Thank you for all the feedback. I am looking forward to getting out to try the X5. I have never even shot any Sig before. Going to be a little cool here in Ohio on Saturday for the match. In the uppers 20’s in the morning and warm up to 40.

I picked up a new X5 Legion today. I have been out of shooting for about two years. I mainly shoot IDPA and primarily used Glocks. I don’t expect the X5 to magically make me a better shooter, but some of the enjoyment for me is trying different guns. This is my first experience with Sig, so I have a few questions before my match on Saturday. I plan on doing a lot of research to learn about the P320, but hoping for a few tips. I plan on shooting IDPA ESP and leave the magwell on. My gun weighed 42.5 ozs, so it is below the 43 oz IDPA limit. I will get out to the range once before the match to put rounds through it to adjust the sights if needed. Questions: Is it OK to dryfire without snap caps? I plan on using Blazer Brass 124gr. Should I go ahead and change to the 12lb recoil spring before I put any rounds through it? I have read that the 14lb spring has caused some failures with lower powered ammo. What would be the possible negative impact to switching to the 12lb spring? The mag release is a little difficult for me to get to. Probably about the same as Glock Gen3. Is an extended mag release available? Any other tips for someone new to the X5 would be appreciated. I am looking forward to learning about the X5 and starting shooting it.

Jeff O, thank you very much for the detailed info. Seems like an excellent setup. Sorry, I have quite a few more questions. I wonder if the newest guns might come with the extended mag release. In the catalog, the two tone shows the extended one. What is different about the grips? Are they smaller? I have S/M hands and a little concerned about reach to the trigger mag release? I assume the reach to the trigger is longer than a Glock 34, especially to the DA pull? Which mag pouches work better, CZ or Beretta? I would order the dual mag pouch from Comptac and holster from Redhill. Have you had any functional problems, especially during matches? Are spare parts available? How “flat” does the Bersa shoot compared to a G34? Overall, how have you performed with the Bersa compared to polymer striker fired guns in IDPA? I think part of the fun of shooting is trying out different guns and this case a new platform. Thanks again for your help.

I was considering buying one of these for SSP. Does not seem to be much info about the gun. I assume that is just because Bersa is not very popular. Other than the small mag release, are there any other concerns with the gun? Has it been reliable? Are extra parts available?

I think the G48 grip will feel very good. Could be a nice gun for IDPA CCP also.

Since the Shadow Orange has a tighter slide and barrel fit, is there a chance the gun would be more likely to have functional issues?

I assume the Shadow 2 could be shot in the SPD division. Is that correct? I believe that is a division for guns that do not meet the requirements.

Just checking to see if this discussion about a crack is a real concern or not? I might buy a Shadow 2 that was purchased new in November, so I am trying to see if there is a concern.

Does the flared magwell area on the Gen 5 make it easier to change mags for competition? Is the accuracy improved with the new barrel?

Checked the Glock spring and it is 5 1/8”

Received my SS guiderod today that I ordered directly from them. Fast delivery and great service. I asked them to ship it to me without the spring installed. I installed a new 13lb IMSI Glock spring. I am concerned that it might be a little bit too light. If I do a press check even without a round in the barrel it returns slowly. If I try the Glock recoil test of holding trigger back with the muzzle pointing straight up, the slide does not always return to full battery. Not exactly sure if this test is also valid with a PPQ. I will order and try a 15lb spring. I noticed some are using a spring for a Wilson gun. Is there any reason this would perform different than the Glock spring?

I just ordered the SS Guiderod and a 13lb Glock IMSI spring. Hopefully the Glock spring will work out OK.

Shot my Q5 for the first time today. I tried Blazer and AE 124gr and I liked the AE better. Seem to have slightly less recoil and shooting was more consistent. Normally I run Blazer but think I will pick up a case of AE and see how it works. I think I will order a guide rod from ZR Tactical and try 13lb and 15lb springs. Liked the adjustable rear sight. Easy to get POA=POI. I would also like a little deeper notch on the rear sight like what I saw Memphis do, but stock is not too bad. Will be using the Q5 at the end of the month in an IDPA match.

Thanks for the feedback. I did pick up some Blazer 124, AE 124 and AE 147 to try. All 3 passed the plunk test. Hopefully can hit the range tomorrow to try them out.

Picked up a Q5 today. Looking forward to using it in IDPA and possibly try USPSA. Ordered a holster from Redhill. I have a question about factory ammo. I read on here that the PPQ has a short chamber. I typically use Blazer Brass 124 gr. Should this ammo run fine in the PPQ. I am out of ammo now and need to order a couple cases. My other thought is to try AE 124 gr. How does the AE compare to the Blazer in length and overall performance? Might also investigate options on running 13 or 15 lb recoil spring and get thinner Dawson front sight.

Picked up a new 2.0 to use for IDPA. I have not shot it yet, but I really like the new grip texture. The slide release in very hard to release on the left side with a mag in it. Not sure if it will get easier with some use or if I should lightly sand and polish the engagement area. Does anyone have experience with this? Also, I need to pick up a holster for IDPA. Will a holster for the 1.0 work? For example, a Bladetech.

Yeah, I probably should start reloading. I have not been too dedicated to shooting last couple of years. Only shoot about 1500 rounds a year.

Thanks for the info. I get my ammo from Targetsportsusa. Are you using a stock striker?

I was just comparing AE124 to BB124 and at least by numbers, AE has 142 PF compared to BB of 135. AE is $12 a box vs BB at $10. I am going to grab a couple boxes of AE to give it a try.

I have never had a single problem with Blazer, so I have not tried anything else. Which ammo would have softer primers? Southpaw, yes it is hard to beat Dawsons policy of giving you additional sights until you get it right.

About 5 years ago I started shooting handguns. Glock was the first gun I bought and used in IDPA. Since then, I have tried many different handguns. Part of it was fun trying out different guns and I suppose I was looking for the perfect gun. Well, I decided to try Glock again and my plan is to not change this time. I picked up a new G17 Black Vickers edition. I really like the RTF2 texture. This version does not seem quite as aggressive as the original fish gills version, but I still like it. This version comes with the Wilson combat black U shape and gold bead front. I have never used a U shape rear or a gold bead sight. I think I will just remove those and sell them. Initial questions to set up my Glock. For sights, I was thinking about Dawsons since they have many options. Their standard set is a 0.225 tall rear with a 0.205 tall front. I like the idea of starting out with a shorter rear sight. For ammo, I only use Blazer Brass 124gr. If anyone has feedback on using this ammo with Dawsons, I would appreciate info on what you used to get POA=POI? For my trigger setup, I am going to keep it fairly simple initially. Going with polish job, Glock minus connector and reduced power firing pin block spring. I want to keep the Glock reliability and would also prefer to keep the stock striker. With the Blazer ammo, would it be reasonable to go with the Wolf 5lb striker spring and still get 100% reliability?

IDPA box is also 6" tall. 20 rd mags will not fit.

I would like to buy a magwell that is legal for IDPA CCP? I am aware of 2 that I believe would work. They are Agency Arms and the Taran Tactical Carry magwell. If anyone has experience with either one of these or another one, I would appreciate your feedback.

Picked up a G34 Gen4 and considering trying the Taran Tactical sights. Will be using Blazer Brass 124gr. Are the Taran Tactical sights setup for POI=POA? Seems like they should be close since front sight is 0.235. I believe typical G34 sights use 0.245.
