  1. I did need to use the Jagerworks screws, the factory screws were too long. Just an fyi, but they do not have free shipping anymore. I snagged one of the S2 OR’s from Ben Stoeger’s Black Friday sale and ended up needing another set of screws. I think it was $9 or so to ship them, which kind of sucked.
  2. Well, I got it done! It took about three times as long as I expected, and there was a point when I was trying to get the old hammer pins out and new in that I thought “I am going to have to mail this whole mess of pistol and parts to someone who knows what they’re doing”, but it’s done! There were no leftover mystery parts, and everything seems to work the way it’s supposed to. The trigger feels great with the black “light” hammer spring, hopefully it’ll reliably set off my ammo. I plan on getting to the indoor range in the next few days and will bring along the blue spring and tools to change it there if it doesn’t. As is usually the case with this sort of project, I have a much better understanding of how the whole thing works now after doing it. Now I suppose I’ll need to order another kit to do the same to my other S2. Thanks for the video leads and encouragement.
  3. That is a great compilation. I’m going to start with the reach reduction kit video you have on there later today, and I think that’ll get me going the right direction. Thanks for the help!
  4. Can anyone point me at one? I got all the parts from Cajun this week, and would like to get working on it this weekend. I just assumed that this would be one of the videos on their web page, but if it is I can not find it. If anyone knows of one on their site or elsewhere, I’d be much obliged for a link. I’m reasonably mechanically-inclined, fairly competent, and enjoy doing this sort of thing, so I believe I can get this done. A video would go a long way for me though, vs the written instructions on the site. Thanks for any help! Erik
  5. Roger that. I've spent a fair amount of money at BSPS in the last year, might as well spend some more there. Thanks!
  6. Nice! Mine was delivered and I picked it up from the FFL this afternoon. Ordered Wednesday 11/23 evening. I can’t imagine how many of these he must have sold at that price.
  7. Good info, appreciate that. For the springs. would you recommend CZ factory springs, or something else? Any good places to order from? Thanks!
  8. Hi folks, I’ve been shooting USPSA for just over a year. I come from a rifle shooting background, and have never shot a ton of pistol prior to this last year. I’ve always had them, they just weren’t my focus. As best as I can figure, I’ve put about 5,000 rounds through my S2 in that time. I know that isn’t a lot by many shooters’ standards, but I’m wondering what I might expect to fail on it and when? I haven’t done anything to it aside from add Lok grips, and so far have not had any issues whatsoever. Are there any parts that are known weak points that I should keep replacements for, or issues that I might want to keep an eye out for as round counts increase? Thanks for any info. Erik
  9. Just a follow-up on this. I couldn’t resist the $1200 S2 CO sale at BSPS, so I needed to order another of the plates from CZ-parts. I ordered it on 11/26 and received it today, 12/5. I don’t even have the pistol yet, but the part from Czech Republic is already in my hand! These guys are alright by me.
  10. Rod left that. I just logged in to the BSPS website and it’s showing mine as “awaiting fulfillment”. Not in any hurry to stick it in the safe, so no big deal. Thanks!
  11. Did you get any shipping notification when they sent yours? I also ordered on Wednesday, but haven’t gotten any updates after that. Thanks for any info!
  12. I saw the email first thing in the morning and couldn’t help but chuckle thinking; “man, that is a crazy price!” I casually checked back at dinner time yesterday figuring they’d all be gone by then, but they weren’t. It’s kind of funny; I started shooting USPSA last October after spending a long time in a totally different shooting discipline. I started out thinking; “This will be a nice, fun, casual hobby for me. I don’t even need to spend much money, heck I’ll just shoot this Glock 34 I already have.” Now it’s 13 months later and I’ve been shooting the Shadow 2 OR for 11 months, and I guess I’ll have a backup S2 OR next week. oh well…
  13. Just following up on this thread. I ordered the plate on 9/17, and it was delivered yesterday on 9/27. I've had domestic orders take longer than that, so I'm pretty happy with 10-day shipping from the other side of the planet. CZ-parts.com is good to go in my book, I wouldn't hesitate to order again.
  14. Thanks, I ordered the screws from Jagerwerks. Free shipping too, nice.
  15. Thanks guys, I went ahead and placed the order. Not in any huge hurry, so no big deal if it takes a little longer to get here, and if it doesn’t that’s even better. Now to start looking for shorter screws!
  16. Great info, thank you. I haven’t had any problems with the current mount yet, but I definitely like the idea of a steel plate better than aluminum so I think I’ll go ahead and order one. Just a quick follow-up question if you don’t mind; did the screws that came with your SRO work with the plate? I’ve seen some mention that they might be too long, but I’m not 100% sure of the exact applications they were referring to. thanks again!
  17. I just ordered an SRO, and am looking for a mounting plate for my S2 OR. They seem to be the only place with the CZ factory steel plate in stock. Them being located in the Czech republic has me a little nervous about ordering. With all of the issues currently happening with shipping in the USA, adding a country on the other side of the planet into the shipping mix seems like it could be asking for trouble. Wondering if anyone has ordered from them recently, and what kind of experience you had. This is the part I'm looking for: https://www.cz-parts.com/cz-shadow-2-or-red-dot-plate-trijicon-rmr-/-sro I currently have a DP2 mounted with one of the P10 plates from CZ Custom. It works fine, and I'd probably just go that route for the SRO if I could find it in stock. I'm also open to other suggestions on plates for this. Thanks!
