  1. I use the safariland because... well... I got a gift card to Amazon.com and Amazon doesn't sell CR or Double Alpha belts... but that being said, I like the way it fits, it's very stiff and to be honest with you I like the black leather basket-weave look.... I plan on ordering safariland basket-weave competition mag holders to compliment the belt.
  2. I use the CR Speed in Limited because the kind gentleman that sold me my Glock 35 included it in the sale, couldn't be happier. I voted null on the production due to the fact that I don't shoot production.
  3. Dangucci or anyone else that might know, I'm Looking at buying a Bianchi inner and outer belt (I received a gift card on Amazon and CR Speed and Double Alpha products aren't available there). I was wondering what width and thickness of belt the CR Speed Versa Mag Pouches will accept. Thank you.
  4. I LOVED Abbott and Costello... I was born in 82. I had a stack of cassette tapes and CD's... has anyone heard Andy Griffith's (sp?) take on football? My Papa has the vinyl still and we listen to it often.
  5. This is a great topic and I've been looking for this information for a while. I think I naturally started with the random/variable practice due to my musical background. I was a concert brass player in HS and College and I noticed that the guys that could play one song EXTREMELY well couldn't play any other song well at all. Guys that could run their scales faster than anyone else fumbled notes in songs. So, I started each practice by choosing a random piece of music (one that I had never seen or heard before) and playing through it at the beginning of my practice session (aka sight reading, at the direction of my instructor). I never went back and practiced any part of it, never stopped in the middle of the song, never rehearsed anything. In the beginning I butchered most parts pretty bad. By the end I could look at nearly any piece of music I put my hands on and just play. I was rewarded by my accomplishments at the local, state, and national levels, and have had the opportunity to play across the entire country. Therefore, I can confirm the results of random/variable and will be even more diligent about applying it to my shooting ability. This type of practice will wear on one's patience and frustrate them to no end. However, the results (which is what we're after in the first place) will undoubtedly be monumental compared to Blocked/Concentrated practice. Thank you very much for this post! Steve
  6. Do the after-market ported Lone Wolf barrels (the ones that extend past the slide and are ported both before and after the end of the slide) accomplish the same thing as other open compensators? What are the pro's and con's to these barrels. I have a limited Glock 35 that I just purchased from a fellow BE member and am thrilled with it: grip stippled and trimmed with beavertail, stormlake barrel, FO front sight (not sure on make), Glock adj. rear sight, magwell (not sure on make of that either). Also, how light is too light on the trigger? Are the aftermarket triggers such as the Vaneck as reliable as the OEMs? (I know this is a very subjective topic, I'm just curious about other peoples' opinions). Thank you in advance for your input. Steve PS I'm relatively new to the sport and have been shooting a S&W Sigma 9mm until lately and have not gotten the chance to shoot the Glock 35 Limited gun yet.
  7. The position illustrated is "at-rest" or "at-ease". Parade rest is a much more structured form of attention rather than simply relaxed with hands behind back.
  8. As a relatively new USPSA shooter, this is REALLY helpful. I shoot a Glock, so I always index on the slide take-down levers when moving or loading/making ready. However, sitting here away from the range and away from my blaster (I'm at work) I can't recall the position of my index finger during reload or clearing a jam. Maybe it's so instinctual from hunting and shooting clays for years it naturally happens. I will be watching myself very carefully my next match. Also, as a new shooter, I welcome the DQ if deserved. I agree with the posters that say that a DQ would teach the lesson faster than any warning. However, I also appreciate the warning and guidance by much more experienced shooters if I appear to approach the line on safety. I'd much rather go home early from a match than not go home at all.

