  1. No, you whack it while you're inserting it, not after...its all one single motion.
  2. As a fellow lefty, could not agree more. Maybe there is no benefit for right handers, but there certainly is for us. Certainly noticing that to my detriment now with a Shadow, unfortunately.
  3. It's not the measurement from the gun to the belt, but the measurement from the gun to the competitor's torso which is the issue..the measuring must take place with the rig in situ, same as for the all equipment 50mm minimum behind the hipbone rule (obviously heh) Good idea on the hardware store, thanks (bolts should helpfully be metric, plus I own a Dremel) Just not sure if I will be able to source the correct dimension spacers (though if so will probably have to buy a pack of 50 lol)
  4. I kept my mags which had the new followers loaded in my safe with snap caps for 6 months but nope did nothing to make loading easier lol Passed them along to a mate and ended up sourcing some secondhand original mags.
  5. It's a feature, not a bug lol I shot an M&P for 9 years and loved the autoforwarding capacity...wish my Shadow did the same, and thanks to ingrained muscle memory I still often expect it to during a run lol
  6. After using a Bladetech bucket (which tbh sat too close to my body and sometimes trapped my thumb between it and my hipbone, impeding the draw), I settled on a Ghost 3g thunder kydex, it fitted great and felt a whole lot better. Unfortunately, now I have the opposite problem lol...measuring from the closest point of the grip (Shadow v.1) to my body is more than 50mm...by at least 1.5cm. Only thing I can think of doing is cutting the spacers/bolts shorter so the gun will sit closer...but I'd rather have some spares to work with in case I stuff the originals up. Contacted Ghost international to see if they sell spare hardware, but got no reply. Has anyone else had compliance issues with these holsters?

Mags will not drop at all

Thanks gwchem, I wasn't sure of what a magazine brake was tbh but on examination yes, yes it does lol And it does appear to be connecting with the backside of the mag when inserted too...this could wel be the culprit (or, one of them )

Mags will not drop at all

Damn lol sorry for the lack of more specific info. They will not drop freely but are not stuck in the gun as such, you just have to pull them free with a bit of effort. I also found out after posting last night that it is specifically empty mags which will not drop, even one snap cap inserted it enough for it to function OK. Which is far less of an issue, but still on the rare occasion you run dry in a stage, stripping it out by hand before reloading is going to be a PITA, particularly time-wise. I also found out that the importer/his tame gunsmith/whoever it was stripped the mag screw so it was a bit loose when I first checked it out. And to my eyes the spring doesn't fit in the frame exactly centrered either (left leg of the spring seems to be further inward) - if that makes any difference. What I meant re ambidextrous is that the design of the release itself is not mirrored - the cutout for the release on the rh side (in a righty configuration) protrudes into the magwell when swapped over the LH function, see 2nd pic.
  9. I am having just this issue of mags not dropping, TPM, as a lefty as well. The release was allegedly reversed either by the importer himself or his nominated gunsmith...which is why I find your comment "if not done right" kinda disturbing lol I have noticed that the left mag release side (supposedly flush with the frame) is in fact slightly below the level of the trigger guard when a mag is inserted, making it even less likely to be able to drop free. )
  10. Hey guys, After 10 years of shooting an M&P I finally got a barely-used Shadow 1 in January. Have been waiting 6 months for the importer to swap the mag release over (to lefty configuration) with every excuse under the sun given. He was meant to install a pre b disco as well, but that never eventuated. Frustrating enough to wait the times for PTAs etc in Australia as it is but half a year has been well, irritating to say the least. . Finally I thought I'd be able to shoot it...but no mags will release. I'm assuming this is because of the swaparound as the release is not ambidextrous in design (yeah, I know everyone hates lefties lol) but because of this desgin flaw I really don't know where to start in addressing it. Rather not have to poke around with my trigger finger right on the guard groping for the release if I swap it back to RH..in any case because of trigger hand arthritis/nerve issues I dunno if my index finger would have the power to activate it. On the run at speed in the midst of a stage? Ahahahaha, no lol Just wondered if anyone had ideas of how to sort this...like I said, no idea where to start at this point. Cheers
  11. CGW stuff is also available in Australia from Edge Firearms

    Lok grip texture

Yeah some people have bony hands with not much meat on them too (like me) Bogies are fine but I knocked them back with a bit of filing/sanding

    Thin Bogies

Necropost I know, apologies everyone lol Just trawling threads for info on the thin LOKs and noticed these posts about not being happy with the stock LOK colours. FYI (and anyone else interested) you can completely successfully dye G10 a darker shade using Rit clothing dye, and a split coathanger to hold the grips in suspension in the saucepan.

