  1. Ditto. Reasonable price and reasonable turnaround time.
  2. I shoot 60 Grain VMAXs over 23.2 grains of H335 into one inch holes with a Burris XTR 1-4 out of my 14.5 DD barrel.
  3. I should have been more specific... I use the 14.5" AR for cruising around the ranch in the golf cart thinning the ferral hog population and such. White tail and Nilgai rifle is chambered in 6.5 SAUM.
  4. Play Gun: 18" Hybrid contour 1:8 Barrel AAC Muzzle Brake Geissele 3GN Trigger JP Low Mass BCG Seekins adjustable gas block 15" Samson Rail 1-4 Burris XTR Scope Home Defense, Hunting, Everything else Gun: 14.7" M4 Contour 1:8 Barrel AAC Mini-4 Suppressor Geissele SSA-E Trigger Mil-Spec BCG non-adjustable gas block 13" Wilson Rail Aimpoint T-1 Red dot TLR-1 Light Magpul Sling So no, not the same for me. I have run my everyday gun in 3-Gun competitions and it is really fun! However I can go much faster with the lightened BCG and brake than I can with the standard BCG and suppressor. I usually only shoot factory out of the everyday gun. I load a 60gr VMAX for the competition gun that is a little more mild than factory. Hence the adjustable gas. -Shaky
  5. Is first place the JP or Boomfab?
  6. Just installed one with a new Criterion 18" barrel and a new JP Low Mass BCG. Easy to install and works great. I shot my first match with it on Saturday and everything worked perfect. No malfunctions of any kind. I am running Atlanta Arms and Ammo reman. 60 Gr. VMAX. I have the same gripe as everyone else... If the set screw were facing forward, I could adjust and set the gas without having to take off the hand guard. As it is, it takes some time. -Shaky
  7. I just ordered an 18" Criterion Barrel from Brownells. The barrel is the hybrid contour and has a rifle length gas system which I have never used. My plan is to use a Seekins adjustable block, carbine buffer tube, spring and buffer, and a low mass carrier of some brand. (I'm leaning towards JP right now) I also have a Miculek comp in the shop that I will start with. Does this sound right? Can I use the carbine buffer parts with rifle gas? I have read a ton of threads, but somewhere along the line I got confused. Thanks in advance! Shaky
  8. How are you guys polishing the spring and buffer tube? Thanks!
  9. Mine was first focal plane and the reticle disappeared completely at 1x when trying to shoot fast. Illumination wasn't daylight bright. The scope didn't "disappear" at 1x when you went to start shooting like how my Vortex does. I always "saw" the tube when shooting if that makes sense. I got the SFP model and had the same problem with the scope not "disappearing" at 1X. After a few trips to the range, I figured out I needed to adjust the diopter more and the problem went away. I'm really pleased with the scope now. Glass is great, I love the turrets and the scope feels like it is ready to take a bunch of abuse. Just my.02 -Shaky
  10. I have 2000 60 Gr. VMAX and an 8 pounder of H335. Is anybody using these components for their 3-gunning? I'm looking for a good load in a 16" AR. I'm running 23.2 grains right now but it is only doing 2650 in my gun. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks! -Shaky
  11. You have fed close to $50K in ammo through that gun... and people think the gun is the expensive part. Just Sayin'
  12. It did come with some Velcro. I'll give that a try. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Does anyone have a picture of where they mounted the Matchsaver on a Remington Versamax? I'm ready to install, but would like to see what others did first. Thanks!
  14. I just got mine back from Triangle yesterday. I sure am glad I had them do the work instead of trying to do it myself. I was not going to change out the lifter, but I'm glad they talked me into it! There is no way to catch my thumb in there now. I did about 20 quad loads last night with dummy rounds, and man what a difference! They slide in the magazine like a groundhog getting back in his hole. Another really nice thing is that I can now unload the magazine by depressing the shell latch. No more cycling rounds to unload. I'm super pleased with the work. If the Triangle folks want to chime in on costs for these upgrades, they can. I will just say that the price was VERY reasonable. i.e. A lot less than I was expecting. I'll get her out this weekend and do some live fire drills, and let you know how it goes. Here are a few pics. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. That's a really clean looking belt setup! What's the red stuff under your Teck-Loks? Red duc tape. Make thing really tight, zero movement That's what I thought! Thanks!

  17. Just an update: I have not fired a shot through mine yet. Made the 20 minute drive out to the range yesterday only to find a locked gate. I guess they were taking Memorial Day off, as well. Good for them... Everybody needs a little time off. I spent an hour or so the two previous nights working on the lifter and the shell latch. It's about 50-60% better than it was, but I still need to work on the latch. I have not trimmed the forend, but that should be the easiest of the mods, and it is absolutely necessay for quad loads. At this point, I am considering running the gun up to Triangle and letting Benny and the crew do the rest of the mods as they are only a couple hours north of me. I think the receiver can be opened up quite a bit more, and I know whatever they do will look alot more professional than what I can do. My dad has a Triangle VM, and it loads easier than any gun I have ever picked up. A couple of other notes: It is obvious that the gun was test fired before it left the factory. Good on Remington for making sure the thing runs before sending it out the door. What confuses me is why they wouldn't run a bore snake or something through the darn thing after they shot it. I spent damn near an hour working on the barrel to get it clean and I've never even loaded a live round through the thing. I ended up using a brush wrapped in steel wool and a cordless drill to finally get the fouling out. That is without a doubt the hardest barrel to get clean I have ever dealt with. I would not have paid that much attention, but my dad's gun has had fouling in the barrel since the day he got it. He can't get the barrel clean to save his life and has decided just to live with it. Last thing: Since someone test fired the gun, it stands to reason that they had to load it. The gun was so hard to load before any of my mods, that I am surprised it passed QC. Loading one shell at a time was a painful, two-handed affair... load twos and quads were impossible. Thanks for all the help, and I'll keep you guys informed as I move forward. -J
  18. When removing the shell latch, do you push the pin up toward the ejection port or down towards the loading port?
  19. Just picked up my VM Comp from the dealer and ran home to try to do a few loads. As mentioned here, the lifter and shell catch need some work. I'll get on it tonight and see if I can get it resolved. Thanks!
  20. Thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for. Should have the gun in my hands by the end of the week.
  21. Thanks! That forend looks great. -J
  22. Do you have a picture of this work? Mine is inbound and I would like to get it ready for a match this weekend. Thanks!
  23. That is good to know. I have been less than gentle with mine... I will be more careful.