    11-87

Sounds like 11-87 is the way to go. I'm definitely not comfortable drilling into a barrel myself and I don't want the hassle of finding a gunsmith I trust, nor the price tag that comes with using a gunsmith. Thank you GISMap for the clarification!
  10. I can cycle my Remington 870 faster than an auto-loader (go ahead... call BULL$#!%). I didn't realize how fast I could jack the pump until I went to the skeet range and one of the guys let me use his auto loader... felt like I was waiting for it to cycle. I don't think I'd ever NOT have a Remington 870 (I have 2 right now). I may pick up an auto-loader for $#!%$ and giggles, but when I NEED a gun to run, nothing like an 870... just don't put those cheap-$#!% Federal rounds through it and keep it well maintained and oiled (just like any other gun).
  11. This is more or less off the cuff but I would consider the shot in a shotgun shell to be more along the lines of ducks or NASCAR stock cars. The more you have the less wind resistance each has to fight. They more or less draft off one another to make it to the target. People are talking about momentum coming into play and as I recall ALL objects fall to the earth at the same rate.... which means it's more of an aerodynamics question than it is about momentum. In a vacuum both #9 and 00 buck would pattern equally as well. These are COMPLETELY un-researched thoughts, though I do have an alright grasp on physics.
  12. http://www.filmdipping.com/index.php/patterns-available/ This guy seems like he knows what he's doing, I intend to send him my skeet gun and have it camouflaged (just to piss off the guys that spent WAY too much money on their high grade wood stocks.)

    Fundamentals

Yes, this is an EIGHT year old post, but I found it to be exactly what I've been scouring the rest of the World Wide Web for. SO, I thought I'd bring it to the forefront in case anyone is having a similar dilemma.

    11-87

I have a question, since some of you seem to be in the know, I was wondering if you could pass that knowledge to me. I saw a Remington 1100 (3" chamber)for sale on gun broker and asked this of the seller: I wrote: "Your description for this item says the shotgun only shoots 3" shells. It was my understanding that an 1100 chambered for 3" could shoot all shells 3" or less. I was wondering if you could clarify that for me. Thank you." He wrote: "No, the mag 1100 only shoots 3" shells. It might shoot the 2 3/4 heavy loads but not guaranteed. The 1187 shoots both." Then a different person from the same email address wrote: "It may or may not cycle the 2.75" shells. Regards, ****" Can someone please clear me up on the capabilities of both the 1100 and the 1187. I'm a huge Remington Fan, while I don't have the kind of money to put on a Remington Premier STS O/U competition shotgun for skeet, I was thinking that either the 1100 or the 1187 would be a good compromise for now. I currently shoot a Remington 870 Express (I have no trouble hitting the doubles, it's the crossing shots from stations 3,4, and 5 that give me the most trouble) so it's not the pump, it's me. Also, while we're on the topic, could someone link me to some references that show the 870 winning skeet competitions. I may just stick with it and show up all the O/U and Auto guys
  15. Final Update: Both transactions have now been completed (a few days ago) and I have BOTH firearms in my possession. The Glock 35 that I bought on the BE classifieds came a little later than expected through no fault of the seller. Unfortunately the seller's dealer set the gun on the shelf for a few days before mailing it. The seller sent me an ADDITIONAL hi-cap mag with rodendo (spelling?) +4 base pad and a couple hundred .40 brass as compensation for the delay. This was completely unexpected and unprompted, but GREATLY appreciated. As a new member to the Brian Enos Forum Community I am very pleased so far with the quality of people, in general, on this forum. I am ecstatic with both of my purchases and will get great use out of both of them. I couldn't be happier with how both transactions were handled. Now it's time to start looking for a kick-@$$ skeet gun without breaking the bank. Thank you all for your help and advice!
  16. I hope that you got a good grade on the paper, very eloquently written. I myself am just starting out in the world of competitive shooting and am trying to soak up as much info as humanly possible. I have had the recent epiphany that I don't know $#!% about shooting and am trying to learn very quickly. I have always "aimed" due to the fact that I've only ever really (until recently) shot at a stand still indoor range, one shot at a time. So my shot process went something like, focus on target, rear sight, front sight, target, start to squeeze the trigger, focus again target, rear sight, front sight, keep squeezing, focus again target, rear sight, front sight, target.... BANG. And I also recently discovered that I flinch (to include blinking) like a little girl (with pigtails and a lollipop)... no offense intended to the female contingent of competitive shooters. So needless to say I have a LOOOOONNNNNGGGGG way to go and a lot of reading and practicing to do. Thank you very much for your contribution, I'm sure it will be very useful especially to other beginning shooters like myself.
  17. UPDATE: Thank you all for sharing your experiences and advice on buying items from gunbroker. I have completely finished my first transaction with gunbroker and I couldn't be happier. The gun (Glock 27) was in BETTER condition than I thought it would be. It came with the advertised 3 magazines (2 of which had Scherrer 1 shot extensions), manual, bore brush, the 2 original base-pads. I ran 100 rounds through it flawlessly at the range, 10 of which were the Remington Gold Sabre self-defense rounds I plan on carrying in the gun. The seller even called me to make sure I was satisfied with the gun AFTER I received it. I would definitely have to say I had a well above average experience and won't hesitate buying from gunbroker in the future. The experiences and advice posted here will definitely help others in the future (including myself) to know the ins-and-outs of a gunbroker transaction. Thank you, Steve
  18. Thanks for everything, and making the buying of my first IPSC/USPSA Limited gun a truly effortless, worry-free process

