Shooters Connection has good quality recoil springs that are priced right so you can buy 7 8 9 & 10 without breaking your CC !

Actually, via my FFL. This is my first 2011. Needless to say, I'm pumped.
SWEET !!!

BTW - nice gun !!!

Thanks - thought about pressing pin in but was afraid of deforming the hammer ..............

Having a problem installing an Extreme Trigger Kit just received from Shooters Connection.
Purchased an STI strut and new pin with the kit, BUT - I'm having a heck of time installing the pin in the Extreme hammer ?
was able to knock the pin into the hammer and slightly through the strut's hole, BUT no amount of hammering (brass hammer) will move the pin any further into the other side of the hammer ..........
Do these hammers have under size holes, are new strut pins (Shooters Conn brand) oversize, or .... ?
Don't know if I should SLIGHTLY enlarge the hammer pin hole or try another pin - would appreciate any advice !
THANKS

Are the controls you want to polish Stainless?? Is so then yes, you can get to this with them.....
NICE pistol !!!

If a real steel mag weighed as much as a TM Hicapa mag, you would notice a difference.
How about tungsten base pads. ........

Installed the Cheely 90 deg mount this morning and fired 200 rds this afternoon - PERFECT function and ejection.
Only problem was removing stock screws installed by some ?&$@/':" at STI.
He either WAY over torqued the screws or piled on the red loctite - 3 screws barely broke loose and a SnapOn Allen ( socket) broke off in the 4th. 5th was so tite I didn't persist. Ran to local gunsmith who used EZ out to remove the 2 offenders.
YES, I used heat ( heat gun & solder iron ) but screws were seriously over tightened. Had to grind the five 1/2" screws that came w the Cheely but a Dremel solved that handily.
Save for the 2 hours of "drama", all is good and I'm glad I went with the new mount.

EXCELLENT, I just recieved a Cheely 90 deg mount from Shooters Connection and will be installing it tomorrow to test on Tuesday.
Had two more jams at the match today, so I'm hoping my resluts are same as yours !!!

THANK YOU !!!

My "new" Steel Master has approx 1600-1700 rds fired (all factory 9mm). I've cleaned barrel, slide, breech face, extractor hook, frame rails etc several times but have not yet removed the extractor.
It Stovepiped several times in match today - haven't changed anything (ammo, mags or etc).
what is the average / normal rounds fired that require removing and cleaning extractor and its channel in the slide ???
THANKS for help or advice !

Got it !!!
Should have looked just bit longer b4 asking - THANKS

Waiting for a black Cheely 90 deg mount from Shooters Connection, for my Steel Master.
Just realized - how do you make adjustments when sighting in, isn't the R/L (now up &down) adjust screw under the scope, right on top of the slide ???
Maybe I'm missing something ..........

Yesterday I tested std type recoil springs w full length guide rod (STI) compared to the light recoil master that came in the gun & that I've been shooting:
124 gr Freedom Munitions (new)
7 lb (Shooters Conn) - feels almost identical to the light RM
8 lb - feels slower than the 7 lb or the light RM, lazy ejection
9 lb - experienced 50% Stovepipes
Result for me - back to the stock light recoil master.
-
Congrats on your new SM !
Now have 1000 rds through mine - a list of brands of factory ammo:
Heavily lubed from STI, just wiped down and checked bore -
300 American Eagle 124gr (2 stovepipes in very first mag (140mm stock STI)
200 PMC 115 gr
Cleaned & lubed w/ Slide Glide Lite
200 Freedom Arms 124gr reman (3 stovepipes)
200 Blazer (CCI brass) 115 gr
100 Freedom Arms 124gr new
So far it's exactly what I wanted and expected. Using stock STI mags so far, waiting for 140 & 170 tubes and TTI base pads, springs and followers.
-
My advice if you are new to the 2011 is just assemble the mags you want and chances are they will run great (do your research on modifying followers to prevent premature lockback if you use grams) if you want hi-speed super tuned ( for reliability and max capacity) mags just buy from a respected shop.
Good luck amigo
EXCELLENT advice !!!

Have TTIs on half doz AR Pmags and STI 9mm 140 & 170 mags. Also used them on M&P and G17 mags. All functioned perfectly and look great !!!

You may get conflicting answers to some of the above.
Personally I've always found a dot easier to acquire, makes shooting with both eyes open EZ and natural, which will automatically give you a wider field of view to see the next target, array etc
At random - there is no focus except the target, the learning curve is up to you, I had no "block" and found nothing to overcome.
If you decide to go with a red dot, think positive instead of some of what you posted above.

This could be good news, please post again if you're successful in ordering another lifter.
THANKS !

Yes, after sighting in, my DP dot was sitting just above the CORE's front sight. So you should be close.

Almost forgot - also brought along my S&W CORE, comparing it to the Steelmaster:
The CORE does have more muzzle rise, not drastic but noticeable. The Steelmaster "thumps" like other compguns while the CORE "cracks" like a std 9mm.
Bottom line - the STI def doubles taps Faster, the dot jumps up less and settles back quicker.
The CORE is a great pistol, light, fast etc, but not a match for a comped STI.
5inch front sight height for 9mm?

Dawson's web site has a good calculator to determine sight height ............
