is there a difference between a barrel weight and a compensator?
there is a discussion about "ad on" barrelweights being legal for IPSC limited... what is the difinition of a compensator?

we shoot match 5 as a competition here. so we shoot sitting, prone, left hand barricade, right hand barricade on the scaled down target.
left and richt are dead center, sitting and prone low
or it coulbe sitting and prone center, left and right high :-)
I have good eyes, if it doesn't get all centered I can try neck hold or adjust the sight for left right aiming just under 10 and sitting and prone center hold. my revolver has an aristocrat 3 set sight rib, so the other stages of match5 are no problem.
next time I pick my open revolver with aimpoint and see if there is a difference in open/iron sights shooting revolver
I did over 100 round only sitting and prone maybe my eyes were getting tired. sometimes my front sight faded away against the black target. could also be the lighting of the indoor range

we shoot at 25m on scaled down targets and I have always aimed center, not neck hold. I'm training the neckhold but I'm not yet as good as centerhold (I think)
did my last practice without glasses to eliminate them as a problem.
I can remember in my early days shooting a big hole sitting @ 25m low in the 10 ring (allmost all x and 10 butt in the lower half) but not this low verry low in the 9ring.

last weeks I'm shooting a lot of PPC (for me), it's been a few years since my last competition.
over here we don't have much 50m ranges so we shoot scaled down 50y targets... 99.9% indoor
years back I didn't have trouble shooting sitting and prone with my revo, with my pistol I had to aim just under the 10 shooting prone. (I don't use a neck hold)
now I'm shooting prone & sitting low in the 9 ring with my revo ... I took my Browning Buckmark .22 with aimpoint scope to check every position. with the BM I can hold x/10 ring accuracy in al positions. used my open revolver to dry fire at home to check how steady my positions are and did a lot of dry fire with my PPC revo.
with optic no problem, without I'm shooting low
I can shoot master scores and I think solving my problems sitting and prone I can move up to high master scores

since you are in Europe (I'm from Belgium) you can buy SVI in Germany by Jurgen Flass... you want to go to Germany for repair work/waranty?
the SIG 1911 is made in USA, the Belgian imorter told me it is hard to get original parts... plenty of 1911 parts on the internet...
the S&W is with an external extractor, some say it is better... get 1 spare as replacement part
my choise would be a STI (Trojan or a sentry), you can choose ether bushing or bull barrel. get a custom bushing and swap the thumbsafety with a Wilson Combat.
al production guns need a triggerjob (exept the SVI)
in Belgium you can buy 2 STI pistols or 1 SVI for the same price. SVI is not always 100%

I load 7.1gr N350 for 124gr COL 30mm (pf 171)
same load under a 115gr bullet
my trubor barrel like loads around pf170

K'Nill grips from Germany (I believe they are sold under Roco in the US)
you are lucky, here in Europe they are more than 50% more in price

is there a little bit of room under the barrel ramp? (I believe the messurement from the rails to the bottom of the slot is .300)
barrel should rest at the frame rails not on the cut-out in the frame. mark your barrelramp with a sharpie and cycle, check for contact
when the barrel is in linkdown there should be adequate room between the slide and barrel
make sure the barrelramp is not sticking into the frame

wat is the best way to get a 3lbs triggerpull (for certain competitions)
I've installed a competition hammer and put a verry little secundairy angle on the sear so there is no creep... I like to keep this.
I prefer to increase the pretravel and not increasing the mainspring tension
I see the TS frame has the cutout for a DA/SA triggerspring, can I use a SP01 triggerreturnspring?

try to remove a bit from the inside of the extractor so it cams in a little more if it hits the extractor tunnel you can give as much tension you want
make sure there is a 9mm extractor in your gun (on a STI extractor the caliber is on the inside)
-
check if the extractor tip does not touch the barrel when in battery
sometimes you can bend the extractor for more tension but when the inside of the extractor touchtes the inside of the extractor tunnel you can bent what you want... remove some of the innerside of the extractor
-
also check for extractor clocking (loose fit between extractor and firingpin stopplate)
-
use a steel punch... you will mark the sight...
sights go out right to left...

here is 1 for example (link to my FB page)
there is no cavity in the lead, the jacked is crimped around the lead core

here in Belgium there are no zero bullets and the XTP is not allowed (hollowpoint)... I hope in the future to get good results with the Geco... I have to build me a new toy first ;-)

Hi
have you guy's tested the new Geco hexagon bullets?
I believe Ralph Vanicek won the 2014 PPC championship (Europe) with these ammo. (he is the sales rep. of Geco)
bullets are also available for reloaders...
http://www.targetsportsusa.com/geco-hexagon-9mm-ammo-124-grain-jhp-289140050-p-57585.aspx
I do not have the equipment to test the bullets myself but maybe they are a good replacement voor the XTP. the round nose profile seems better for reliable feeding

look @ the sig sauer P226 LDC
crisp SA trigger, constant DA pull, SIG accuracy and a decocking lever
I prefer revo's ;-)

drop in triggerkit... means dropped in a bag and ready to sell...
there are so much variables that you can't produce a safe drop in kit for a 2.5lbs trigger...
with the stock STI parts you get far, secundairy cut on the sear, searspring adjustment, lower the hammerhooks...

if you buy an STI
get a good hammer (EGW/KOENIG) and do a triggerjob
trow the recoilmaster away and replace with a full lenght guide rod
tune the extractor and ejector
maybe get a good thumbsafety and pin the gripsafety
save a few hundred dollars for ammo and training
now order a SVI and wait 2 years, when it is ready you know that you need it or not.
I have a friend with 3 SVI sighttrackers... 2 broke down (cracked slides) and are waiting for parts (Europe...) so there is only 1 left for competition.

I've build a 9mm 2011 on STI parts... not a single malfunction
swap the recoilmaster for a full lenght guide rod and a 8 or 10 lbs recoilspring, I build all my 9mm guns with a radius on the FP stopplate like they do on steelguns. the radius is cut just under the fp hole. so there is more leverage on the hammer = easier reloading
I tune my ejector so the tip is not square but a flat tip at about 1/3 of the original ejector height, I also grind a little on the inside of the ejector so the ejector hits the case more on the ouside. so the case is trown more horizontal

I've build a few customs with the trubor T1 barrel.
pistol functions good with factory 9mm with a 8 pound spring (doesn't matter if the slide is lightened)
I love to shoot ammo about a pf of 170 - 172, with a 10lbs spring. (7.1gr N350, 123gr bulet COL 30mm)
I don't use a recoilmaster and use a large radius FP plate.
a good shooter tested my pistol and he told me to use the 8lb spring with major ammo... I like the 10lbs more ;-) , my 9major was shooting flatter/softer than his SVI IMM open 38 super (shorty)

this week I did some triggerwork on 2 Tanfoglio's (older limited and a gold custom .40)
I didn't have spare mainsprings but when I saw the spring it looked like a S&W rebound spring that was on my workbench.
I have them in 11, 12, and 13 lbs (cheap when you buy them by 10 by Wolff)
cut to the correct lenght and you have new mainsprings and you know how heavy your spring is...
I noticed that Tanfoglio custs the mainsprings on the "open class" pistols... I used a 12lbs and cut it to the normal lenght and got the same triggerpull as with the cut factory spring
normaly I don't work on Tanfo... so I didn't know all this
hopefully this is handy for some of you guys

How accurate can a 1911 be? Or any handgun really.
in 1911-style Pistols

take a look at sleeve cones... Jerry Keefer, Joe chambers etc use them and the can build sub 1" 9mm 1911...
they can do it also with bushing and bull barrels
I don't see them using spherical bushings
