  1. We are planning to use Practiscore to score our steel match at Black Creek. We are running 4 Stages of falling and static steel (120 rounds) and have just under a 100 shooters in 4 squads. Black Creek Steel In April, I used an iPad to score the match from our paper score sheets with zero problems. Since I am in Iceland with an occasional extra hour or two on my hands, I decided to score the May match as a record, and by doing so, add any new shooters to the shooter database. I scored Stage 1 on the aforementioned iPad with zero problems. I then decided to score Stage 2 on my Android device (Samsung Galaxy S). I noticed that misses are not being registered even though they are scored. If I go back and edit, then the misses are picked up. Any ideas? Best regards from sunny Iceland, Jim Taylor
  2. Iggy There is not really an issue with 40 cal mags that cannot be solved by the sizing of brass and attention to OAL. The Henning mags will run very well in 40. Just pay attention to Cha-Lee's detailed account on how to deal with 40 cal issues. The 9mm mags are another story entirely. This design with rear spacers worked with everything I put in them including some really short factory stuff. Best regards, Jim
  3. Tested 9mm Tanfoglio mags with rear spacer today in my 9mm Limited. Gathered all the cat and dog ammo I could find in the range bags and garage. All ran flawlessly from fully loaded mags. Best regards, Jim Taylor
  4. EAA has them in stock at 3 for $75. You have to place an order to get them. We are having some weather issues here in VA for the next day or two. As soon as I can get to the range, I'll make a range report. If they don't run, I'll have them on sale. Best regards, Jim
  5. Two more photos. Best regards, Jim Taylor
  6. Here are a couple of photos of the large frame 9mm magazines from Tanfoglio and EAA. The chrome magazine came with my Limited gun. It runs without a problem, but it may be the only one that does. ;-) The new mags have spacers in the rear and a distinctly different transition from double stack to single stack. Also, if you have a Limited gun, you will need to change the base pads. I have not taken these to the range yet, so who knows if they will run. If not, Aaron Neal has the solution and I'll go down that road. Best regards, Jim Taylor
  7. Tape your index finger to your middle finger for dry fire and practice. I think you are holding your mouth right.....:-) Jim
  8. JP Rifles makes a great magwell for the Glock. Best regards, Jim Taylor Keflavik, Iceland
  9. Black Creek Steel is Saturday, March 13. 4 Stages, 72 rounds. Info at Black Creek Steel Best regards, Jim Taylor Black Creek Shooters Association Mechanicsville VA
  10. Well, it sure isn't "I, Sniper." If you noticed, Hunter was re-loading with his finger in the trigger guard during that show. Hard to take him seriously as a "gun expert" after seeing that. Jim
  11. The Black Creek Steel Match is canceled due to weather. Next match will be 13 March. Black Creek Steel Best regards, Jim Taylor
  12. Going off the previous claim of someone getting 1.5" at 50yds (which I don't believe for a number of reasons) it would make for a pretty inaccurate rifle. Heck, 1.5" at 100yds isn't very accurate for a rifle! Edit to add: The above was only meant to poke fun (as in ) at what seemed to be a silly post...nothing more, and it's not a swipe at Sig or the All Around. R, Gman: Oh ye of little faith!!! I've seen Jason shoot my Nowlin 9mm from prone at 50yds to a .78" group (6 shots). Get the ammo right and it will shoot even better. My 6" Springfield with Schuemann barrel (extensively worked on by Derrick)will shoot just over a .5" group at 50 yds. It is a pricey thing to get his kind of accuracy, but in Action Pistol it is worth it (I hope). Getting the right loads, etc. must not be overlooked, but accuracy is possible. Jason and I worked over a Buckmark and finally hit the combination of ammo(Green Tag)and gun to get under .5" at 50yds (10 shot group). Maybe you ought to shoot groups every now and then (Brian recommends this as a primary means to excellence). ;-) Best regards, Jim Taylor
  13. Eddie: Nope, just show up. We are open squadding and will hold registration open until 1130 or so. Bring some buddies, we'll have a good time. Best regards, Jim
