  2. That is same sp-01 shadow everyone shoots all over the world and that is its regular price. The various other custom shadows, except the 75 shadow, are just customized versions of that gun (different sights, grips, springs, hammers, etc) but they all start their lives looking like the one you linked. As far a popularity goes here are the guns of the top 16 finishers from this years nationals: 1. Ben Stoeger Beretta 92 Elite 2 2. Rob Leatham Springfield XDM 5.25 3. Dave Sevigny Glock 34 4. 3. If you are having any custom work done I would just order from CZ custom to save time and shipping.
  4. I had a m&p pro with the apex kit and I own xdm with a custom shop trigger job. IMO the sa triggers on the cz shadow, polymer guns with kits and 1911 are all usuable triggers, but for production the cz was just plain easier to shoot, it fits my hand like a glove and i am noticebly more accurate with it. I sold the m&p, the xdm is a nightstand gun and I compete with the cz. I personally like the design of the CZ better then the 1911, I dont like the grip safeties and I like the large fram area to put your thumbs on the CZ due to the internal slide when using the "thumbs forward" grip, imo the only thing the 1911/2011 series guns have on the cz design is a plethora of manufacturers, parts, and smith support.
  5. If I was shooting both IPDA and USPSA I would just remove the dropped offset attachment and wear the holster on the belt, no sense learning two draws and constantly switching things out, I doubt your times woudl be that much different either.
  6. With the extended firing pin my shadow is 100% with winchester primers and the 11.5 lb hammer spring from CGW in DA. I had CGW modify the disconnector to shorten the DA pull and with the 11.5 hammer spring and extended firing pin from their kit I was getting FTF with winchester primers on the first DA shot and had to go 15lb spring to get reliable ignition for the first DA shot. I found I prefered the 11.5 spring and unmodified disconnector with the longer pull then the 15lb spring with the shorter DA stroke and reinstalled an unmodified disconnector. With federal primers I was getting 100% DA ignition with 11.5 even with the modfied disconnector, however I like the option of being able pick up some white box in an emergency. If you look the DA stroke of the cz is slightly shorter then the SA stroke even with an unmodified diconnector, modfiying the diconnector makes it even shorter and thus imparts even less energy on the firing pin. Personally I view the long DA stroke of the CZ as a double edged sword, yes it is long however I think its the reason the CZ has such a sweet DA pull compared to most DA guns as it allows you to run lighter hammer springs. That being said the CGW Ultra lite double action kit is worth the money imo. If you were not as lazy as me you can run the 8.5 spring and federal primers only and have an unheard of 5-6 lb DA pull with very little fuss or work on your part. Putting on thin grips will also increase the reach of your fingers.
  7. The pin walks out on my kensight, I just put a drop of blue loctite on each end of the pin and that stopped it. Make sure you wipe off the excess and I compressed the elevaton spring a few times to make sure the loctite wasnt binding anything up.
  8. Nevermind, Dawson offers way more sizes for their CZ fiberoptics.

  10. I rest my thumb on the safety just like a 1911, works great. BTW I have tried about all the production guns and shoot the shadow the best.
  11. trigger spring, fiber optic cable, slide release
  12. dry fire away, although trigger springs are known to occasionally break they are easy and cheap fix.
  13. My shadow with the kadet kit top end on does not fit in my bladetech doh holster very well, even with the tension screws loosened all the way. Does any holster maker make a holster that will fit the shadow with the kadet kit top end? Thanks.
  14. It occured to me that two of the guns most mentioned here are the Shadow and Sig X-five, both heavy steel framed guns. I think part of the reason these guns are so accurate for alot of people is that heavier guns are easier to hold steady on a target, they dont seem to be affected so much by those small muscle tremors most everyone has when shooting something long range free style. I know alot of bench rest rifles are often quite heavy. Benchrest shooting grew from varmint hunting, where the shooters would aim for highly accurate rifles, using mostly .22 caliber cartridges. Initially, competitors could use just about any gun they wished. Eventually, classes of guns were created to enhance the sport's competitiveness. For example, centerfire group shooting encompasses the "Light Varmint" (maximum 10.5 pounds (4.8 kg) overall), "Heavy Varmint" (13.5 pounds (6.1 kg) overall), "Sporter" (10.5 pounds (4.8 kg), and .243 caliber or greater), and "Unlimited" classes.
  15. Anything over: 63.5 millimeter = 2.5 inch is extended. I confirmed this with the custom shop and my own measurments. The orginal thread was tossed by a mod. The mod said a vendor posted in it. Well, I'm going to have to measure the one they sent again and make sure on my 2.468 measurement and give them a call. I should have said anything = to or over 63.5 millimeter = 2.5 inch is extended. 2.499 would be close enough though.
  16. IT would appear that concerning front sight height: 75/85/sp01 factory height is cz custom's 5.5mm shadow f/o factory height is cz custom's 6.0mm custom shops tactical/competition/LPA "bo-mar" style replacement sights use a 6.5 mm T/S factory fixed use a 7.5mm Dawson .170 height = custom shop 6.0mm Dawson .215 height = custom shop 7.5mm Sound right?

  18. That's quite possibly true in Sevigny's case. But in the Vogel the video, has the slide locked back and says "see, I'm actually touching the bottom of the slide", with his strong hand. He spends 7 min talking about the particulars of his grip. The web of his hand is clearly over the lip and behind the gun. Later he says that if it's barley cutting him, he knows he's doing the right thing. I'd put up a screen grab, but I don't know if that would violate copyright or forum rules. Not saying this is right for everybody, though I think few would argue that it's wrong for him. It's just that I watched it and had a "whoa, am I doing this all wrong?" moment. If it's just him though, I think I'll stick with the old grip. That way I don't have to buy band-aids in bulk. mobiusnc PS. I should mention that he says it's not going to work for everyone and that some people will really get cut up doing it. My hand gets cut from the normal below the lip grip. Also isnt the slide possibly contaminated with lead? If it is contaminated with lead is it really such a great idea to have it touching an open wound repeatedly?
  19. My shadow has a 6 lb DA pull a 3 lb SA pull and it resets as soon as the trigger leaves the frame. You probably tried a stock 75b, which do have long resets due to the firing pin block and heavy pulls do to heavy stock springs and their hammers are not the greatest either. As far as the shadows popularity, I think it has more to do with the ergo's and accuracy then weight and barrel lenght.
  20. What are the recommended sources of heat? Would a lighter work? Hot air gun, butane torch though that may be too much. So a cigarrette lighter would not work?

  22. What is sheet shim? What sort of metal is it? Steel, aluminum? What are you using for a heat source? Thanks
