  1. Lots of good threads. See: castboolits, the firing line, the high road and others. All deal with this topic; lead in blood. My Dr. isolated lead stryphonite in primers as a main cause. Long story short; wash everything after shooting. Hands face body clothes. Probably same for casting smelting and loading. I did and now lead in blood going down. It takes years.
  2. don't listen to the RO! he told me to pick up one cartridge that fell: so i ran short of time to finish all other targets. never again.
  3. Memphis, much obliged, I had used handloads.com that works too.
  4. Hi Ya, I would tend to agree but then what is sound advise? So far I am using CCI small pistol primer. And 6.0 gn. #5. Seat to 1.10-1.13”. Probably just under 1000’ps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Burned Out, I really like your set up. Whenever someone tells me he hasn't room for reloading I think of you. anyway a good light for the OP is sold by UniqueTec. see their website, cheap item fits Dillon's. Much obliged,
  6. Outdoor targets were almost all steel. THey go ding when hit. I need to take this bad boy to a USPSA match where we have a mix of steel and paper. In our informal indoor matches one needs bullseye precision. I guess that’s what made me doubt the XD. I’m glad you asked. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Hi Ya, after 22,000 I notice widening target spreads when indoors. However I used this gun extensively for steel matches outdoor. Is it time to retire it? Or a new barrel? i had sent it to SA a while ago. All they said was it was fine: did they change anything like striker springs? I don't know. Just to complicate it all I installed https://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/truglo/ trijicon fibre optics after the target sights failed from age. oh, and my age now? super senior. did i answer my own questions?
  8. not wanting to hi jack your thread so i will make a separate one. but my ? is similar i have 22,000 rounds on my XD9-Tac. see my new thread.
  9. hmmm, same problem at GSSF matches. Now they have a plate rack $5 for 10 shots. Gets pricy but I hid my lunch money in my sock and skipped lunch for while. ?
  10. Moly likes slower burn, this from Bear Creek Supply. Scan Aug 12, 18.pdf
  11. hi Guys, I am trying it under 124gn Moly, 6.0 works fine. I am not sure if the Moly needs much more than the lead itself. But that is the load we got with 115gn Plated also. So here we go! the internet is again my friend!
  12. Hi Chuck, it worked fine. yes they were posted later on. good match; showed where i need improvement. now i am hooked on doing it again.
  13. ok, so i did my own research: Western load book shows AA#5 good with all three weights and types of plated bullets I use currently. Only drawbacks I see are that AA #5 is hot and the moly coated bullets like a slower powder. Do you concur?
  14. we are using more 124 and 115gn plated. i guess i may have to borrow friends chrono.
  15. Hi, We got several pounds of Accurate #5 from a Commercial loader who went out of biz. he used AA #5 6gn to load 115 gn plated at 1.15" oal. is that good for USPSA shooting? or should we go hotter load?
  16. so i shot the 3gun match; turned out good for me. i am definitely slower than before, not sure if it is the pistol or my reaction time. rifle work needs help, i have no fluidity with it. the good part; i went 2 hours early and helped set up. so they didn't charge me for the match. so since i had my $20 in hand i bought raffle tickets. i won $100 in product. good match
  17. well i haven't done a steel competition in over two years; so here goes... this weekend. I will take my newly re-minted CZ75B SA of course the new barrel bushing will help, on the other hand i am two years more into being a 'super senior'. that's what GSSF calls me. anyway its all the same accuracy as ever. did i do the right thing? so what. i have it now. thanks for the encouragement guys!
  18. So assuming I can shoot the pistol and shotgun targets with my 9mm, how many .223’s do I need for the rifle part? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Chuck. PM me if you are interested in shooting the match. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. It’s WEGC Lytle Creek. Still a few places left. Are you thinking of going ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. HI Ya Chuck, i posted in a hurry. The main reason I am trying this out is that with the match we are allowed to shoot any one gun or two guns for the whole match. I dont have a shotgun that would do any good. And I am not likely to get one any time soon. But thanks for thinking of it.
  22. HI Ya, I am getting ready for my first ever 3 Gun.match. I have 10 years doing Steel Madness, matches. its kinda sorta like IPSC with few rules. i have an AR15, a CZ75B-SA and all the accouterments( you know, holster etc). more than enough .223's and 9mm. what else do i need to know?
