  2. Nice blaster! I´ll try to keep my head cool and do only minor modifications to the gun. Maybe I should open up the sight picture little bit and add some skateboard tape to the grip. First thing to do is make sure it works every time the trigger is pulled. It´s so frustrating to try to shoot your best with a jamming pistol. Maybe I should have bought G17 and start to compete in production as was my initial plan.
  3. Thanks for the replies. I have decided to buy it and take my chances I have a whole year to get familiar with it becouse this coming IPSC competition season I will shoot with my old pistol anyway. Here´s a pic of the gun:
  4. Is it becouse the non-ramped barrel doesn´t support the case as well as ramped barrel would? I didn´t find any bulged cases from the ammo I shot. - Antti
  5. Hello! I am trying to decide should I buy 2nd hand like-new condition Bul M5 Governmet .40S&W widebody pistol. The price is good and the gun looks to be in very good condition, like brand new. This pistol is older Bul model with square trigger guard. It has non-ramped barrel. I test fired it with three different factory ammunition: 180 gr FMJ S&B, 170 gr FMJTC Leader and 180 gr FMC Magtech - 50 rounds each. I had 2 FTF with S&B and got the slide locked back few times during the session. I believe the slide got locked back becouse of my poor grip. I think my thumb wasn´t resting on the safety lever and I might have rised the slide locking lever with my thumb during recoil. Is there problems with case life when you have .40 S&W cal non-ramped barrel and want to reload IPSC STD Major ammunition? Should I reload my ammo to COL 1.16"-1.2" to achieve better reliability and function? The factory ammo I tried had COL around 1.12". I have been adviced against buying this pistols since there were some reliability issues with these pistols when they were imported to my country late 90´s. There are no gunsmiths who know 1911 type pistols well in Finland so if there are problems with the gun I propably have to deal with it own my own. Luckily I have already bought book ´Gunsmithing: Pistols and Revolvers´ by P. Sweeney. Any words of wisdom to help me out...? - Antti
  6. Have anyone tried this rail extender from Hahn Precision? http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/Pro...+TACTICAL+RAILS I have a pair of Tactical Precison high rings which are about 0,6" high measured from bottom of the ring to inside bottom of ring saddle. With this rail extender and rings the scope would be 1,1" high. Does that place the scope too high?
  7. Is it possible to set up scope with long eye relief (Simmons Pro-Diamond) so that the one scope mount is attached to the flat top receiver rail and the other to the rail on the new JP V-Tac hand guard? Would that set-up compromise the accuracy or not? I want to build a rifle using the standard A3/A4 upper receiver. I already have a pair of good quality Picatinny scope mounts (high). -Antti
  8. I am going to purchase my first AR this year. I have been trying to decide whether I should buy rifle with chrome lined barrel or not. My number one priority is the reliability and accuracy comes in second. I would be satisfied to 1-2" MOA accuracy @ 300 meters. I am probably getting the 5.56 NATO chamber even if it would mean loss in accuracy. I want a rifle that´s able to shoot all kinds of ammunition from Wolf to military surplus. I am going to use my rifle in IPSC and 3gun-type military shooting all-year-round in sometimes harsh climate of Finland. Is there significant reliability difference with chrome lined chambers and chambers without it? I have understood that chrome lined chamber is easier to clean and that it helps the case extraction by reducing the friction between chamber wall and the case. Moisture and powder residues builds up quicker to chambers without chrome lining. Are there truth in these claims? -Antti
  9. There are also that opinion(?) that the problem with old Wolf .223 ammunition was not the lacquer coating the cases. The problem was the the red bullet sealant. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&...t=225191&page=1

  11. AFAIK Beretta owns both Benelli and Vursan. When Vursan started making pretty good Benelli style shotguns Beretta decided it´s better to buy the Turkish company than start competing with it´s low cost products. Just my 2 cents. -AS Finland
  12. Right now I am helping my brother in choosing his first pistol. CZ 75 IPSC in 9mm Luger could be excellent choice since it has all the custom features already "built-in". Other choices we have been considering are Tanfoglio Combat with some modifications, Tanfoglio Match and Tanfoglio Limited. If the new 9 mm CZ 75 IPSC will be in the same price range as the .40 S&W modell it will be very good choice. Hope they´ll release it soon. -AS Finland
  13. FYI this European distributer is propably Frankonia in Germany (http://www.frankonia.de). I have their catalogue and there is 9mm Coversion kit for CZ 75 Standard IPSC (729 euros). There is also this black 75 Standard IPSC with large mag funnel. It´s called Team Edition II. Trigger, hammer, slide lock and safety lever have also stainless steel finish. It is available in 9mm Luger and .40 S&W. The price is 1599 euros. I could try to scan the page for you if you want to take a better look. You can also order the Frankonia catalogue from their web page for 10 euros.
  14. Thank you for the info. It is sometimes hard to translate some special terms as most dictionaries don´t usually cover them at all. ---- AS
  15. Could anyone explain me what barrel liners are? They are mentioned in State Department´s list of gun parts that need export license. The other parts needing export license are barrels, actions and receivers. ---- AS
