  1. Caspian offers double stack models as well, I built mine with the original 1911 in mind that John Browning had originally designed.
  2. That is correct on the warranty, always a catch on modifications. Any thoughts on Caspian or another high end 1911 Frame or Slide manufacturer?
  3. The professional shooter or Gunsmith, Caspian sets the standard for quality and is guaranteed for life...
  4. Browning High Power from the Dead Bang movie and will always have my browning.
  5. It is tough to say without pictures, but I would say between $300.00 and $400.00. Where was this one built? I love my BHP and it was built in 1972 and in Belgium, the best were made there. I had it since 1990 and will never sell it. Most Gun professionals will at least have a BHP and a 1911. These two are the greatest pistols ever designed.
  6. Build it with a Caspian Frame and Slide, the best there is and has been the standard for the professional (many years).
  7. The best 1911 out of the box is a Springfield Arms and I prefer the GI model. The best overall would be a custom carry built 1911 on a Caspian frame and slide. In 2006, I did precisely this had proved to work out well. I built it myself, but a good gunsmith in your area could do the same or just go with Wilson or Brown, but that could get pricey. Oh, forgot to mention Cylinder & Slide for building a great .45 too....
  8. I am a fairly new re-loader and purchased my first instrument in November. I did about 90 days of research on the subject, so finally after I ascertained the opinions, I decided that Dillon was the only way. After speaking to Brian, decided and agreed with his professional opinion on the 550 B. I currently produce .45 and .223, but will add more in the coming months. This may be the route you may want to go. Call or e-mail brian and set up an appointment, he is great and will guide you in the right direction. Go with Dillon!
  9. Very nice set up, I especially like your bin arrangement. Where did you get your bin system? I am interested in setting up the same for my reloading area in my garage. I have a good sturdy bench, not as large as yours but I only have one 550 B press for now. I now need to neatly organize everything...
  10. What height does everybody have their bench surface? ...with/without a strong mount? ...standing or seated reloading? My newly finished re-loading bench is 42" Tall and I just like this height for working on projects. I have two other Workbenches for Gunsmithing work and built them 4 years ago. All are @ 42" tall and works well for me. I am 6'1" with a medium build. I have one re-loading instrument, Dillon 550B that I received about a month ago from Brian and just set it up last week to the new bench. I did not use a strong mount, just attached it to the Butcher Block (1 3/4") top. I will stand, but I could also sit down by using one of my adjustable height stools. Stephen NC
  11. Without question, Brownells is the best for high quality Firearm items. I have been a customer of theirs for over 17 years and simply they produce and sell the Highest Quality Tools for the Professiond Gunsmith or one who is just Starting out shooting. I, Like Brian read the Catalog cover to cover when the updated catalog arrives. The majority of my Gunsmithing supplies come directly from Brownells. Like some other Gun Nuts and Right Wingers, it is better not to allow the wife to know about what we acquire. They never can appreciate or understand the need of having so many items. Stephen North Carolina (Triad) PS Brian and Brownells make a good partnership, so I either buy from Brian, Brownells or Caspian for they represent the very best.
  12. I hate to ask this, but how does one add a picture(s) to this forum?? I have just assembled my reloading bench and want to add it to this forum (reloading benches). Thank you!
  13. I hate to ask this, but how does one add a picture(s) to this forum?? I have just assembled my reloading bench and want to add it to this forum (reloading benches). Thank you, Stephen North Carolina
  14. I received my first press 2 weeks ago, but I will purchase a Forster Co - Ax in a few weeks and then another Dillon from Brian. I think, I will buy a 650 and all associated items for it. I think reloading is a very addicting disease, as I am loving it. Thanks Brian...
  15. I am planning on purchasing a Forster Co-Ax® Reloading Press in a month or so. I have a good Dillon 550B press, but need a single stage press for Producing high quality precise loady for my Tactical Rifle. Is this a good press and how is the quality of the instrument? Does it produce high quality AMMO? Are you satisfied with it? I need opinions, advise and user experience? Thank you, Stephen
  16. I am planning on buying a CO-AX next month for my Tactical Rifle. I still have not set up my Dillon 550 - hoping to do it on Wednesday. I just have not had the time to do it, but the Reloading bench is assembled and ready for the install. I will post pictures... Stephen
  17. Slide Glide is the best and can be purchased by the owner of This BLOG. Slide Glide by Brian Enos. I use it or Break free CLP, as it Cleans, Lubricates and preserves the metal from rust. I used It in the US Army and still is the Best for cleaning firearms.
