Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. The only die that is different between 9mm & 38 super is the sizing die/Decapping die.
  2. You can use 9mm seating & crimp dies, you will need a 38 SC sizing die though. Super Auto brass will work with a 9mm shell plate....Super Comp brass with a 380 shell plate.
  3. I have a 6 port Comp & only 1 Poppel hole & it takes 7.9 of AC to get 172PF.
  4. Anyone have any experience with this brand?
  5. What lb spring were you using? Have you chrono'd to see what your PF is? What kind of battering are you seeing?
  6. Not with the LW barrel; did have tight chamber in KKM barrels though.
  7. Exactly. In any 'Run & Gun' you don't need to have your gun go into slide lock; with the 'possible' exception of Production Division & IDPA. I shot L10 for 15 years & disabled the slide lock on whatever gun I was using. Mantra in L10 & Production: Move = reload.
  8. Been loading for 20 yrs & this guys absolutely right.
  9. I've shot CZ's for years. 9mm & 40. If you're shooting a 9mm to Minor Power Factor (125pf is minimum) you want to load to 128 to 132pf - personally I would keep it at 132 just to make sure. With light loads such as these, I wouldn't use a recoil spring higher than 14lb. Stiffer loads (self defense)you may want to go to a 16lb. Doesn't matter so much what the grain of bullet used, FMJ or lead either, the main concern is the load. A 115 grain 9mm fps of 1100 will give you 128 pf; that will work in USPSA's Production Division. It will take down the steel poppers (as long as they are calibrated correctly). I preferred a 147 grain at 128 to 130 pf (approx.900fps) this load seemed softer, more accurate & took down the steel easier. Test some 115's & 147's to see what you prefer before buying in quantity. If you need suggestions on powders/loads, let me know, I've tried allot of them. Good luck...
  10. Better to loose velocity than to shoot squibs!
  11. Thanks for your advice. 4756 is on my list; 105 as well, however, it is pricey. For that kind of money, all 'A' zone hits should be guaranteed! Don't I wish. How many grains of each for the 121 MG to make 170PF?
  12. I've used BD in the past 20 yrs for 45 & some magnum loads. I am new to 38 Super - age = bad eyes = RED DOT!! I am loving this gun. It was made by Cameron Custom here in Phoenix AZ. I have tried AutoComp which works very well. 3N38 was OK, same grains as the BD (almost) to make Major, 10.5 = 171PF. 7625 made my Dot dip & wobble a bit. Tried AA7, dirty & more violent. I would like to try Silhouette since I've read quite a few posts on this forum & people seem to really like it. And of course, the experimenter in me just wants an excuse to load & shoot! Seriously though, I want to just settle into the load that works for me. Fortunately, I am semi-retired (VA disability), so I have allot of time on my hands, & shooting & reloading are my passion. I appreciate all comments...
  13. Anyone tried Blue Dot? Using MG 121 - 6 port 1 poppel 4.5" Schuemam in an SV. I've had to load 10.5 to 11 grains to make Major. OAL 1.230. Spillage occurs when indexing, so I have to put the 121 on before index. Flat shooting, just slow to load. OAL too long? I think that some of the powder is not completely burning in the 4.5" barrel. Go with a 124?? I appreciate any suggestions.
