  1. Found what I was looking for.. Give this a read... If you know Gary.. You know... Staff Reset: A Better System for Everyone By Gary Byerly Pasters! How many times have we all heard or yelled that? Imagine you are competing at a major match and the stage needs to be reset. But you are about to shoot and are trying to focus on visualization. Or perhaps you just shot and have magazines to clean and reload. Regardless of the situation, you are expected to interrupt your process and get to work. This is not conducive to putting forth your best shooting performance. Conversely, imagine that you are a working a major match. You urge competitors to reset the stage and watch as they disorderly traverse the range, pasting targets and painting steel with little gusto. As the next competitor shoots, you have a range equipment malfunction due to an activator that was improperly reset. Or perchance a target did not get pasted which prevents you from being able to issue a score. In either case a reshoot is now necessary. This is not favorable to running your stage efficiently. There is a better system that speeds up the match, improves competitive equity, eliminates inconsistency, and decreases effort for everyone. That system is staff reset. If you have ever visited a Chick-Fil-A, you have witnessed a motivated and coordinated workforce. Tasks are assigned to employees and carried out repetitively with precision. Now imagine if those employees changed jobs every three minutes. Chaos ensues and your chicken sandwich is in jeopardy. Match staff can be assigned specific tasks for their stage and develop an effective rhythm as they carry out those tasks cyclically. The result is a consistent reset that is significantly faster from buzzer to buzzer. Additionally, the staff can proactively address potential problems which will nearly eliminate the need for reshoots. When competitors reset however, they are not assigned a specific task. Rather, they head down range with no clear plan and fumble through the stage looking for targets to paste. As the squad progresses, the people down range are constantly in flux. For example, the competitor that painted the poppers last time is now on deck. This time around another shooter will need to recognize and pick up that responsibility. This uncoordinated effort results in wasted time and a high probability of an improperly set stage. I recently served as a CRO at the 2020 Carolina Classic where reset was handled entirely by staff. I was placed in charge of a 32 round long course with four additional staff. Two of the staff were certified RO’s. My stage crew and I identified reset requirements and evenly distributed assignments. I personally ran every shooter Saturday and Sunday. I followed this procedure: Verify the stage is clear and issue range commands. Follow the shooter through the stage. Clear the range and relay time to score keeper. Reset and paint four pepper poppers. Return to start position. Repeat. What I did not do is score any targets or verify that they had been pasted. There was no need because my crew was doing that. With the aid of paster guns, they had 14 targets scored and pasted in the time it took me to reset four poppers. I would like to add that we rain bagged targets three times on Saturday with negligible loss in performance. Overall, our stage ran on schedule and had no issues or reshoots during the match. Efficient division of labor made this possible As a competitor, I would rather shoot a match with staff reset so I can focus on shooting. As a RO, I would rather work a match with staff reset so I can provide a quality match experience for competitors with less effort and time spent.
  2. Thanks Robtor305 for posting feedback.. And thanks for being a repeat customer. Please keep in mind that these 4.0 grips are 5 axis fully machined and to have a perfect finish would be cost prohibitive. The grip design is performance based and is perfect for the competitive market. I was going to reply to your email previously sent directly to SSI, but posting here works just fine. I am glad to refund your purchase. Please send me the grips and after inspection we will immediately credit you back. Thanks for supporting a small business. SSI
  3. There are many Tanfo Nitro Fins running in CZ pistols with that tab completely removed. They have had no issues. Hope this helps.
  4. The fit work resides at the raised tab that fits under the slide. The slide designs changed on new models and with a little mock up, you will see what side of the tab you need to remove/thin.
  5. Hi gang.. did a little searching and found this thread. I have to say.. making a grip that fits all year models of the CZ has been very tough... I also feel that doing a little fit work ensures you have a set of grips that will never rock or rotate on you during a match. I do hear your concerns and honestly am very hesitant to moving that hole inward as a running change. With the current amount of grips sold.. I have only had this complaint with about 5% of sales and have personally witnessed the inconsistency of the frames. I'm not trying to avoid the current situation, just sharing that we have moved the location 0.010 to make it tighter on loose guns. That move doesn't help your current situation...just made it worse on later batches of grips. See, it's a tough call. On a side note... we have contracted a US company to make NICE fasteners. Should have them available in 3 weeks.
  6. Got the Mark 7 last night.. the packaging alone is super high end. Very cut and dry install, had strokes in no time. Seeing one first hand now is really impressive. Now I can load more in a more consistent fashion and keep my ammo hungry father at bay. Doing the whole 223 processing setup now. Having the dwell adjustment with the trimmer is so very important. I'll report back after a caliber exchange and extinguishing all my reloading components... I do see my projectile stock vanishing soon.
