  1. I've been out of the game for some time. Would like to just go all out and buy something really Cadillac. No budget just the best of the best. Make some recommendations please?
  2. Going to first replace the extractor rod and plastic bit, see if that doesn't do anything. After that, just going to bite the bullet and buy a conversion barrel. Thanks for the all the help.
  3. Have a fairly heavily modified limited pistol I've been trying to diagnose the issues with. About every 50ish rounds I'm having a stove pipe like what's show in the picture. The frame, slide, and barrel probably have 50k+ on them so I don't know if this is just failing because it is getting worn out. Seems like the extractor claw occasionally is slipping off leaving a spent casing in chamber as well while trying to load another round. It's a G34 barrel in a G35 slide. It's not a conversion barrel and has only begun to act up in the last two thousand rounds. Prior to that it has run factory and reloads very well. The slide was further lightened and I've continued to run a 13lb recoil assembly. Not sure if increasing spring weight would help. I've replaced entire extractor assembly. Tried 9mm and 40 extractor. I've honed the chamber with a reamer, it didn't remove any material. I have not messed with spring weight, I have not replaced ejector with a 9mm ejector. Any ideas what's going on here?
  4. I'm not 100% sure but I started running a frame weight on my Glock limited gun and got a holster specifically for it from SJC custom, they offer a M&P frame weight and I would suspect that they also offer a holster option if you call them. I did not like using a modified Racemaster holster to accommodate a frame weight. I never felt entirely comfortable that the gun was secured and I couldn't hit the gun really hard on the draw and not have a good chance of it jumping out.
  5. Ghost pouches are great. I'm not running production anymore and they still work great for my limited set up. Highly recommended.
  6. I haven't messed with a thumb rest but the SJC has the option, read the recent article in the most recent Front Site magazine and they made a pretty convincing argument for a *thumb rest [generic]*/thumb rest option. I'm going to try it but will have to figure out how to make my holster work with that hanging off the side.
  7. The new texturing on the M&P 2.0 is really nice out of the box. Granted I shoot Glocks, but probably the best out of the box texturing I've felt so far.
  8. Just look at Dave Sevigny before the Glock scandal. He kicked butt with a G34. Robert Vogel shoots a Glock and kicks some serious butt with it.
  9. All I can say is it works, and in my case, is quite accurate, and reliable with all G35 extractor/ejector.
  10. Never thought of doing it at the safe table, but next match I participate in, I will definitely do this to get warmed up.
  11. I had some issues with engaging the slide release on my Glock 35 w/ extended release. Swapped it into a standard one and haven't had any problems since.
  12. Ended up ordering a kydex for my Glock w/ frame weight from SJC, ended up being back ordered so still practicing with my modified DAA Racemaster, but looking forward to moving away from a holster that makes me very uncomfortable.
  13. I think both those guys fall into the category of more than 10,000 hours of time behind a gun plus a healthy dose of natural talent.
  14. I've noticed that when I do dry fire daily my bench drops because my right side is somewhat weaker and subsequently my lockout is less forceful on my right side. Sucks but it's a price you pay. Perhaps focus less on draws? Movement and transitions are all used way more than the draw in most cases.
  15. I'm running a standard Glock 34 stormlake barrel in my Glock 35. Excellent accuracy and reliability with 125gr precision bullets over 4.2 N320. I realize that this is not a conversion barrel but works just fine with sub 2" accuracy at 25 yards.
  16. Just google dot torture, distance changeup, etc. will show everything plus videos on youtube of people doing it.
  17. Probably doesn't mean a whole lot, but I went from a lightened slide 35 with frame weight, brass magwell, brass base pads, to a 22 with sight tracker, standard weight slide and same accessories as the 35. I definitely feel the 22 shoots softer than the 35, perhaps because the action is less violent. In my mind much improvement, but I'm a sucky shooter.
  18. Not to distract but I was curious if you had any practice with a open/limited style holster? I ask because I've had some excellent sub .7 draws using a standard BT holster in live fire. Getting there with my DAA Racemaster has seemed to be much harder, I'm nervous about knocking the gun out during a draw when I hit the pistol hard. I got my first dq in a match using that holster when I snatched the pistol so hard I knocked it loose without a good grip and ended up shooting the pistol into the ground trying not to drop it. I'm tempted to go back to a standard holster like that but I'm using a Glock frame weight and it makes holster selection troublesome. Is it just more of a finesse thing to get there with a open style holster?
  19. What do you attribute the slowness to? Greater recoil impulse on CO gun due to lack of comp or reciprocating dot vs stationary on slide?
  20. I like the dot torture stuff. Extend the range as it becomes easier and add an element of time to increase difficulty. Frank Garcia's dot drill. Lastly, I've been having a lot of fun with distance change up drill that I got from Ben Stoeger. All of these are easy to find if you just google the names.
  21. Transitions have been a bear for me, can get my splits decently accurate at 10 yards .16-.18 with my limited gun but have struggled hardcore to get my transitions consistently lower than .25. Going to try to incorporate this into my training and see if I can get my transitions to match my splits.
  22. I've run a Vanek Super Grandmaster for 6 years. Excellent trigger.
  23. Shot my glock today and managed to get DQ'd. But the shooting I did do, I was very impressed with how soft and flat the gun shot. Better shooting and tracking than my 35 with lightening cuts.
  24. If a Glock is what you want to stick with and really enjoy the platform, a brass magwell, SJC frame weight, and weighted base pads can all help. Might even want to look at a Glock 35 threaded barrel with a sight block that will give you a Glock 24 sight radius with a lighter slide.
  25. What sights do you have on that rig dogtired? Any POA/POI issues? I have something very similar coming and ordered a Dawson adjustable rear with a .345 tall front.
