  1. Hi , This is probably an over thinking question - I have an infinity slide that was cut for a rds i.e. its flat with the 4 locating pins to accommodate the mini red dot - currently it has a burris fitted - the burris has a rubberized shim plate that fits between the sight and the slide, I want to fit a doctor rds (same mounting holes / screw pattern) - there does not appear to be an equivalent shim for the doctor sight. My question is does the doctor rds screw directly onto the slide without this insulation , which means that the battery rests directly on the slide, or do I need to insulate the sight by some means . Note the burris plate is bigger that the doctor sight as the burris has a switch (which recoil and fat fingers occasionally manage to turn off while shooting) and does not fit with the doctor rds Thanks in advance for your insight (no pun intended) Tim
  2. I have been using that shim for about a year - its simple and it works no more movement
  3. Awesome they all arrived as promised by Grafs last week (I phoned and begged Beanie and Missy, something like a NRA fund raising campaign, lol), now if only I could get some free time to set even one of them up ! I also got the new piece no charge from hornady that fits on the powder measure (it controls depth of the powder through expander) I'll have to figure both out as I imagine belling the case is going to be critical to the process I can feel the peace from the inner sanctum of the man cave already.... and its only Wednesday
  4. I would call hornady and tell them your primer punch is short stroking they will make life good for you , their customer service is second to none - they replaced a large primer punch for me that was not seating the primers flush with a marginally longer one - you would be up and running again by the week end if you called them today. Other wise a blob of JB weld on the bottom of the punch may work for a while but it will wear eventually and you are probably talking a few thousands at most.
  5. Swapping the spider out is a 5 minute job - at the press , pull the retaining clip off with a small screwdriver / end of a scribe - slide gear and washer off - replace gear , use same washer , replace clip use bigger screwdriver to ensure it clicks into place - done - you may have to get you pawls set up again CocoB thought it through , I absolutely agree that shallac would be a better application as shallac is not a permanent as JB weld and you could separate that shallac joint by pulling on it - I used JB, If I have to remove it , I would have to cut the tube flush and flip the head over and just run a mill into it, however on saying that I have never needed to in the last 2.5 years that its been there
  6. I had a similar problem - give hornady customer service a call they will send you a replacement spider gear (the thing the pawls drive on ) cured my indexing problem no issue. The primer tube just needs some jb weld or stick a star screwdriver down the end and expand it a fraction the original was a press fit careful you dont block the tube with anything and stop the primers from getting through. Tim
  7. Grafs to the rescue - back order filled all three dies 9mm/357 and 451 awesome now I have to mess with my ODC and set these up 45 will be first ..... so we will see how that works
  8. Has anyone actually got any bullet feeder dies from hornady - hornady don't even know when they will start making them - its frustrating to have a brand new feeder since december with no way to use it end of pathetic rant.
  9. I think the OP was asking on the LnL case feeder - not opinions on blue v.s red, both systems in the Lnl $$ range have their own quirks - I know I have a 650 and a LnL , the case feeder was a bit of a bear to set up on the Lnl - however the dillon wasn't perfect either , they both run great, both companys in my experience have great customer service - and the guys are absolutely right the shell plates are interchangeable.
  10. I don't see why you couldn't - it would be a matter of cutting the frame by x" and also cutting the cartridge feeder tubes (the clear plastic ones) by the same - from a mechanical point of view its no different , only thing is you would get less cases in the stack and therefore cycle time will be less than the longer version - not a big issue. Tim
  11. While I like schuemann's barrels, I am struggling with their (non)delivery times (does anyone know whats up there?) -And is there anywhere I can get a 5" non ramped hybrid barrel in 45acp from ? Thanks Tim
  12. Thanks for the help guys - I have found an adapter for noval dovetail - so I am good to go.
  13. Why? - I have got my hands on a docter reddot - however it has an adapter to fit a glock rear sight (slide mount) , I am thinking that with little effort I can get this to fit a 1911 slide blank - just by milling the correct slot for the adapter, so minimal outlay provided I get the cut right. Thanks for asking Tim
  14. Hi - does anyone know what size the glock sight dovetails cuts are on the slide? Thanks in advance Tim
