Hi, I'm looking at the possible purchase of a Dan Wesson Pointman 9 (PM9). can get it for $900 shipped to my LGS. The only question I have, is if it is possible to bobtail a gun aftermarket? Can it be done? How much would you guesstimate it to cost? How's the reliability? Regardless, I'm pretty sure I'm going to purchase the gun, I was just curious....... Thanks Trvlngnrs

Is the rubbing on the bottom a concern? The owner says there is an "idiot mark" from impropper disassebly, but I don't see it.

Hi everyone, I'd like your opinion on a gun purchase. I'm wanting a 1911 9mm. I have narrowed it down to 2 choices: 1) New STI Guardian $999 + S/H 2) Used Dan Wesson PM9. Reportedly 90% - 95% new condition. Asking $1,000 shipped. It's an online purchase from another forum. I understand they are both fairly nice guns, and the pricepoint is do-able for me. I realize that the STI is a bit smaller, that isn't real important as I have M&P's and Glock's that I carry, so I likely wont be carrying this gun. What are your thoughts on the two choices please? It'll be used mainly at the range, but it's main purpose is "because I want it" :-). I don't own any 1911 designed guns. Thank you in advance!! Trvlngnrs.

My 550 just arrived, here is my setup so far. I made the bench out of oak plywood with lots of 2X4 bracing underneath. Used a low gloss polyurethane finish on top. Doesn't flex at all. I haven't mounted the press yet, still trying out different locations. I may just clamp it down for a few test loads before mounting. I added storage to the sides of the workbench area to hold skinny things I'll be using alot, like the primer tubes, flip tray, case guages, etc.

Yeah!! My 550 with a bunch of goodies arrived Friday. It's my first reloading press. I ordered thru Brian on Feb 16, so it took about 8 1/2 weeks. I ordered everything for 9mm and .40, but I didn't get the 9mm dies. I hope it doesn't take another month or two to get those :-( I have all the components for 9mm, but haven't found any .40 bullets yet.... just my luck!

Should I worry yet?? I Ordered a 550 with all the goodies, along with .40 and 9mm dies and conversion kits on Feb 16th. The money was charged to my credit card a couple days later and a receipt was emailed to me. Haven't heard anything since. People who ordered after me have been getting their presses, or have been getting partial shipments on the available portions of their order.

I just backordered 5,000 Federal Match SPP's at Brownell's.

I'm going to be purchasing a Dillon 550B. This will be my first reloading press. Instead of reinventing the wheel I figured I'd ask more experienced reloaders for advice on a reloading bench setup. I have enclosed photos of my 3 car garage, which holds 3 vehicles, so I can't take a bay. Currently I have my workbench in the space between the two car portion and the one car portion. Initially I was going to bolt the 550B to my workbench. Drawbacks to this is that everything will be visible when I have the garage doors up (often, as I live in the desert), dust/dirt from being in the garage, loss of workbench space and collateral damage to equipment while working on other projects. Along the wall is a row of storage shelves and a closet which is hiding rakes, shovels, brooms, etc now. I was thinking of building a small dedicated reloading bench in the closet and adding shelves to the back wall. The closet's interior dimensions are 36" wide, 24" deep and 93" high. Advantages: everything in one spot, can keep door closed/locked, don't have to put everything away between sessions, cleaner, more protected. Disadvantages: more cramped, although I can put the tumbler on the workbench when in use. Do you guys think a table 36" wide x 24" deep is doable? I'm right handed, should the press (when I get it) go in the middle or to one side? Any other thoughts at this point? Again, this is all new to me, so I'm open to suggestions. Thanks for your help! Put it back together as you guys instructed and everything is great. The stock locked down nice and tight and no rattling. Thanks again!! Trvlngnrs

There is a black metal spacer underneath the oblong metal piece. The spacer was inside the plastic tube of the stock that the recoil spring tube slides into. The photo shows it on the left, then the oblong piece and the nut. Is this the spacer that goes between the nut and oblong piece? Maybe the prior owner put it back in the wrong order.

Hi guys, I just purchased a used FNH SLP. I noticed that there was something rattling in the stock when I shook it. I took the recoil pad off, and there is a oblong thin metal piece that is under the nut that holds the stock to the receiver. I tightened the nut but the metal piece still swings back and forth hitting each side of the stock. I downloaded the owners manual but it didn't address this. Can someone tell me what this piece is for and how I silence it? Thanks, Trvlngnrs

Thanks guys! I have a scope enroute to me. I ended up getting a 1-4 power scope that had the reticule on the first focal plane instead of the Trijicon.

I've thought of getting rid of the front sight. I hadn't thought of just cutting it off! I figured I had to get a gas block etc. If I cut it off, can I get a free float handguard to cover what's left of the front sight? If yes, which do you recommend? Trvlngnrs
