  1. Will the Boy Scouts be there for hire to tape and reset stages? If yes I want to hire 4 to cover my taping and re setting due to a medical issue at area 4 last weekend.
  2. Was out there today helping with setup. I think the stages are going to push the "envelope" big bays and wide and Ken has done an excellent job with the stage design. You will have to cover some ground on many stages and I am looking forward to shooting this match! I think "Stage #?" with the swinging plate is going to go down in history as a mind bender, I got a little dizzy when all things were actuated. I am working the bay with the two speed shoots -Thanks Deron! 15 stages and shooting all over for the last six years those who will shoot this match will get more than their $$$ worth. IMHO Jimmy
  3. Me too I went into #6 hoping the first half of the squads will be am-pm-am?? I have not bought a plane ticket because I would like to fly back Tuesday evening. I hope they fix this quickly!! How can you make travel plans not knowing?
  4. Agree Gordan, Tx. 40 minute drive for me.
  5. We went to a one day 10 stage match for several reasons. If you want to know why PM me. Jimmy
  6. If you are putting on a major match the common thought is to set it up for "C" & "B" shooters. I do not agree with this. A major match should draw in the "GM" & "M" shooters because of the stages and the challenge of those stages. If those folks see your match as one of great and challenging stages it gives the C&B shooters a chance step up beyond a comfort level and see what they can do. Like a golfer with a 36 handicap that person can still play at "Pebble Beach"
  7. Heather Locklear would be on my squad. After that I get to shoot senior next year but still will be an open "C" shooter. It is just a hobby for me but I still get a rush shooting a stage.
  8. 38SC - brass cost sucks and yes the " reload ten times can happen" but a match with lost brass you will never see that 10 times! Nor most people who pick it up. For what you pay for a big match + hotel + gas etc. that gun needs to run 100% the 9mm folks will claim that but watch those shooting 9mm major and see how many have issues. I have two top ends for my SVI 38SC for match's and 9mm for playing around and in case the Starline brass runs out!! 38SC shoots more "mellow" in my setup. 9mm + casepro rolled brass & aftec extractor I am OK for a local match. And autocomp vs 3n38
  9. Nationals waitlist tells everyone what day and what time it will open. But I can only type with two fingers so I am behind the power curve with that. But the Gator does have better stages!
  10. I did and was asleep. Sorry not to make it for the 5th year in a row. Going to have to look for other options in October. Just bummed not to get in.
  11. Opened at 4:04 AM full by 6:50AM on a Holiday? And no advance notice to anyone about the exact time it would be open?
  12. I just found the tension screw in the back of my car for a race master holster, the spring I have not found. It is Memorial Day weekend and I have a match next weekend in Arkansas. I hate to overnight one on Tuesday to have it in time for next weekend. I am thinking ace hardware if someone could give me the size/coils etc. I do have a different style/brand holster I could use but I am kind'a fond of this one. Doe's the spring just go over the small shaft of the screw? Looking at I think it does.
  13. Yes Friday was not perfect and I was on the last squad that finished at 7:10 pm. And yes Friday should have run smoother and since this is our second year we are still in a learning curve, but no excuse. I would like to honor you request for 1/2 refund on your match entry for this match, not full refund because I will honor this with my own money. Just PM me on this forum and I will send you a check.. Jimmy
  14. Last shot fired tonight at 7:10pm and I was on that squad! I am whooped and re-whooped. But we had a great squad and the honor of shooting with the Border Patrol guy's who are shooting a 3 gun match Saturday & Sunday. I guess the CowTown Classic was their warm up for that.
  15. Chrono will be chrono and have a sign, it is in the south 360 degree bay. Long story short all stages are numbered 1 - 12 and are marked by 7ft wood poppers with the stage number on them. Except chrono is not marked with a stage number. It is all setup and I think the stages came out great I am only worried about one stage. I think we have a very good mix of stages. As I said before the bays are big and you will have longer shots than most level 2 or 3 matches.
  16. That was stopped due to lack of manpower and the conflict with the Dallas 2nd Saturday match. CTASA still has the 3rd Sunday USPSA match at Cresson.
  17. Do not shoot my 7 foot poppers! They are calibrated and supported to with stand an F1 tornado and they went up today. The stage numbers will be adjusted as needed. The chrono "stage" does not have a big wood popper I only made 12 for 12 stages. But a sign will be put up to point you to the chrono. Final adjustments on the details will be completed by match time, just show up on time and someone can show you where you need to go. For those of you who have never shot at this range the bays are big and the stages take advantage of that! You will have to aim on some targets this is not a point and shoot match, and you will have to move more than a few feet if you want to see all the targets. I think the stages that were put together will challenge everyone.
  18. Signed up but no way to pay? Hoping it is not operator error on my part?
  19. Yes we use one nook per squad. And yes we use PS. Not all of the shooters can handle the Nook or prefer not to score. I guess an extra Nook on that bay may help. I just wanted to do something a little different and our range bays are large. I have seen some short stages people have posted and several of them look like fun when you have swingers-drop turners etc. and timing really counts. We have enough timers and RO's so maybe shoot two people side by side -but one at a time then score and reset and repeat. I am trying not to create "bottleneck" but we are looking at 3 squads over 6 bays so this should not be a problem "BUT!" not all squads move at the same pace and I have seen some squads take 15 to 35 minutes to finish after the first squad or second is finished. We do try and let people shoot in groups they want to shoot in but do try and keep the squads the same size. Sometimes myself and whoever helped me setup will do a shoot thru, but we move around and stay out of the way of the squads. Thanks for the input. Frostproof in 5 more days!!
  20. I MD a local match every month and we do a 5 stage + classifier. All stages 18 to 32 rounds. And we use the "Nooks" for scoring and this is the reason for my question. If I wanted to setup two speed stages in one bay of 12 rounds or less on each of them and have the shooter shoot one of these then go directly to the other one and shoot it. Could I setup the Nook for a String #1 time & a String #2 time and score both stages as one stage? We would score the targets at one time. Is this legal? I wanted to keep the round count up and not have to go back and forth with the Nook screen. Thanks.
  21. Factory built? Metal or plastic grip? New or old style mags? When an SVI comes up for sale they go quick. I would never sell any of mine.
  22. I talked to him in Houston and he said maybe a November match. He took a lot of heat over the condition of the steel used in the match and unless it gets updated/replaced it may not happen. They also had some shooters who were very verbal and it created an uncomfortable environment for the staff and some other shooters. We will see, November would be good.
