    Mainspring in 75B

I have a shadow target, with 13# main spring installed. So far I have shot 200 rounds of remington ammo. No failures of any kind. Daniel
  3. Two 18 round mags instead of three? Seems a little odd for a shadow. Maybe they figure they can reduce the price and not everyone needs the extra mag.
  4. Very cool. I just shot my Shadow this Saturday for the first time. Don't have anything else to compare it to but this would definitely be a lighter version with benefits.
  5. A Decocker CZ will limit your ability to upgrade to the Competition hammer down the road. It will not be a drop in part and will require modifications to make it fit. You could still have a trigger job done to the gun with our with out the competition hamer. So its your call, most generally do not like the decocker models for competition. Daniel
  6. Hey Jastaute, I will check out my Shadow Target for this problem when I pick it up this Friday. So one can feel it hitting if you insert the mag more vertical/towards the back? Daniel
  7. Agreed, take it appart and gently bend it so its flat. Others have simply installed it facing the other way with pressure towards the back of the gun. Daniel
  8. Thanks for the heads up. I will be sure to save PDF versions of any PMs I want to save.
  9. I ordered one of these. Its still on its way(chose parel post to Hawaii). I originally intended to pick up a midway range bag, however they are on hold so this will hold me until they are available again. Daniel
  10. I intend to only shoot on Saturdays. I am considering shooting with honolulurhatrhatboyz and/or MPPL. Do you attend the Saturday night matches? Here are some quick low quality photos I took from my phone while at the FFL. I will take better ones when I have the gun at home. As a note, the gun came with rubber grips, wood were out of stock and will be sent to me when they arrive.
  11. I am very new to the rules of USPSA, however I believe there are some rules regarding changing the finish of a gun? Will this affect your intended use? Daniel
  12. I might be interested in some brass, maybe a flat rate box or two. Send me a PM if you get it. Daniel