  18. I don’t know the answer, but I’ve been a little disappointed in the quality/durability of the mec-gar mags. I had a follower break on one just from practicing reloads and dropping them on soft carpet. In looking at it after it broke, it was pretty easy to see why it happened; it’s a cheap, fragile, and extremely thin plastic part. I guess I’m not surprised to hear of other parts breaking on them. The good news was that I emailed CZ and they sent me two new followers right away. Get ahold of them and I’m sure they’ll take care of you.
  19. Thank you sir, that is exactly what I'm looking for. Going to place an order right now! Best, Erik
  20. After much deliberating between the S2 CO and the S2 Orange, I ended up buying an S2 OR at a local shop earlier this week. I wanted to use a DPP on whichever, and the extra expense of getting an orange set up was just too much, especially for my level of shooting. Which is not very high. Anyways, I (foolishly?) just assumed that I could get a plate from CZ or anywhere, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Can anyone recommend one for this combo that is readily available to order right now? Anything to definitely avoid? I've seen mention that a plate for a P10 will work, but it's my understanding that it doesn't quite match the contours of the slide. If that's the best option I'll order one, but figured I'd ask you folks who know more than me on this one. Thanks for any help. I joined this forum a long time ago, but have spent the last 15 years pretty heavily involved in rifle competition and just rediscovered a love for pistol shooting recently. I'm pretty terrible at it, but I'll get better. Merry Christmas, Erik
  21. I've done enough of other types of shooting to have become a fan of buying and crying as few times as possible. I am open to the possibility of paying more for a fully built and ready to go shotgun, depending on details. Thanks, Erik
  22. Benny, Would you recommend I just get the Standard M2 Field with 21" vent rib barrel and put a fiber front sight and I'll be good to go? I know you are pretty much the man as far as these shotguns go, so I will put a lot of stock in your advice - it is much appreciated. On another note, what kind of $ would a guy be looking at to get the modifications JTISchauser mentions above? JTISHcauser - thanks for the additional info. Thanks, Erik
  23. Thanks, but I've spent a pretty good amount of time reading on this forum - that's what led me to the M2 in the first place - and the questions. I've seen and read a ton about the M2 here, but I still have questions. Didn't see any topics about the rebate, but I guess I didn't have a question about it anyways, just mentioned it as something that made the M2 Tactical a little more attractive to me right now. Anyways, Why do you guys prefer the bead front sight over rifle sights? Is it faster to acquire, more forgiving, or what? What the heck is a vent rib even good for? How about upgrades? Or the Salient Arms M2 from Velocity Shooters? Stlhead: Thanks for the info on the Tactical - I didn't realize it didn't have removable chokes. Would that be a big detriment for 3-gun use? Charles Bond: Can you tell me why you would prefer the M1 over the M2? Thanks All, Erik
  24. Hi Guys, Let me start by saying I'm primarily a rifle shooter(NRA Highpower, mostly) but have shot a couple of action-type matches and enjoyed them. I've got a pretty good foundation with rifles and pistols and have good equipment already to get started with, but shotguns are a different story. I have very little experience with them and I must admit I am not good with them at this point. From the reading I've done on this and other boards, it looks like the Benelli M2 would be a good choice for an entry-level 3-gun shotgun. Fair enough - I'll get one. Now the questions begin. To me, the M2 Tactical Comfortech looks like it would be the best fit for me, but it doesn't seem to be a popular choice among 3-gunners. The rifle sights are the main reason I think I'd like the tactical, not just because I like the word "Tactical"... I shoot tons of rifle with iron sights and I'm pretty handy with them. Seems like a shotgun with similar sights would be easy to transition to, no? Since this sport is not my area of expertise, I'm perfectly willing to accept that I am a total ignoramus on this topic and I'd love for someone to steer me straight. Can you guys explain what the major advantages of the regular M2 Field with 21" or 24" barrel are over the Tactical? I have a hard time with bead front sights on the SG's I've used, but as I said, I have pretty limited experience. There is also a $150 rebate from Benelli on the M2 Tactical until the end of the year. Couple that with the $150 gift card I can get from Cabela's if I buy it from them and there's an extra $300 to spend on other stuff. Is the Comfortech stock worth the extra $? If I go with the M2 Field, what sort of mods might be recommended for 3-gun use? Don't need unnecessary bells and whistles, but I don't mind paying for useful upgrades. Would it be worth while to just get something like the Salient Arms M2 from Velocity shooter here?: http://www.velocityshooter.com/product_info.php?products_id=346&osCsid=31082a5ef0e829d9074d64edfd1cffd3 Is this money well spent, or just a lot of stuff I don't need? Any other recommendations along these lines? It's just the bead sight thing that's keeping me from buying an M2 right now... Thanks, Erik
