  1. from what I can tell the Chrome Molly and chrome lined are heavy barrel profiles.

I'm leaning towards a government profile to save on weight and I'll be pairing it with a vented free float tube.

The lightweight would be the lightest but I've read that they heat up quick and can have problems. I have no real world experience to know if that is correct or would be a real problem in a match.

  2. I'm looking to pick up a del-ton rifle kit and had a question on the barrel options. I'm fairly new to the AR world and still trying to understand all the parts and pieces. I have 4 barrel options and I don't know enough about the differences to know which would be best for 3-gun (local matches out to 200 yards).

    20" chrome molly

    20" chrome lined

    20" Government Profile

    20" Lightweight

    Any input would be appreciated.

  3. Anybody score those 24" non-ported 930 barrels form Mossberg yet. I got cash burning a hole in my pocket. How about it Mr. Hill.

Why don't you just get the 28" you have cut and threaded for chokes? I finally tracked down a 28" barrel and sent it off to be cut down to 22", threaded for chokes, new FO sight, lengthen and polish forcing cone and return shipping for $95.

    Who did that for you?

  5. I can't drop the slide with the lever on mine...it takes an insane amount of force to get it to drop. Quicker for me to slingshot it. With my Glock I could hit the slide release with my thumb as I got back on target but it's a no go with the M&P.

  6. I just got a Mossberg Waterfowl 12 guage 28" barrel and it is ported. Should have read the rules first. Tactical iron/ limited USPSA non-ported - open ported.

I plan on shooting production/tactical irons can you all recomend a non-ported 24/26" barrel with interchangeable chokes.

    .

I'll take the 28" barrel off your hands... I also have the 18.5 non-ported if you want to go that way

  7. I recently bought a used M&P that came with grip tape applied to the front strap area only. It appears to be factory cut and specific for the M&P. I want to buy another set for PRO I just bought. Anyone know who sells the M&P front strap only grip tape?

    Thanks

We have the Xtreme Grips laser cut grip tape in stock.

I have some of the Xtreme grips on mine and really like it. The only problem I have is the piece on the grip insert doesn't stay in place and I had to take it off. The front strap hasn't moved at all though.

  8. I did some accuracy on the indoor range but I'm a novice shooter, just got the M&P a month ago and put the APEX trigger in it today so I'm not sure my results are a good reflection of the loads. I will say that my groups were tighter with the 147gr than the 130gr and a 124gr Zero FMJ load I had, but all three were around 2" w/5shots at 15yards.

When I shot outdoors I did notice more smoke than factory ammo but it had just stopped raining and was very humid. I shot indoors after the chrono session and didn't really notice any more smoke than normal.

  10. I'm looking at getting an entry level AR for local 3-gun matches. I ran across a Delton in a local shop and found some good reviews online. I'm new to the world of ARs and I've been reading all I can about what is good and what isn't. On the Delton website they have a rifle kit for $800, that based on my limited knowledge seems pretty good. Does this look like a good entry level setup? I want something that is of good quality and affordable (<1000).

20" DTI 1X9 Light Weight Barrel (Chrome Moly) -- they do offer a chrome lined, no stainless

    Standard Gas Tube

    Vented FF Tube

Standard Bolt & Carrier -- they offer a chrome bolt & carrier

Magpul Commercial CTR Buttstock - Black

    A2 Grip - Black

    Phantom Aggressive End Comp/Brake

    Single Rail Gas Block

Lower Parts Kit with JP Adjustable Trigger

Standard Charging Handle with Badger Tac Latch

Flat Top Upper with M4 Feed Ramps

  11. Did some searches and didn't come up with much. Just looking for some opinions on N320 with BBIs.

I'm looking for a load for a M&P9L, 130gr or 147gr BBI with N320. I currently load 124gr Zero FMJs and haven't loaded a poly coated or lead bullet before but a lot of people seem to like BBIs and the price is right.

  12. I'm looking to put a burwell rear sight on and wanted to know what everyone is running for the front sight height? I've been digging through the numerous posts about sights for the pro and 9L but didn't see anyone who posted a setup for the burwell and FO front. I've seen mention of .305 for the Dawson adjustable rears.

  13. I got an email back from mesa tactical today.

"If the chicago screws are not too tight (ie, squeezing the receiver), this may be a result of the shafts of the screws not being a large enough diameter. This is a known problem and we are dealing with it by making new fasteners with a greater diameter. These should be completed in a week or so and we would be happy to send you replacements. Please give us a call in a week or so."

I tightened the screws finger tight as the directions stated, although the directions also said the screws were sized so they can be tightened without squeezing the action. I asked them to send me the replacement screws when they become available and I'll give it a try. Right now I have a $60 paperweight.
