  1. I have been off line for a few days and did not read this topic since Wed. or Thurs. To say I was upset when I saw what had been posted would be an understatement. Steven Mosher is a friend of mine and I almost always shoot in the same squad as him, and speak to him at least everal times a week. The things he posted on this forum are in now way representative of what is thought about the MS Classic and Magnolia Shooters. Steve was dead wrong to generate these post. Even if he believed them to be true, (which I do not) this is not the place to address those beliefs. The work that the guys a Magnolia put in for this match, for very little reward is greatly appreciated by the rest of us on the coast, and as the person that does most of the work at our local matches, so does Steven. Steven is a good guy and most of the time is one of the most reasonable persons you could meet. but on his stance on this forum, I cannot not defend him because there is no justification for his actions. I would ask that the forum members, and the guys at Magnolia Shooters to not hold the views of one member to be the views of all of us. Before making this post I had a long conversation with Steven Mosher and I believe he realizes how insulting and asinine some of his post were. I would like to extend my apologies and to reiterate that we here on the coast do not believe the entries were rigged in some fashion or another. I also pointed out to Steve that the name calling and negativity he engaged in reflected poorly on Biloxi Practical Shooter's Association. I believe Mosher will be contacting some of the people he offended by PM. He sent me a copy of the message he intends to send and I suggested that after he has contacted the individuals personally, that he post the message on this site. Again, BPSA does not condone or agree with the aspersion cast upon the MS Classic, Magnolia Shooters and several other persons. Thanks, Gerald Forbes
  2. I am too computer illiterate to figure out how to delete this.
  3. I have a shorty open .38 super with a comp and two popple holes, and it is obnoxiously loud with major loads. As mentioned previously, pugs and muffs are mandatory. Even other open shooters with 9 major guns complain about my gun.
  4. I've been shooting Precision 185 grain molycoated bullets for three or four years now. You do see a little residue in the barrel but it has never been an issue. I experimente3d with how long I could shoot my gun without cleaning, but just re-lubing. I shot over 1,000 rounds with no malfunctions.
  5. I use a regular magazine with dummy rounds in it.
  6. Steven, I used it for a little while when I had trouble finding N-320. I didn't have to change anything, including the powder measurement, OAL, crimp, etc. It metered very consistently, and I had Competition scheduled to be my 320 replacement. Then the powder fairies stared delivering 320 again.
  7. Yep, that was me. I still had a good time running the video and spectating.
  8. I had an Eagle with a cracked slide rebuilt by Gary Natale at GANS. Along with the new slide, I changed to a bull barrel. Gary called me and advised that the slide to frame fit, although acceptable for a duty type pistol, was a little loose for a competition type gun. He advised welding and machining the frame rails, which added $75.00 to the cost of fitting the new slide, barrel and fire control parts.
  9. A little info on NCIC, where the stolen items are listed (this is a nationwide data base). Certain items, guns being one, remain on NCIC once they are entered stolen. They are not taken off until an authorized agency enters them as being recovered. The ORI,(agency that originated the entry) is automatically sent a message that the stolen gun was recovered and by who. The ORI is then able to contact the recovering agency and verify that that the right serial number, make, model and caliber were entered. NCIC is overseen by the FBI. Every couple of years the entries are verified as still being stolen as part of FBI audits. Gerald
  10. I sucked, but had a great time. The match was well run, and I really enjoyed finishing early. I do have one request: please level out the hills. Ha ha.
  11. The cuts that run front to back go all the way through, as do the cross cuts in front of the ejection port. the ones aft of the port do not go all the way through.
  12. Biloxi23

    Which one?

    Pepper Z-06 or Hellcat
  13. I have been on a Cormac McCarthy reading frenzy the last couple of weeks: No Country For Old Men All the Pretty Horses The Crossing
  14. These are my two rules for gun buying: One, you want it and two, you either have or can get the money.
  15. I do not know how well you can see the photos, but the cross slots cut in the slide of my Akai 6" are angled to the rear. I have over 10,000 rounds through it.
  16. I just started shooting an old .38 Super open gun and had the same issue with an STI with Taran springs and follower. One of the other shooters asked me if I was loading 28 into the mag and I was. He said that with 28 in .38 super the followers had a tendency to roll over. When I load 27 the mag functions as it should. I cannot tell you why, but it does. I am sure someone on this site can explain it.
  17. Nope. But I will be ordering a spare for my bag. Never thought of this.
  18. Akai Samurai 6", bull barrel, lightened slide and a Phoenix Trinity aluminum grip.
  19. One of my shooting buddies just started using purple. For a while he has been dulling the "glow" in both red and green FO inserts. He said that the brightness was overpowering his front sight. I did not care for it, but he is a Master Class shooter and I am a mid level C. And my 63 year old eye, with post cataract surgery seem to see the green better. I came to this conclusion with my eye surgeon who is familiar with guns. I brought both in to her office for the examination.
  20. Who manufactured you slide? If you check Dawson Precision website it will so the differences in dovetails. I wo9uld also suggest watching his You Tube presentation on fitting front sights. Even the correct sight will take some fitting.
