  1. Did someone say lefty thumbrest? I make one that has a shield that protects your thumb from having casing any casinng fail and rip a hole in your thumb. I experienced it for my self and I'm glad I had it on. Just got my account squared away so now I can post and answer my mail again. http://s1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa338/seansumner/ Check this out for now and tell me what you think.
  2. So I used it at the last two matches locally and I can't say enough about it. I love the control I gain. Seeing tht dot just snap back into the center of my Doctor is sweet! Great recoil management and consistant grip every time! I can't wait to hear from Jordan and get his input!
  3. So Tanfoglio mags work in caspian frames? can that go vise sersa? I was just looking on the Caspian site and they have 9mm mags for sale and I'm wondering whether or not I should buy one to try out on my stock 2. I'd like to use it in limited division bt the EAA 9mm mags aren't the greatest. I know the mags don't look the same.
  4. This thumb pedal doesn't have to be removed in order to access the slide stop pin so once it's on that's it. Your thumb is responsible for 70% of your grip strength. The ability to use it is a huge advantage and why so many shooters swear by it. I went and tested the pedal out and was blown away on just how much more control I had over the recoil recovery. I was able to relax my arms more, focus on trigger control and feel confident that after each shot my dot would return to center every time. The method I used was a plate rack at 45ft. 200 rounds without it then 200 rounds with it. What I found was that under major power ammo I still had the perfect grip every time with the pedal. It was the deciding factor for me. One thing we strive for as a competition shooter is consistency and this is what the thumb pedal brought to me. The perfect grip even after rapid fire and reloads. The bonus to that was the shot recovery. It seemed the more I relaxed and just kept a firm weak hand grasp the better and better the dot would return to center and the faster I was able to shoot! If you ever had any problems transitioning from target to target and truing up your dot here is your answer to the problem. The pedal in these pictures is a custom one I did for Jordan O. one of Rudy projects sponsored shooters. I beveled the thumb pad to the shape of his thumb and polished the exposed parts to a mirror finish. The beveling of the thumb is a huge advantage because it isolates your thumb to the same position every time and it feels like a part of you. costs quite a bit more because it takes forever to hand file the bevel into place.
  5. I'll be running it at the next Kitsap match on tis coming Saturday! I am hoping to have some magazines that work by then. I hope you'll be there! We'll have to squad up!
  6. I have developed a left handed thumb rest that can be positioned differently, provides a shield for your thumb so no matter how hard you grip the pistol you don't have to worry about having to rub the slide and also provides protection for your thumb from a poorly ejected round. The initial holes drilled are so the thumb pedal can fit the layout of the serendipity C-more plus has additional holes so you can position it up close or further away. The position of the week hand is crucial in order to get the right grip. The way the rest sits allows you to keep the forward cant of your wrist which is recommended by most top shooters. (Check out what Max Michel has to say about the grip on YouTube).
  7. Here is my lefty blaster! It's a shorty in 9 major. The thumb pedal is done by TRIGGER HAPPY components. This is one of three models they make. The thing is incredible! No more slide rub like with the other thumb rests. Plus it protects your thumb from getting hurt from a bad ejection. PM me if your interested.
  8. You can tell by the magazine. Show a photo of that. Large frame has an indention, small frame doesn't. It looks like a small frame to me. The distance between the safety and the slide stop is different. I'm green with envy!
  9. If you think of it, how often does your trigger mechanism operate like that? Anser, never. You break the trigger and the gun goes to reset. The sear lands back down on the hammer and it's ready to go again. In tight tolerences you'll find a little contact especially just after the trigger job. If you like how it breaks now, run it and let it break in a bit. If it really bothers you, adjust the travel out a bit after the break. This will allow the sear to clear more. Either way it's not going to hurt much.
  10. I think the best deal is through EAA corporation. If you go to their site you can order them there or get the phone number from the site and give them a call. 3 magazine for $75 isn't a bad price. You could also go through Henning to get them. I believe his prices a similar. http://www.henningshootsguns.com/ http://www.eaacorp.com/
  11. I took it out to the plate match last night with much success. I really liked the snappiness of the trigger. I made a mixed bag of ammo to shoot last night. I used three different kinds of primers and two different weights of bullets. Federals small pistol, Winchester small rifle and CCI small pistol magnums. It was a total of 300 rounds that I went through. This is the part that I'm so glad to say. All rounds ignited! No light strikes what so ever! The CCI spm were the ones I was most worried about so I made sure to inspect the casings and there were no signs of light strikes at all. Such a relief! Now if I can only get my conversion kit to work. My friends down at the range always give me a hard time because there's always something I'm doing to my guns. One guy said that someone should take away my power tools before I end up with half a gun. In so many ways he's right!
