Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. When I was using TG, 180 gr FMJ at 1.2 oal with 4.6 to 4.7 of titegroup ran about 950 fps from a 5" P16 Para. Good luck with your loading. Ian Wicke
  2. Start times vary by available sun light in the Heartland. From December to February 8 AM, the rest of the year 9 AM. We some times had to refund entry fees for second shoots and multiple divisions due to fading light. after 4 PM during the Midwest winters. Ian
  3. Living in the heartland means rain in all its possible forms and dealing with pasters that won't stick. There's nothing like a good Alberta clipper with a March thaw to make it rip roaring, soggy challange. The rain caps over the targets are worth a try. I've found that pre-treating paper targets with spray adhesive to avoid using bags tends to obliterate the scoring zone borders. Does this happen with Scotch Guard and does work well at freezing temperatures ? Ian

    Easter

Three blondes (natural) died and found themselves standing before St. Peter. He told them that before they could enter the Kingdom, they had to tell him what Easter was. The first blonde said, "Easter is a holiday where they have a big feast and we give thanks and eat turkey." St. Peter said, "Noooooo," and he banished her to hell. The second blonde said, "Easter is when we celebrate Jesus' birth and exchange gifts." St. Peter said, "Noooooo," and he banished her to hell. The third blonde said, she knew what Easter is, and St. Peter said, "So, tell me." She said, "Easter is a Christian holiday that coincides with the Jewish festival of Passover. Jesus was having a Passover feast with His disciples when he was betrayed by Judas, and the Romans arrested him. The Romans hung Him on the cross and eventually He died. Then they buried Him in a tomb behind a very large boulder ... St. Peter said, "Verrrrrry good." Then the blonde continued, "Now every year the Jews roll away the boulder and Jesus comes out. If he sees his shadow, we have six more weeks of basketball." St. Peter fainted.
  5. DP, I can't help but think that holding back would have a negative affect at the subconscious level. I think keeping that internal playing field clean and unobstructed is the only way to play this game. Even if you hadn't of confided with your wise friend you would not have followed your misguided vainity. You've been down the path of personal gowth and development that the higher classifications require just to get there, let alone excel. The most amazing thing about meeting Jerry Barnhart this past June was his unrelenting drive. It's contagious and you caught it. Ian Wicke
  6. Local matches twice a month and at least two majors a year. I am starting to look into combining majors with family trips to increase the number. You know sweet talk will only get you so far and they miss me soooo much when I'm gone. Ian Wicke
  7. I also suffer from old, nearsighted eyes, amongst other things I won't mention, and having tried soft contact lenses, and bifocal glasses made the plunge to Decot shooting glasses. The dominate eye lens is 50% of my bifocal strength and the other lens is my perscription distance. It does take some getting use to, as the other posters mentioned, but you will SEE the front sight, rear sight, and target. They're worth a look. Good luck with your search and good shooting. Ian
  8. Shot this one for the first time today, Limited B. Good fast COF, like an inverted "Bang & Clang". Drew to the right paper so I could reload and work the poppers left to right. 49 points, 7.26 seconds. Made up one mike on the 3rd popper. Not enough awareness to call the mike (damn it) but enough presence of mind not to interrupt my cadence and finish the last popper before returning for the make up. The RO noted that I turned up the pace after the the mike -- it wasn't deliberate, I "knew" but I didn't heed. It would be interesting to see what happens If I ever quit being my own worst enemy -- well maybe I am beginning to reconize it while its happening. Brass Rat
