  1. I've had better luck with gen 2's. All have worked perfectly.
  2. This is genius. I haven't seen this before. Going to be pulling a ring off a rapala tomorrow
  3. I wonder how the aftermarket will be. I'm going to list my Edge to get one in 9mm (haven't shot USPSA in a few years) and would love for it to double as a host.

    TEXAS STAR

I shot the 5 star for the first time in my life last week. 3.57 seconds with my production Glock 34. I did it again today and choked on the first shot, ended with a 4.7 seconds. I think I could keep it pretty consistently around 3.75 seconds. Hands at sides, about 12 yards the first time, 15 yards today. Unclassified, non USPSA member.
  5. Thanks, that means a lot to me. I reread that post and don't know if that came across the way I wanted. I have no expectations of making GM or even M in the future. It would be great, but right now it isn't exactly my goal. For now my goal is to just get my A card by this time next summer. Unfortunately I have no internet connection until Sept. 1st, except for when I'm on campus so I will not be updating this thread for another week and a half most likely. I've been moving into my new apartment so there hasn't been any practice for the past 2 days, but now that I'm settled in I'm hoping to get back into the groove of things.
  6. I haven't joined USPSA yet. This is my first year ever shooting USPSA and unfortunately couldn't get started until around mid to late June. I shot probably 6 or 7 club level events this season. I then went to Alaska for a bit and now am returning school, where there are no clubs that participate in USPSA. Further, I live in Northern Minnesota and during the Fall, Winter, and Spring in northern North Dakota which has an even worse climate (and constant 20 mph winds). I am working on starting a competition shooting oriented club at my school (UND), and am hoping to bring USPSA to the area. I do shoot regularily and the little practice I've put in since I started USPSA and even more so, this thread, has made pretty large improvements in my shooting ability. It's pretty fun going out with friends with their AR's and AK's, placing clay pidgeons at 40 yards, playing a game of 'Horse', and beating them with my pistol. I plan to join USPSA next April. My practice is geared towards the club level events that start next May. The club I shoot it is not competitive what-so-ever, with maybe one A shooter so I am largely competing against myself, which I love. I hate to sound like every other noob to this sport, but ultimately my goal is get my M and one day my GM card. When I started I shot low C, right now I probably shoot low B to mid B. I'm really just trying to nail down the basics (IE draws, reloads, transitions) the best I can before I start shooting classifiers. Right now I can manage 6 second El Presidentes, which ideally will be around 5 seconds come April. I shoot a stock G34 in production. When I have nailed down the fundamentals enough to earn my M card I'll likely purchase an S_I and see what I can do in open class. That's the plan thus far anyway..
  7. Shot one day this week, probably got in only 3 days of practice. Moving into a new apartment a couple hundred miles away on Friday, so I've been busy. Luckily the town is a whole lot more boring than the one I'm in so there will be PLENTY of time for dry fire. I also bought a reloading press so that should kill some time as well.
  8. If I was to list my 75 for sale, what do you think I should ask? It's a stainless with (2) factory 16 round mags and (2) factory SP01 18 round mags, CZ Custom 2 way adjustable trigger, CZ Custom Cocobolo grips, extra set rubber grips, full action job with all polished trigger components, FPB removed with spacer installed, spare extra power extractor springs, 15 lb mainspring installed, spare 13 lb mainspring, and all stock parts included (factory trigger, springs, FPB, etc.). It has had 100 rounds fired through it. Again, I REALLY don't want to sell it, but if I come into a bunch of cash an STI Trubor may be calling my name.
  9. I am sure I'll have to contact Angus to get an answer, but do you or anyone else have any idea of how much Angus would charge to fit a compensator and mount an optic? I suppose for a Cmore he'd have to drill and tap the frame for a mount. Ugh it's starting to sound easier to just sell it and buy an STI.
  10. The kit I got has the Pro powder measure already. I will try out the Lee scale before I buy another. Cabelas is local and I would rather buy from them. I appreaciate the input, though. So far I have: Lee Classic Turret Large & small primer feeders Pro auto-disc measure four measuring discs Lee safety scale Lee Deluxe carbide 4 die set ABC's of Reloading and Lyman's 48th 2 calipers, one digital, one dial Brass tumbler (~800 round capacity), media, separator I'll be picking up a few plastic bins and some storage containers for completed rounds. I'll use a barrel for a cartridge gauge. Anything else you guys would strongly recommend?
  11. I currently have a very nice CZ 75 Stainless chambered in 9mm that I don't really have a use for. Whenever I go to the range I see myself grabbing my Glock 34 and leaving the CZ behind, it is a total safe queen. I'm not really interested in selling it off, so I'd like to turn it into an open gun. It has a complete action job, and was converted to single action with a 2 way adjustable trigger. The FPB was removed as well. The trigger breaks at around 2.5 lbs. I'm covered for 20+ round magazines as well. I'd be using the Custom Shop Magwell. Can I get some insight into what optics are options? How about compensators? I know Angus has been talking about making one, but he's been talking about making on for 5 years. Are there any available options out there? How about barrel options? Thanks
  12. ^ I did get the Lee Classic turret. I plan on getting an electric scale to supplement the Lee scale. Already bought a tumbler. Bought a set of Lee carbides with the factory crimp. They're cheap and if I dont like the factory crimp I can buy another one. What are the advantages to the Pro powder measure? I'm still unsure on the powder disks, my loads will all be the same being 3.3-3.4 grains of titegroup, is there a setting on the disks for 3.3, or is that something I'll need to figure out with experimentation? Thanks.
  13. Thanks for the tips. At the recommendation of a few on here (some through PM's), and a few local guys I'm going with the Lee Turret press as planned. I'm on a budget and a beginner. With the turret I can learn each step of the process easier than I could with a progressive and I can still churn out 200 rds an hour. It's easier to set up and best of all, the kit costs under $200. It has awesome reviews and it seems like everyone who uses it loves it. If I feel like I need to load 500 rounds a day I'll swap over to the dillon. I was able to pick it up, a tumbler, media, and carbide dies for $300.
  14. I'd love to order from Brian, but I am not looking for input on who to order from. I'm looking for what specifically to order given my budget constraints (Lets say $600) and wants.
  15. I thought it was great. I figured it would either be an awesome action flick, or either so bad it's hilarious. After the first scene with the NVG's on the ship I expected the latter, but it actually ended up being pretty good. Statham's scenes were great. Jet Li had a good fight scene and was funny. Cheeseburger Eddy was pretty hilarious in this movie as well. Some of the effects were very cheesy (especially at the end). Other than that it was great IMO.
  16. I saw it. Some parts were hilarious, especially the beginning with Sammy J and the Rock. Other parts seemed contrived. I like Mark Wahlberg as an actor in Shooter, but I don't think he did a very good job in this one. Will Farrell was pretty hilarious, though. I think it is one of those movies that is a whole lot better the second time around (at least for me).
  17. I am looking to start reloading and my budget is around $500 for a complete setup. I'd maybe go a little higher if need be. I am going to reload mostly pistol calibers to start with, but eventually will be loading 30-06 and 308. I am more interested in loading for 9mm and .44 magnum right now, though. I was thinking about just going Lee Turret press, but may spring for something better (progressive maybe?). Reloading rifle calibers isnt a priority right now, I'll probably just get a seperate single stage for that. A list of things I think I'll need: Press Carbide dies Powder measure/dispenser Powder Scale Calipers (Already have two, one digital) Plastic bins Bullet puller Brass trimmer Cartridge gauge Do you guys have an recommendations? I am no GM and don't fire 1,000 rounds a week. I maybe shoot 3k rounds of 9mm a year. I am not looking to reload to save money, though. I'm looking to be able to shoot more for the same amount of money I will probably reload 4k rounds per year. Thanks for any and all help.
  18. Going to start updating this weekly so there aren't 10,000 posts in here by the time next season rolls around. Shot today. Felt good to get some real trigger time. It was for fun though, not practice. Shot some clay pigeons at 35 or so yards. Hit them probably 2/3 of the time. Missed only when I didn't pay enough attention to my sights. I also had to cover up the target with my front sight at that distance.

