  1. If you are talking about the tubes only, you are correct. They are the same for 9mm and 38 super. The package is probably marked that way because there is no spacer in the package. Is that correct? If you are talking about complete magazines then the springs and followers would be different between the two. The 9mm would be shorter to allow room for the spacers to fit in the tube. So, they would be marked different. I have both 9mm and 38 super and I can change the springs between them. My 9mm STI runs fine with the 38 super springs and followers. So, my mags will interchange between my open gun and the 9mm gun. I hope I am making sence.
  2. I had my 550 before they added the failsafe arm. I can tell you that the powder measure will stick open from time to time. Then when you seat the primer and jar the press the spring will close the measure and dump powder all over the press and your bench. I was talking about the arm on the powder measure not the rod. My bad.
  3. hm. This sounds interesting. It might explain the harsh recoil? That is what I was thinking!
  4. Let me through this crazy idea out there! With a smaller charge could the powder be just at the bottom of the case? If so, could the primer flash across the top of the powder and drive the bullet into the lands and then have the powder burn and have to start pushing the bullet from a dead stop? Like I said, may be a crazy idea.
  5. I paid under $300 for the PVD coating. But that was with him building my open gun. I have no idea what he would charge if you sent him your gun. Give him a call, I am sure he would answer any questions. STU
  6. This is a picture of one in Copper Canyon that I saw at Matt's shop. STU OOPS I did not get the picture to post.
  7. The coating is called a ( PVD ) coating. I had Matt build me an open gun a couple of months ago and that is what is on my invoice. I will be taking the gun back after the first of the year to have the coating put on. I think the picture above is of what they call "Copper Canyon" It runs from green to blue and copper. Each gun will look different because of the process used. I will get a picture when mine comes back. STU
  8. Thanks for the info. Matt has gone Elk hunting for 2 weeks so I won't hear anything about my new gun for awhile.
  9. I agree with GForceLizard you may need to have a gunsmith recut and polish the throat of you barrel.
  10. What yardage did you zero your sights? Did you use the 25yds? I have my first open gun being built (by Matt McLearn) and it will have a Quinn II mount. So I have been following your posts.
  11. Welcome to the forum. I love Alaska!
  12. I went down to the Valley today and picked up some powder and primers from Gary B. and he was heading out there this afternoon. Sounds like fun. I will have to come down and shoot one of these days. Thanks
  13. I am in the White Mountains of Arizona and I was looking for some info on loading 38super comp and found this site. I have a new Open Gun being built by Matt McLearn of M2i Tactical. Great info on the site. Just wanted to say HI.