  14. We are pleased to announce the inaugural Black Creek Steel Match in Mechanicsville VA on 13 February 2010. Details are available at www.blackcreeksteel.wordpress.com. Matches will consist of 4 to 8 stages of falling and static steel and are a shameless imitation of Rio Salado's Tuesday Night Steel matches. We will hold the match on the second Saturday of each month throughout the year. Our thanks to Rio Salado's Tuesday Night Steel team for the inspiration and guidance. You can sign up for email updates on the site. Best regards, Jim Taylor Black Creek Shooters Association
  15. Look in Google's 3D Warehouse. We have a bunch of props, targets, etc. there. If you have any questions, post them here or PM me. Best regards and Happy New Year!!! Jim Taylor bcidpa at gmail dot com
  16. You got it. Big time fun. Shoot more than one gun if you want. Jim
  17. Black Creek Shooters Association Mechanicsville VA www.bcidpa.wordpress.com We are shooting a steel match on the Saturday after Christmas. 4 stages, 80 rounds minimum. Our regular monthly pistol match is the 2nd Saturday of the month. We have been an IDPA match (on steroids) but that is likely to change in the next few months. Best regards, Jim Taylor (804) 503-0493
  18. www.bcidpa.wordpress.com Thanks Jim. Unfortunately the form I'm using doesn't have any "just" targets. Do you have any? And I'm not sure how to turn off the grids Of course, I have all kinds of targets. PM me at bcidpa at gmail dot com and I'll fix you up. That's the easy way. You can explode a group, copy what you need, and go that way. As for the grid, if the template was made with some forethought and planning, the grid ought to be on its own layer. Turn off the visibility of the layer and you are good to go. Otherwise, let me know and I'll fix you up with a bay set up. Keep up the good work. Best regards, Jim
  19. You are doing great with SketchUp! Just a few observations. Put the no-shoots on the surface of the shoot targets if you can. It makes for a cleaner design. Use the rotate tool to rotate the target face rather than the target stands and target. Once again, cleaner and more like what you will see in the field. Use the grid for layout and set up. Turn it off for match booklet presentation. Where there are multiple arrays, use the Look Around tool, set some views, and use those for clarification if you need to. Once again, you are doing great. Let me know if you need anything special in terms of prop development. Best regards, Jim Taylor www.bcidpa.wordpress.com
  20. Look at mag pictures in this thread. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...7661&hl=CCF Best regards, Jim
  21. Mark your mags. Shoot until you have the problem. It will be that mag. Take some nippers and adjust the feed lip opening, or replace it with a new mag. It is not your extractor, lubrication, etc. Here is how the malfunction occurs. Spread magazine feed lips allow bullet to ride a little higher in the mag. As the slide moves to the rear, the bullet in the mag contacts the case, blocking it from extraction. The extractor pulls off, leaving about half the case in the chamber and the jam you describe. This on is a real chore to clear as you well know. Glocks are pretty sloppy tolerance-wise so it won't happen every time. Somewhere on the forum is a picture where a magazine has been adjusted like this. In a CCF thread, I believe. The CCF Raceframes are tighter and this is a more evident problem with them. Anyway, replace the mag and all will be well in Glockland. Best regards, Jim Taylor
  22. We started with IDPA in Google SketchUp. There are targets and props out there in the SketchUp 3D Warehouse. If you need help in getting started, let us know. Look at our blog- www.bcidpa.wordpress.com for our match booklets. Best regards, Jim Taylor
  23. Bill There are about a dozen or so catapults, onagers, etc. in the 3D Warehouse. Go for it, and post it please!!!!!!!!!!! Jim
  24. Scot pulled me out of the fire with Area 8. I was sick in Kuwait (leg infection from a fall I took while videoing a local match) and was pretty much out of commission. Scot stepped up with Homer Simpson. As you all know, I am partial to Lara Croft. It is amazing to me how all of this has caught on from the time Angel Medina and I got turned on to this tool by the guys in Thailand. Scot makes some cool videos by incorporating the models into the video. Just search for "Pigdawg" on YouTube. Best regards, Jim Taylor Black Creek IDPA Blog