  18. Ad_liberty, I am a gunsmith and have a solid relationship with Brownells. Since Sinclair is now owned and operated by Brownells I felt compelled to throw them into the mix. I also receive a good discount on their products. I went with Dillon (through Brian) as quality won out in reference to a better financial deal. Sorry Brownells! I purchase most of my supplies from Brownells, especially their tools and with the Brownells life time guarantee period! I have been a customer with them since 1992 when I upgraded my Browning High Power to a Tactical Firearm. I have never Been concerned over any item they sell. I only now feel, Sinclair needs to step up to the plate and invest some Research and Development on their reloading presses. My hope is within a year or so they Will reflect the same quality standard that Brownells has for their Products. Thank you, Stephen
  19. If you want to reload, please use Brian Enos's services. He is a total professional and will guide you to the right equiptment. Thanks Brian and to the members of this blog that proved advice, Insight and reasoning on making a good sound selection. Best regards, Stephen
  20. Hi everyone, I ordered the 550B from Brian on Tuesday and many of the associated items needed. I should receive there items from Brian on Wednesday of next week. I am also building a strong bench To reload, so I can keep all my reloading equiptment seperate from my gunsmithing work. The Bench will be 42" Tall, 60" Length and 30" In Depth. It will be strong enough to support 800lbs. The top will be 1 3/4" thick Maple and the rest of the structure will be made of southern Yellow Pine (pressure treated). Here is what I purchased from Brian to start with. I will put Through another order to complete my needs next month. 1 K12xxx RL 550B in Caliber as Specified Caliber: 45 ACP 1 10xxx Dillon 3-Die Set, Caliber as Specified 1 DIGCA BrianEnos.com Digital Caliper 1 12xxx Dillon Stainless Case Gage, Caliber as Spec PorR: Pistol 1 11541 550 Toolholder w/o Casefeeder - w/Wrenches 1 20048 550B Spare Parts Kit 1 19455 CV-750 Vibratory Case Cleaner 1 21045 CM-500 Media Separator 1 SCALE BrianEnos.com Digital Scale/RCBS Powder Pan 1 200xx 4-Pack Primer Pickup Tubes, Size as Specified 1 13606 Primer Flip Tray 1 10330 Reloading Manual - Lyman #49 1 13733 Dillon Case Lube 1 20128 RL 550B Caliber Conv: 223 Rem/5.56/222 1 10839 Dillon 223/5.56 3-Die Set - Steel 1 13254 Dillon 223/5.56 Rem Stainless Case Gagea. 1 22058 550B Deluxe Quick Change Kit I spent about $1,147.00 and feel I got the basics for a good start. Well, there is the facts and please comment on my purchase and Future plans to reload. Stephen Randolph County, NC Sergeant First Class (retired medically)
  21. Hi Eric and everyone! I am so pleased with the response to my request on advice and Opinions. I am stuck between Dillon and Sinclair, but will make a decision this week. If Dillon, I will reach out to Brian. Eric, I was trained as a 13 Echo (Fire Direction Control), but Also was trained as a 13 Bravo (Cannon Crewman). Thank you! Stephen
  22. Hi Glockopop, I believe that a good option for a 1911 A1 is the GI model from Springfield Armory. It is a good solid 1911 A1 and you should not be disapointed with this purchase. I viewed all the different selections from Springfield Armory @ the NRA convention last month In Charlotte. I was very impressed with their rather large inventory and their custom built 1911 Series. This is the opinion of myself and several other gunsmiths. I built a 1911 (classic) in 2006 out of frustration with the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts, as I could not buy a new 1911 from any manufacturer there? . I now live in the Greensboro area of North Carolina and on Hilton Head South Carolina. I now feel free from all the horrible restrictions of my time in the Commonwealth. I then purchased a frame and slide from Caspian, purchased the best pieces available from Wilson, Brown, etc. I built a custom 1911 for Myself and was a good investment. The 1911 is the classis model built on John Brownings Original design. I love it! Caspian Frames and slides are guaranteed for life against cracks and any other damage that may occurs . It is the very best and the stardard for most custom 1911's. Good luck with the decision making process! Stephen Sergeant First Class, Retired (Medical) US Army
  23. Hello Everyone, I just joined this group on Wednesday and pleased that such a board exists. I have been shooting since 1983 When I entered the US Army @ Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. I started to get interested in the possibility of reloading Recently. I am now trying calculate which system to go with and what company to go with. I did speak to a Dillon Tech on the "650" @ the NRA Convention last month. I was impressed with the quality of the system viewed, but need user opinion on Dillon, Hornady, Lee, etc? I kindly request any and all suggestion, advice, comments and experiences of the various instruments that are on the market. Thanking everyone in advance, Stephen
