  1. So I have installed this Sight on CZ and after a couple of months it didn’t light up. They replaced with another. This one cracked the glass swiftly. I have the second replacement now.
I have used the included rear sight bridge to mount the RDS. I need to mill to get it lower.
additionally Meprolight uses an proprietary foot print.
to mill or not? Given its performance so far.

  2. so now a few months later...

CAS; sorry but its proprietary, i asked.

the space between my slide and the RDS sight means that i have a bullseye at 21' but two inches low at 70'.

i can use 'Kentucky' windage but am looking for something more.

most especially as we have a loose fellowship of shooters and a free competition on 81/2" x 11" paper targets. mostly at 21' but always one at full indoor range length. and finally a one shot one by everyone.

i was always a steel shooter and sold my Colt Gold Cup years ago. now i need to be a bit more accurate. How to do that without buying more guns, milling , or different sights?

    any ideas?

  3. Angelo, i am going to skip the deep clean for now that i have been reminded that the 'hold open' is only with a mag inserted. although i can't remember the last time i totally disassembled the CZ75 i dont relish doing it right now. i will keep what you said about the bag. i have spare parts collected from just such experiences.

p.s. the range in Henderson free cleans one gun with each paid fee in their sonic cleaner. I may wait for that.

    much obliged,

  4. 11,600 rounds. now safety doesnt hold open without a mag inserted.  And i cant remember last time i did a detail strip. is that it?

    or should i look elsewhere?

usually i note break downs but now that i dont do steel competition any longer i am left with a little indoor practice and a once a month Huntington Beach fun competition. Truth be told i no longer remember how i did the detail strip and tore this gun down.

    much obliged,

yes. and Dovetail does affect the parallax. a lot. i am not sure what i am going to do with it. i could still mill the slide. now that i had the old target and fibre optic sights cut out i need a new solution.

although milling is one, i am not comfortable yet with the Meprolight red dot. I have another on a Ruger 22/45 which works well, some parallax issue. and a Trijicon ACOG on an AR15 no issues.

the debate goes on ...for me at least.

  6. Two good reasons discussed above however there is a third in favor of Meprolight:

the sight can be swapped independent of the mount easily.

Mepro is now developing separate part numbers for mounts.

i want to use same sight on Glock and other guns.

  7. sooo, i just bought a Meprolight; comes with a mount that is also  a self-illuminated backup night sight that provides a clear aiming point in case of power failure with that glows brightly without requiring batteries; night sight when the red dot is removed. ingenious.

also i spoke to Mepro and they are developing part numbers to offer the mounts separately: i will be able to buy that part (if it is priced right) and put the optic on my Glock and other pistols.

  8. Good thread, i am considering a red dot on my CZ75B SA right now.

CZ Custom might be the right choice for me also.

I was hoping to find a inexpensive red dot as I only do a once a month casual shoot at an indoor range; shoot and go eat and talk about it. no prizes. Some retired Boeing employees and me.

  9. HI Ya, trigger not too light, but i have gotten double taps occasionally AD; it never bothered me as the matches were only time based, and of course at least one hit per target.

however light strikes do happen also.

she probably would be better suited with a new factory gun. i have a Beretta 92FS that is stock. difficulty with that gun for a relative novice is dbl/single action, manual safety means larger learning curve.

  10. HI Ya, I am just bragging; now 22,770 rounds thru my XD. I did a lot of steel competition with it; just a fine gun.

now my daughter likes it and i am inclined to give her it.

however the trigger is 3 1/2 lbs; is that too light?

she likely will use it for home defense.

I had the same issue with my TS when I first got it, somehow the pre travel screw started to back out and wouldn’t allow the trigger to reset fully. Just had to screw it back in a little and got it back to normal.

Great, I hope you put some dope on it to make the screw stick; i use nail polish.

Maximum OAL for 45ACP is 1.275". Your crimp measurement is fine. Are the chamber and throat clean? Regarding rounds that don't go into battery 100%, did you chamber-check those afterward?

Additionally, I had always gone with the less crimp the better. However now that I do the ‘plunk’ test I find that more is better. It doesn’t break the surface of the moly or plating.
tomorrow is my next test; I shortened all remaining 200 rounds to 1.275” also.

  13. hi Pert, OAL is stated above. I thought that if they were long my chamber checker would have shown that. And I tried them with two barrels; my Lone Wolf and the factory Glock, same story. Besides its only a few of every batch of 100.

and Yes i have loaded around 6,000 for this Glock over the years. Now i am addressing this mostly because I had all three types and both barrels and lots of time at the outdoor range with a simulated Glock match set up with my friends.

    Any ideas?
