Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. When you all talk about a welded lifter on a Benelli M2, is this something that has to be done to the lifter or is it an after market part? Who does this work? Any pics of the before and after? I'm pretty sure I know what it is since the first time I practiced speed loading at the range, I shaved a few mils of thickness off of my thumbnail. Sky
  2. Thanks for all of the replies. Lots of info to mull over.
  3. For close in targets, I thought I would do what I've seen others do and that is to mount my red dot on a 45 mount. Looking at the Vortex offerings, does the 4-16x give adequate magnification on a 400 yard target? Would the 6-24x be too much? I "think" I like the idea of the reticle being on the FFP...hence I'm asking about their two scopes with FFP in the Viper line. Thanks again!
  4. I've read lots of threads in regard to scopes for 3-gun/multigun. It seems many use, or advocate, 1-4x. I have limited experience with rifle scopes. I use a red dot for defensive classes and the few multigun shoots I've attended. I've looked through others' scopes at the range and even at 9x, I didn't think the 200 meter targets looked all that "close". Weak eyes or just lack of experience? I've been researching scopes and Vortex Viper's appear to get a lot of positive comments. Is the 2.5-10x too much for 200 yards? One of the clubs I shot a multigun at had some targets out to 450 yards. With my red dot, I was just guessing and NOT hitting anything. Thanks for the help. Sky
  5. I use a noise cancelling headset daily in my flying job. When I was researching muffs for shooting, I found that the electronic muffs geared towards the shooting sports were not noise cancelling, rather they start to "filter" sound at a preset db threshold. Basic noise reduction wasn't much better than ear plugs. I had some custom ear plugs made that work very well, although the spoken word is slightly muffled. I called Bose, the maker of our aviation headsets, and asked if they'd work for shooting. The explanation I got was that noise cancelling can't keep up with the spike in noise level that is produced by a firing gun. Just my two cents. S
  6. I don't see the extended cap on Brownell's site. What about a larger bolt release...options?
  7. I have an M2 Field 21". From searching the threads, a lot of you have positive comments on the Nordic products. If I understand, the +5 tube gets me to 8+1 in the gun? Good place to shop that would also carry the bracket...Midway doesn't appear to have the bracket. And, do the Nordic brackets have the sling swivel slot? Any other brand of mag extension I should consider? Thanks
