  1. So much for a first "revolver" match. $150 is a lot of money for a division that isn't recognized. Looks like I'm going to jump ship and shoot production. Jeremy
  2. This will be my first revolver match and I'm just curious who else is shooting revolver? Jeremy
  3. I just got my NM rack after going through the same decision process. Haven't shot a match yet but have been practicing reloads and i really like how quick and and easy I can get a moon off the post. I got the standoffs and loading the rack from a table is really quick as well! Jeremy
  4. That's a good idea, it's not like moon clips are free and leaving them on a stage can get expensive.
  5. I just picked up some 150gr round nose that are pretty elongated on the nose. Should be perfect, I will load some up this weekend and report back. Jeremy
  6. I carry the same in production, but have never used the 5th mag. I guess I was just seeing a 4 post on the front = 64 + a single post behind the hip = 16 for a total of 80 and was just curious how often one needed that many reloads. But it looks like they are used in different scenarios, not necessary all together which makes a lot of sense now. I just don't want to show up to a match, for the first time, with a wheel gun and run myself out of ammo or realize why a lot of shooter have an extra post behind the hip in the middle of a scenario.
  7. Thanks for all the input guys!! I think I will go with a 4 post setup for the front and a single post to go behind the hip. This will make it easy to reload if I end up in a low position and let me carry up to 10 moons when necessary. Thanks again, Jeremy
  8. Looks to me like the rail is removable on the TRR 8 but is machined into the lug on the M & P 8. Jeremy
  9. Looks like I will just go with the 4 post setup then. I see a lot of guys with a single post behind the revolver. Is this for the initial loading or something else? Thanks, Jeremy
  10. How many reloads are you guys carrying on your belt when using an 8- shooter? I am looking at the NM moon clip holder and the 4 post @ 64 rounds seems like over kill to me. That's more than I carry in production but my first revo match won't be until december. Are you guys leaving a lot of moons on the ground with unfired ammo still in them? Thanks, Jeremy
  11. MWP, They do have one. Thank you very much!! Jeremy
  12. Does anyone know of a U-notch rear sight for revolvers? It's not a must have but it would be nice. Jeremy
  13. Ya, I lucked out on this one. We have different hobbies so we help each other when we can but don't spend a ton of time together because our interests take us in different directions. This was definitely an awesome surprise though!! Looks like the DAA holsters might be the way to go. I am used to production so race gear is a little new to me but no point in not taking all the advantages I can. Heavy round nose bullets and starling brass- understood!! How many moon clips do I need? Enough to cover 6-8 stages or enough to cover an entire match? I want RELIABLE operation, not light primer strikes. The trigger on it feels decent to me but I am new to this, I don't feel that it is too heavy but could be smoothed up a bit. I may buy Jerry's video and go from there. I would like to shoot a few matches before sending it off to a smith. Will add a fiber optic front sight and to some more reading on moon clip holders. Thanks for all the help, I am still open to suggestions if I missed anything, Jeremy
  14. Bladetech for SS and Ready Tactical DOH for production. Production is what I shoot most.
  15. I had been talking about shooting a revolver for a while and my brother decided to make an honest man out of me!! He brought home a 929 today so looks like I will be shooting revolver next year but have no idea on gear, loads, grips, accessories etc. I am starting from scratch on a revolver rig, what do I need and where should I start on loads? I currently run 130gr SWC's at 135pf in my Glocks with WST. I am looking forward to your suggestions, Jeremy
  16. This year I'm shooting all Glocks in competition and I have carried a G19 for that past few years. Next year I am thinking about shooting revolver and am seriously contemplating carrying one as we'll. Jeremy45
  17. Antichrome, Do you use the RLN mag pouches and are you happy with them? Thanks, Jeremy
  18. Thanks for all the info, looks like I will be ordering a KKM barrel shortly!! Jeremy
  19. Hey everyone, I am looking at putting a KKM barrel into my Gen 4 Glock 17. How hard are they to fit and is it necessary to have a gunsmith do it or are some files and patience enough to get it done? I look forward to hearing your input, Jeremy
  20. Great match, I had a lot of fun!! Look forward to doing it again next year. Jeremy
  21. My understanding is they died off primarily because the long slide models do not fit in the IDPA box where the 34/35 do. I know Glock still makes a run of the long guns occasionally but not nearly as often as the other models. Jeremy45
