but I have sold and am selling a few pistols from the safe and would like to not screw around with poor choices and go ahead and get something nice from the start. (granted that's a relative term, but $1000-$2000 is within the range I think it would take) I saw a FN (traditional stock) yesterday that sparked my interest, it was traded back in shortly after its purchase and I was thinking it would be perfect. But as I read I see Benelli M1/M2 seems to be the crowd pleaser lately. (not that following the crowd is always right, but I tend to take some chances with things that don't pan out; to find out there are valid reasons for others choices) Then I started reading about the Saiga, I am not sure of its place in the ranking. Sounds like a project gun, not sure If the payoff is that great for me relative to the effort; but please correct me if I am off on that. So my question: can you find a 21/24" barrel for the m1 anywhere. Perhaps add a tube and call it a day for now. Then if desired send it to Benny Hill. If the 21/24" barrel is made from unobtainium like lots of things, what other model shotgun should I seek out. (I hate to cut the barrel and loose my duck gun, but guess I could if that made the most sense economically; maybe upgrade to 3 1/2 if I ever bird hunt again) A dealer has in his home safe an old HK benelli tactical with Ghost ring sights. I gathered that the barrel may not be ribbed and it may be shorter and/or have some else that makes it less desirable?? Help me on this one as I hope to look at it tonight. If I hunt for a new or new to me gun what model should I look for? M1/M2? Also I was surprised to see lots running traditional stock; I figured 99.9% would be pistol grip. Is there a reason (like can't use feed tube) or just preference. I am lefty and not sure if one gun is more ambi friendly (I recall I flipped the safety in my old M1) Sorry for a million questions, but thought that a bit of information on what I am thinking may narrow down the random responses that I would have to go back and answer. I have read pages and pages of posts here, but thought a question might narrow my focus and gun search Don't have an open pistol now (shooting glock 17 gen 4 and just picked up a g35, and run T1 on my SCAR) if that matters