    CZ Trigger

Hey himurax Absolutely but I was really referring to dryfire for double action trigger pulls...since that is the majority of your trigger time (unfortunately)

    CZ Trigger

Yeah I can't see the point in why you'd want to dry fire in single action, considering isn't practising holding a sight picture through a long DA pull the whole point? Have read many reports of people hating the recurve trigger for that very reason, I guess it depends if you have larger hands and thicker fingers (which I definitely don't)
  16. Exactly, glad that worked for you too. Just because the grips dont necessarily fit perfectly does not mean that they need to be replaced or are at fault, for the issue stated here. As I said, swapping them for new ones is not going to change anything if its the metal frame variation. This is the specific video Blake linked me to explaining the issue, its a Tanfog but illustrates what is happening. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lCFO0ugOvA

    CZ Trigger

I have only ever shot a striker fired gun (M&P), that Shadow pictured is presently at the importers waiting for him to swap the mag release over to lefty configuration and have a couple of things done to it, I have never shot it as yet. So you'll have to forgive me for ignorance in how as to dry fire a hammer pistol...if not DA every time how else would you be expected to do it?

    CZ Trigger

For reach issues you are lucky enough to be able to source a 75 recurve trigger...this makes a huge difference to the reach (a friend has one in his SP01 from about 15 years ago when they were sold here) https://czcustom.com/cz-parts-all/triggers/cz-75-recurve-trigger-05a.html I too have smaller hands and arthritis in my shooting hand which makes even an 11lb hammer spring too painful (thanks to a kickboxing uh, incident years ago!) so can only wish I could buy one from CZ custom...even found and paid for one on ebay until the seller learned that export was against ebay's policies. The roughly 2K a dealer/importer would have to pay for an export licence is something none would undertake, of course....so my only recourse would be to find a kind US resident willing to alllow me to send them the $ for purchase and mail out, unobtrusively. Alas I have no US contacts so that brings me to a dead end on it...unless I can think of another way. A Canadian friend offered to see if he could snag one on a visit south but no go with a non-US credit card. Shooting in a match with only a handful of DA pulls might be fine but any amount of dry firing is out, unless I was to cock it in SA every time, which kinda defeats the purpose really. You can see here my Shadow's trigger at the top, compared to my well worn mate's gun underneath and the significant difference comparing the reach
  20. Use a small fine bastard file to get them to the exact profile you want, that's what I ended up doing. The palm swells I got also didn't quite fit on one side (could feel movement and a clicking sound when squeezed) so contacted them and was advised that with different frame variations this is inevitable...if I was sent another grip it is likely the issue would not change. So added a bit of double sided tape lining the inside edges top & bottom and they are solid now.
  21. I'd hazard a guess it might be OK...but lighter springs (OEM) have always been OK in IPSC rules. I wouldn't see how altering a preexisting spring would be any different however.
  22. Way too long really! Only about five years. . . my mate has about 60K+ in about that time (well that's Master grade for you lol) Only from Jan 1 this year can we install trigger kits with a max 3lbs every shot in IPSC...we are drifting towards USPSA, it seems! Which doesn't please many people (but hey, 99% of Production is CZs here so it was an attempt at vague level playing fielding lol)

    Barrels

Oh I wouldn't say that at all. Even as a D grade shooter my 1.0 is all on paper at 25m...and until I had 2 1/2 years off due to health issues and was still in C grade, pretty much all of them were in the A zone. Mate of mine who is MG has no issue at all with a 3" group with his original and the right ammo.
