  1. I'll get lots of extras. I've loaded approx 8000 9mm rounds through this press and this is my first issue, and it is a pretty tiny issue. Overall I am very happy with this press I bought from Brian.
  2. Will do, I must say I am very impressed. In 3 minutes I had the correct answer to my question. What a great board.
  3. I'll do that tomorrow morning. Thank you, Ah hah, I see it goes on the top. Thanks again, you guys deserve a prize for being soo fast at solving this!
  4. Ah hah! See attached pic. i just found this part on the floor. Can you please tell me what this clip is called so I can order a replacement? And where exactly does this go in the die?? Thanks for your lightning fast response!
  5. Hello All, I've just set up my Dillon 550B reloader again after over a year and the de-primer "thingy" seems to have fallen out the bottom and doesn't want to stay in the die. How do I fix this? Thank you in advance for helping the somewhat helpless here
  6. Like a lot of things it depends on who you ask. As an example, Hodgdon's web site lists a max of 5.3 grains, which according to them is good for 1,273fps. Sierra's manual claims a max of 6.0 grains will produce 1,350fps. Interestingly, Sierra's manual says that 5.3 grains is good for 1,250fps, which puts the two sources basically in agreement in terms of charge vs. velocity at the 5.3 grain mark. OAL from both sources is listed at 1.020" for 95 grain bullets. I'm not sure about other sources, those are the only two I can access at the moment. Thank you very much for your efforts. I found in the Lyman a max of 5.1 at 1374 fps. Since the 4.5 and 4.7 loads had such low recoil (almost like a .22) I'm going to try 4.8 and 4.9 just to see if it tightens the group a bit. I'm still very new at all this so I thought I would ask you much more experienced people for some advice before I tried anything higher. FWIW My chrono read 1251 fps with 4.7 gr 231 Thank you again for all your help
  7. I went to the range yesterday but only stayed for 10 minutes because the family that arrived and set up next to me were not very safe, and it was obvious they had no business holding guns, so I left before anyone got accidentally shot... I tried only a few loads: It was quite blustery/windy so that also made it difficult to hold steady, but: The best was a 1/2" 5 shot group center to center with 125 gr Hornady Action Pistol HP over 4.3 of titegroup at 15 yards, no sandbags or rest. The only 95 gr test I did was with a charge of 4.5 and 4.7 gr of 231. I was getting 5 shot groups of 1"-1 1/4" at 15 yards, but the wind had some affect on that. Does anyone know the max load for 231 and 95 gr projectiles? I'm getting the feeling that a little faster might be a little more accurate. I'm going to try to buy some Solo-1000 and give that a try too.
  8. I almost feel like i'm cheating, you doing all the work for me And Doug, I will try the 231 also, I have some of that in my loader right now
  9. that must have been like "Having frikin lazer beams attached to their heads!"
  10. Hi, Newby here. I have a Dan Wesson PM-9 with a mildly lightened slide that I would like to use for steel plate only. I have a bag of 1000 95 gr Montana Gold JHP that I would like to try since I like the feeling of a fast slide. What do you guys think about the following powders? 4.3 gr Solo 1000 4.5-5.0 N350 ? N310 Since I'm only shooting steel plate and not needing any minimum power factor, I'm just trying to get the gun to cycle with minimal recoil, for fun. Your thoughts?
  11. What velocity were you getting with this load for the 115 gr JHP? or What power factor?? Thank you in advance I've got a DW PM-9 that has the slide lightened by Chuck Warner and I'm looking for a reallly accurate steel plate load, hopefully around 975-1000 fps with a 115 gr JHP. I don't need to knock any steel over with it, so power factor is not an issue.
  12. And gng4life, that was exactly the type of response I was hoping for, thank you. Thank you everyone! I like coming to this board because I get responses from people who have actually tried stuff, not just armchair warriors like many other boards. I'll try lighter and slower and keep moving up until I get 100% cycling reliability and good accuracy and I'll post my findings when I get to where I want to be.
  13. Hi, I'm building the gun with a super light slide, ignition parts, and spring setup specifically to try ultra light loads, I can always move up to the 115 grain at 800, or even 900+ fps or whatever minimum which will definitely cycle reliably. Like I said, just experimenting to see what happens. Thank you for your input What do you think about N310??
  14. Hello everyone, I'm interested in trying a batch of montana gold JHP 95 gr for steel plate out of my super duper Dan Wesson 9mm 1911 5". I want to try the ultra low recoil of a lightweight sloooww bullet just to see what it feels like and how I do with it. Since the requirement (for safety) is 750+ fps, what powder do you guys recommend for this purpose? I want to stay at or just above the 750 fps. I can mail order any powder so no worries about availability. I currently load N310(45acp), N350 VV powders, 231, unique, etc on a dillon 550. 5" barrel 1911 Dan Wesson PM9 lightened slide, appropriate spring weights for reliable function by a top smith Thank you in advance for your help
  15. Eh heh.... Thank you for the help, that should have been obvious to me but wasn't. ALL FIXED NOW Thanks again.
  16. Hello I'm having a problem with my 550..I switched from 9mm to 45 and everything is working great except the large bolt in the middle of the rotating plate has taken to tightening itself a little bit everytime I advance the stations until it gets too tight that the plate can't rotate anymore.. What did I do, and more importantly, how do I fix/prevent this in the future??? HELPpppppp! Newby
  17. The results are in, the 4.9 gr of N350 wins for my 125 gr HAP bullets. 10 shots through the chrono with a low of 1074fps and a high of 1081 into less than 2" freehand at 25 yards with soft recoil and no smoke. People are certainly entitled to their opinions, but if someone has a better load than this for a glock 34 they will have to prove it
  18. I've loaded 125 gr HAP over 4.1 to 4.4 tightgroup and will post my results
  19. Regular old 9x19 for Production class USPSA out of a Glock 34 (soon to have bar sto barrel)
  20. OK, For approx 135-140 PF and a 125 gr Hornady Action pistol bullet: I have at home Winchester 231 and WSF Titegroup Unique VV 350 (which most are saying is tooooo slow) How much of which would you recommend??
  21. I bought some of the Ready Tactical magazine pouches, I give them an A so far. I have a 30" waist and it looks like I'll be able to barely get 6 of them from my left hip to spine, all next to each other, but comfortable. If I need more I suppose I could use my pant pockets...
  22. Thank you for the info. I truly am a newby and this has opened my eyes a bit more about how to properly match a powder with it's intended purpose. I realize I have much to learn. Thank you for your help
  23. Thank you everyone for your fast responses and experieced insights, this is why I came to this board. I want to buy what is best for USPSA single stack "division" (thank you also for the clarification of divisions vs classes I will look at the comp tac and Ready Tac go from there. Thanks again!
  24. I am looking for the two wide type, not the standard two double pouch. I want to use these for single stack class with my 45 (8 rd mags). Can anyone tell me where to finds these? What I am looking for are the ones where one pouch is outside (further distance from the belt) of the other. Somehow I'm not able to find these online....but I did just spend the whole day roasting in the sun at a shoot... Help
  25. Getting some new 124 gr hornady action pistol bullets and wanted to see if any of you had tried these with N350? I'm looking for a power factor of about 135ish to knock down steel a little faster.