    Grips

Jody, I know another person who uses the rubber instead of thin aluminum grips. This person also had Red thin aluminum grips which I purchased. My gun is at my FFL during my 2 week waiting period. It has rubber grips on it now and haven't tested my red grips yet. Have you decided on a set you will use permanently? Are you considering the thick aluminum grips? Daniel
  14. I did some research on making weight with the shadow here is the search is used: http://www.google.com/search?q=making+idpa+weight+with+Cz+sp01&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&client=safari It looks like you will need to change out your guide rod to the stock plastic one, use 10 round mags, and possibly change out the mag break to an aluminum version used in a CZ 75. That should get you pretty much there, if not you may have to try the factory plastic grips or the .40 oz wood grips sold online.
  15. Ken, I would just go ahead with getting a 11lb recoil and 13lb main. Your gun already has the next increment higher (14#recoil/15#main). So if for some reason they don't work out just swap it back. They 13# main spring is going to be the one that will decrease your DA pull and help the SA slightly. You already have a good DA for a broken in shadow target. Please share your trigger pull after the spring swap . I am still deciding if I should get an extended firing pin ($20 from czcustom) so I can go even lower than 13 lb on my main spring. Daniel
  16. Thanks every one for all your help.
  17. eerw, I intend to get as close as I can to that 5#da/2#sa. I will be using wolf primers. I have 3 spare 13lb main springs(13lb currently installed) and an extra trigger return spring. From my understanding I need to polish all contacting areas relating to the trigger pull. Then after that experiment with clipping the main spring and reducing the trigger return spring. CZ customs sells a extended firing pin for the Shadow. Would you reccomend installing it? I would appreciate any guidance you could give to achieve a 5#da/2#sa. Thanks, Daniel
  18. Update: My Shadow Target arrived at my FFL on Thursday. I stopped by to check it out. The trigger pull was written as 8 DA 3 SA on the testfire target. My intial impressions are the SA is very nice, once you get past all the takeup. This is my first experience with a DA gun so the DA was very stiff for me. I also noticed some stopping points when slowly pulling through DA. I am not impressed with the DA, however I have been told that dry firing and shooting the gun will solve this. I really like the sight picture. The front FO is the perfect size for me, I have read many people prefer the smaller 1.0mm FO. I have no intention of changing mine. As far as the controlls go, the mag release is very stiff. I can't reach the slide release unless I adjust my grip. Ken, The stock springs for a Shadow Target are 14lb recoil and 15lb main spring. I plan to shoot some factory ammo I can get for free from a family member and then I will be reloading. How are you liking your shadow so far? Do you like the wooden grips? My gun came with rubber grips, wooden ones were out of stock when I place my order. The wooden grips will be shipped to me when they arrive. I have a set of Red thin aluminum grips that I plan on using.
  19. Thanks every one. Definately have given me some food for thought. The idea of bagging the gun is a refreshing solution, regardless if I share gear or get her her own(sharing gun). So it looks like getting her cheap gear may cost anywhere from $42-57 for belt and mag holders, plus cost of holster. If I go this route I would need to look into holsters for the sp01 as I only know blade tech which is $60...
  20. I ordered these Howard Leight Impact Sport Electronic Earmuffs: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productnumber=671923 Have not received them yet. I am considering doubling up and getting http://earplugstore.stores.yahoo.net/silnatrubear.html or http://www.earinc.com/p1-nonelectronic-instamold.php Any one know the pricing on the earinc custom plugs? Has any one happend to have tried both? At a check up I had a couple years ago, my doctor said I have poor hearing which could be a result of my allergies, also probably why I talk loud, so I am willing to make the extra effort and double up. Daniel
  21. I purchased a CR Speed Deluxe belt, it seems to be more popular than the DAA. Also it seemed that for some people the DAA belt is so thick it is quite a chore to get your gear on it. I received mine yet, should come in with my gun tomorrow. Daniel
  22. First of all thank you everyone for your feedback. I definitely did not consider many of the aspects brought up. My Shadow Target will be arriving at my FFL tomorrow. I will be stoping by to take a look . I will be applying for my permit and waiting out the two week background check/cool off period before taking possession. More specific responses below: Thanks for the heads up. I wouldn't wan't to detract from the match by not contributing etc. If I do end up sharing gear I will try to make sure it is for a limited "trial run". Of course, always gotta pick on the new guy . Correction made. I am just not sure that the money would be well spent on belt, holster, and mag holders for he at this point in time. Currently we have a 14 month old and one more along the way (March 20th). So we are just playing this by ear on me attending Saturday local matches. She would like to compete, however she feels that it would be hard to have some one watch our children each match. She is also concerned about getting things done around the house. Because of this she thinks she would only be able to go once in a while. I attended a local match held by the club I would be shooting with, four courses of fire were shot that day. While I didn't ask if I could borrow a setup to compete, no one offered to lend me a setup. I really wouldn't have a problem with getting her a production setup similar/identical to mine if she would use it. I have my eye on a CZ 75 with some trigger work done (for her/ as a loaner for taking family/friends shooting) however I don't think she wants us to spend any more money on another gun... We live in Hawaii, on the Island of Oahu. In hawaii hi caps are banned so, two mags would provide 20 rounds at our disposal. I would support her for a production setup, however that is where I would draw the line. My wife truly isn't materialistic in the way women are typically perceived. I don't for see her ever wanting to spend that kind of money on a gun. I don't even think I can convince her we should buy a gun "for her", however this is prior to her handling the Shadow Target and competing.
  23. CZ Shadow Target

  24. Hello, I am just getting started in USPSA production with a Shadow Target, CR Speed belt deluxe (36"), 4 CR versa pouches and a DA Magnet. I would like to try get my wife involved in shooting in production. I only expect her to come once in a while so I would like to share gear between to two of us. I would actually just be shooting at club matches(saturdays), no classifiers as they are held on Sundays. My question is how practical is it to share gear? With only 1 belt, I would have to take off the outer belt, then the inner belt and swap... I think it would be beneficial if I could find a extra inner belt so we only have to swap outer belts. The problem is I don't believe they sell brand new inner belts. So my options are: 1) to just share 1 belt... 2) find an inner belt 3) buy a whole belt and just use the inner belt. I would prefer to keep my cost down and would like to go with option 1 or 2. Is option two worth pursuing? I may be waiting and never find one. If I were to get another inner belts, would it be ok to get a larger size if thats all that is available? Thanks, Daniel
