  1. I have had the SDB since 95 and load 9mm and .45 ACP. It doesn't take long to switch calibers, I make a run of 9 or .45 until I have enough. Right now I seem to be keeping it on .45. I use a single stage for .223 but that may change in the future, if I ever go to 3 gun.
  2. You can't understand why people keep giving you funny looks while you sit next to the wave pool at the WI Dells. (reading your copy of Practical Shooting) Just got back home, back to work tomarrow
  3. Started May 2010. First C class, hopefully more to come.
  4. Thanks for the report, I have been thinking about getting one of these. I saw Aim Surplus has them for $329 and saw a few on Gun Broker.
  5. During practice today I tried plugs and electronic muffs together. I could still hear with the muffs turned up, but the noise level was a lot lower. I will be using both now during matches, the noise seemed less distracting and I found myself watching the sight better.
  6. What are your thoughts on how often I should completely strip my 1911 for cleaning? After a certain round count or before a big match?
  7. Good Job , for now I would like to get a B in one class

    World Cup

It's like hockey but with more grass, a ball and no fighting. It's like hockey but without the fun stuff like scoring points, fighting, blood, and lost teeth.
  9. I ended up 27th in Single Stack. Not the best finish, but I met my goals (no DQ, have fun, learn and watch good shooters). I have shot one local match since Area 5, and will not get to shoot in July due to a busy schedule. I did get signed up for Area 3 and the IL Sectional in August. I have a month to get ready, I'm going to work on moving faster. I took my time at Area 5 and have lots of room for improvement.
  10. Welcome, haven't been here long myself. I have learned a lot and people always seem eager to help answer questions.
  11. I use 200gr SWC from SNS over 5.0 WST. Average velocity out of 5" Kimber is 856 for a power factor of 173. I did use Red Dot for a short time but it seemed dirty and smoked more. I have a bunch of AA #5 I use for 9mm that I may have to try with some .45 rounds.
  12. I just ordered several springs to try out. 14 & 15 recoil and 17 & 18 main springs. I will be trying these in a Kimber Classic Custom 5" .45 1911. 200g SWC, 5.0 WST PF 173. Any issues I should be aware of? Thanks
  13. Sherwyn, Have you decided which stages and are going to be used at Area 3?
  14. Kimber night sights were on it. I went with the .100 and put the set on just prior to Area 5. I'm glad I switched, the night sights were three dot and I had a hard time finding the center dot while shooting quickly.
  15. I only have the Dillon muffs, my wife got them for me. I have only used them since Feb. but I can't complain. Sure is a lot better than my old muffs or cheap plugs.
  16. Sent my registration in the mail yesterday. Shooting SS, looks like its going to be a good time.
  17. I use 115gr fmj over 6.3gr of AA #5. Works great and I use the same load in 9mm pistols. Mine is also a RRA 9mm, no problems with C-product mags either.
  18. The wife is going to be out of town for the weekend. The drive is about 8 hours for me from IL, but I might have to give it a go after having so much fun at area 5.
  19. Did you have someone is specific in mind? The answer to the question is yes, but I don't want to post everyone online. There are security issues, both civilian and law enforcement, which prevent me from doing so. That would be a nice option for the USPSA website. They already have a password system in place and could add that to the results page pretty easy. I can tell you how you and a buddy did overall if that's what you want to see. Best, JT PM sent.
  20. Jim, Just got my vote in, hope it is in Tri County next year. Is a list available of how shooters scored overall, not just by division? Thanks again, I had a great time.
  21. Thanks to all the staff and the guys I shot with. This was my second match and my first was a classifier last month. I'm glad I asked you guys about shooting this match. I had a blast and got to meet a lot of good people. I had a few friends come and watch, looks like we may have a few more new shooters. Patrick Linder