  7. Nealio nailed it perfectly
  8. the production vs the first prototypes have even more grip. The response to these grips has been unbelievable. They go on sale Saturday. LOTS more will be made but will take a little time to make. Thanks NY32182 for sharing. I can't wait to read all your comments on the performance of the package.. Good or Bad.. all is welcome.
  9. Lim Pro in .40 I had lots of weird issues as mentioned above. The gun was a "GM package" and came with a 7# recoil spring... would never take a round from slide lock... went to a 9#... hit or miss after 300 rounds... now I run a 12# and haven't had a single issue. Brass lands 8-10 feet away.. Load is a snappy 165 gn .40 with Titegroup. Makes 135pf. Just thought I would add, cause all the fluffing and buffing in the world couldn't fix it.. ramp, extractor, etc.etc. etc. It was the spring the whole time. And just to add another point.. when you boys tear your gun apart... take the slide with the guide rod and spring, see if the guide rod nail head stops at the slide. Some springs are so long that it shortens the stroke.. reliability goes down the drain.
  10. I've been in contact with the problem and talked to ny32182 about it. My Lim Pro .40 hangs up at slide lock. I shoot is once a month at an IDPA indoor and going to slide lock is pretty much a must. So fresh mag in.. push the lock down.. hands at the extractor. I've done ramp work, etc.. not to the extractor.. looks stock to me... I do see a need for improvement. And to think.. if this fixes it, I paid someone a lot of money to pimp this gun. That is for another day. Just letting you guys know another DIY smith here.. systematically figuring this out.
  11. When I was drilling the detent in the Nitro Fins.. only going 0.010 deep was more than adequate. If you noticed, I've obsoleted that feature due to many different chassis having that location in different locations. I have yet to get any negative feedback on leaving it out.. Being the pad is further back and below the pin, drilling the detent is just insurance for anyone with super long thumbs. Just sharing.. have a good day
  12. AHHHHH YESS.. that is the nice answer I was looking for. I am just that guy who enjoys doing jobs himself. Thanks Kneelingatlas and all for the info.. I now we we got a XTreme DA trigger topic started.. I'll start watching it.. still not sold on a good replacement legal DA trigger..
  13. Most people do there own work.... meaning... you buy the nice parts and can easily do minor fitting. I know a few locals that just send it to a smith. Curious your opinion.
  14. Yep.. guess that will be the one I go with. Guess if it's an option or update to a certain model it's considered ok.
  15. yeah that is the one I speak of.. and have to heard of a new DA trigger on the horizon for a production model. Would it throw you out of a USPSA match.. that is the question. BTW.. glad I came here to ask.
  16. Yep.. did some digging.. going to give up on the SA production dream. I guess the Xtreme X002 will be my only visible OEM part change. Anybody run on in the Tanfo and hate it?
  17. Just got a LIM Pro.. going to use it in USPSA Production next year. Can you explain the part swapping game? The game being, keeping it legal in USPSA Production. I would love to get this DA Circle trigger out. Converting it to SA using the flatter trigger and starting a stage with the wide safety flipped up would be a perfect world for me. It would make the transition from my LIMITED 2011 seamless. Just don't know if you can LEGALLY change it to SA. Any wisdom on this?
  18. You can imagine how much tail chasing fun I could have if I matched all those different sized frames. Thank god that location is the only area that has changed throughout the years. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.
  19. No problem... have fun with the little jewel.
  20. That is a thumb safety shield installed by Shay of Akai Custom Guns. It is mounted to the frame, separate of the safety.
  21. Website is populated.. Not advertising.. just information :-)
  22. Hey Shooters.. just got some exciting news from the best shooting glasses around. It's Christmas time… Use discount code: PISTOL for 40% off… awesome!!!!!
  23. Production is moving along nicely… Getting 25% of the production run done first and hopefully be available the end of this week. Adding a non plunger detent version for older frames who might have a slight misalignment with the factory plunger location. Have ran into this issue once, but want to cover all my bases. Thanks again guys for all the kind words of encouragement and creative criticism. It will only make it a better part.
  24. Hello everyone… It's nice to see people enjoy the Nitro Fin. Just found this topic and wanted to give some info on the restock. I am scheduled to run another batch of parts next week and hope to have them up on the site ASAP. The machine has been tied up or I would have had them earlier. I am a one man show but ready to handle anyone's single order. I got a pretty smooth shipping procedure (on the way to work) that will get them out fast. And yes if you call Shay he will put one on your custom build. Thanks for your patients and I'll post here as soon as parts are populated on www.shootingsportsinnovations.com And a picture of the black prototype material Nitro Fin http://i732.photobucket.com/albums/ww328/cudamannlc/578118_388922757907291_1101042686_n.jpg