    Glock 34 Shoots left

If the gun is sighted in and the sights are properly aligned when the shot breaks, it is impossible to miss. Unless the sights are off, you are shooting left (not the gun). If you're positive it isn't you, adjust the sights.

Will it be possible to adapt the compensator and slide racker to a CZ 75b frame?
  21. 15 minutes dry fire. Tough to practice after getting away for so long. Need to get out shooting.
  22. Thanks for the tip Brian. I know that I lean about 3" to the left on the draw to create a gap between my holster and my torso--Would that be what you're referring to? I actually fixed it today in my dry fire session by lifting up my pants. I'm about 15-20 lbs overweight and have a little bit of a gut. If I wear my pants higher where my torso naturally goes in, it creates a much larger gap and I don't need to lean. It also makes it SO much easier to draw. I felt like I knocked at least .2 seconds off my draw. My draw from surrender feels great now. My draw from relaxed doesn't feel as good. I think it's due to the upward motion of bring up my arm, followed by the downward motion of getting a good grip, and then the upward motion of drawing. I really need to work on getting a solid grip from relaxed on the upward stroke, so I don't push back down on the gun before I pull it back up. My reloads today also felt smoother. I really concentrated on making sure the magazine and the magwell were at the same exact angle before insertion. It may seem obvious, but I was overlooking it and my reloads got a lot more consistent after. It seems like I wait too long after my shot to eject the magazine, but I tried doing it faster and ended up pulling the shot off the target a little bit. I think I need to work on that more. Was my step on El Pres okay? I have seen a lot of good shooters pivot, but I felt a step would be more consistent. Do you think I should be pivoting more than I am now? Thanks again.
  23. 30 minutes dry fire today. Felt a lot more productive than yesterday and I felt I performed quite a bit better. I was having a little trouble yesterday hitting all of my reloads so today I really concentrated on making sure the gun and the magazine were pointed at the same exact angle when going in. It sounds obvious, but it's easy to overlook and it made a large difference. I will be on a cruise to Alaska until next Sunday, so no practice for over a week!
