Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Looks like fluted is the winner. I was thinking a slightly muzzle heavy barrel(not heavy full length)provided a more steady sight picture for off-hand shooting. While I can appreciate the lighter more maneuverable fluting effect, what is the impact on the sight picture?
  2. I plan to replace my AR15 16" 5.56 barrel but I need help understanding which configuration fluted or bull is the best way to go. What are the advantages and disadvantages of these barrel types?
  3. Thanks for the help. As suggested I need to dry fire a lot. I notice when dry firing that I have a tendency to jerk the trigger making my front sight move to the right. I'm just getting back into shooting after being away for about 10 years.
  4. I'm left handed and my rounds are to the right of center at 20 yrds. I think that indicates too little trigger finger. My hands are small and I've installed a Wilson short trigger on my kimber CDP II. I've tried different trigger positions from tip of the pad to the first joint but see no effect. I did find some success but not what I expected. What I did was to relax all the tension in my shoulders, arms, and even in my grip (slow shots BTW). It surprised me that I was able to relax my grip and still maintain control over my .45. What I take from that is that somehow my tension is causing my problem. Even with a firm grip I try not to apply pressure against the other hand. Which I think is a neutral grip. I'm guessing that one of these muscle groups is applying uneven pressure. The question is which one? How do I figure that out?