  12. I'll check it out tonight. I'll give you dimensions at the peak of them. I'll also have some more pics to post. I just didn't have any time last night to finish. The wife was cranky after Yoga class. Got to love Yoga!
  13. EAA's tech support- "What? Your NOT a certified gunsmith? Sorry about your luck! You could always buy a new one and start again." Thanks EAA!
  14. This gives your the profile of how low the bullets sit down in the mag. Tapping downward on the lips lower the position of the bullets and narrow them. This image shows how there is only room enough for one bullet to feed so double feeds aren't an issue any more additionaly the frnt of the mag prevents the nose dive for there is no room to angle down.
  15. Tomorrow I'm trying my new setup to see if it will work. I lost the dang firing pin block so I'm rolling the dice to see if the pin will be close enough to the rim.
  16. Wow! That's quite the difference from stock! The 22lr hammer really looks cool installed. I have research to do with the 22lr conversion now! One thing I notice is the point of which the firing pin makes contact with the 22lr. in my conversion. It's just inside of the rim so it's not hitting the rim itself Do you think this might have something to do with it?
  17. Is that extreme parts or extreme copywrite/pattent infringment? lol Something like that. Just as long as the funds are going to the guy who made it all happen. Go Henning!
  18. I think the problem I had with it was the magazines catch. I don't think I had the shims up high enough to keep the mag from shifting side to side. I took down the nub on my mag release a touch to smooth the drop of my mags and when I would insert and start to fire the thing would drop out. I used it just a few times before the glue gave up along with me on the thing. If you got it to work, cudos! Maybe I'll have to give it another go. I like CZ's 26 round big stick and if I was able to get that to work for my future Tanfo open gun that would be the cats meow!
  19. So I haven't quite figured out the Photo bucket!
  20. So I went ahead and cut away on the hammer. It's not much to look at but I heard someone say once that pretty guns that don't work are not better than ugly guns that do. Not that mine wasn't working. I just want to be able to use any type of primer and use my rim fire conversion. I broke out the pen for the pen test. Before I started cutting on it I stuck a pen down the barrel to see how far the firing pin would shoot the pen out when I squeezed the trigger. I recorded the distance so when I did the modification I would have a bench. So I put the pen down the barrel and squeezed. To my surprise it went about two more feet than it did before. I went and picked up the pen and did it again to see if i was just holding it different. Still two feet more and then some! Eureka!! The feel of the trigger is dramatically different than when it was stock. It's as though I put the thing into warp speed! The snap of it is so right now! I did the test in single action and double with the same result. I would now feel confident in dropping the spring weight considerably to lighten the trigger up. Not that I would because I went that route prior to a match and let's just say thank god I was pointing it in the direction of the target! A hair trigger isn't always the best trigger. I'll be taking it to a plate match to try it out on Thursday. I'll give you all the results when I get the chance. Thanks again to all of you for the input over this subject. This is quite crucial to me for I am attempting to develop a trigger package for this particular gun and have it for sale in the near future. I can currently get a consistent 2lb 3oz trigger using Federal primers but I'd like to get that weight with the ability to use any primer. Reliability and consistency is the key and I have to say that I'm headed in the right direction Thanks to you! Sean.
  21. I have an issue with my Dr. Mine rides on the slide and it has a tendency to turn off in recoil. I bought it used through the forum so I don't have a manual to see if this is typical or not. Plus i don't know what it could be. So where do I go from here? I wrote grams engineering to see if they had a response. From what I understand, they bullet proof the Dr.'s so it would be good to here from him. We'll see what boils up.
  22. I'm jumping in head first on this one! I've traced out what I'm going to take off at first. It is a substantial amount but from what I saw in weight difference of the low mass one on my open gun and the previous hammer I'm only half way there. I'll keep posting as I make progress.
  23. OK guys. I just figured out the whole photobucket thing. I'll have the pics of the magazine with a detailed explanation of the what and whys with them. I'm at work right now so I have to wait to get home to do it. They will be up this evening for sure. Boy am I not a computer guy! lol
  24. That's the answer I was looking for! I knew their had to be a mathematical equation to the it! Now to determine the energy created by a fifteen lb hammer spring! The hammer I swapped out of my open gun wasn't an ultra light hammer and I had all kinds of problems with light strikes and when I switched no more problems. The guy who invented guns never would have done it if he never pulled the trigger. The hammer is hitting the band saw!!! Wish me luck! Thank you all for your posts! Every bit of info is helpful and it's nice to get it from so many prospectives.
  25. I believe Mecgar is the maker of the tanfoglio magazine. A friend of mine bought some Megcar mags for his Tanfo. and they looked totally identical. OH yah, front spacers to boot! I know, bummer! You would figure Mecgar would tighten up their tolerances. They do a bang up job on every other mag they sell. If i could only get a SVI mag to fit! Oh well.