  19. WOW... I'm obviously not the most observant one, I skimmed right over that, I thought they were talking about farther north in Wa. Thank you. So it is possible to hold both permits? Moving to Vancouver cause wife has family in Portland (and Portland is still too expensive).
  20. I'm currently living in Alabama and shoot with the Mobile Pistol Shooters Association and will soon be a member. HOWEVER, I will be moving to Vancouver, Wa.... eventually (maybe middle of next year). I'm just kind of throwing a flag out there and seeing if I can make some EXTREMELY early contacts, also I have a few questions about the carry laws there, and I'm way to tired to do any legal reading right now. I was hoping someone could give me the cliff notes. Thanks, KP
  21. Newbie: Are CR Speed mag holders good for Glocks as well?
  22. Update: Apparently I jumped the gun, but I have definitely learned a LOT in the last week. I may have failed to mention that this is my FIRST time buying a gun on-line, and I bought two. I bought one off of Gunbroker and I bought one from the classifieds here. The one I referred to in my first post was the Gunbroker transaction, hence the title. WELL, it turns out that the poor guy works a swing shift, or rolling shift rather. So, he was unable to receive the MO because he was working 12 hour days and was at work the whole time the post office was open. I received a call from him this evening, he was apologetic, as was I (for being so anxious). I made the mistake of having it "signed on delivery" which means the post office cannot leave the MO at his residence without him being present. The good news is: he has Monday off and will be receiving payment and shipping the firearm on Monday. I have learned already not to express-mail a MO "sign on delivery", priority will do for most transactions. Be patient (not one of my strong points). Communicate with the seller before the auction is complete or even before the bid is made (thank you Pigdawg). The seller did have an A+ rating, not sure how many sales (where I work the Gunbroker page and other 'weapons pages' are blocked shhhhhhhh). Long story short I was worried over nothing. By the way, the Brainenos classified sale has gone EXTREMELY smoothly, and my biggest mistake might have been expecting the same out of the Gunbroker deal. Thank you for all of your input and advice.
  23. I found a 6 year old thread in the "I Hate" category (by doing the good little newbie thing and running a search) it was on the topic of Gunbroker. I didn't want to post this in the "I Hate" section, as I understand that is more for letting out aggression etc. SO: Are people still having problems with Gunbroker.com? I won an auction on the 14th of February 2010 and this thread has me a little nervous. I had heard great things from guys that I shoot with about gunbroker so I figured I'd give it a shot (pun intended). What's weird, is that I had good contact with the seller: email & phone. However, The Postal Money Order arrived at his house on Thursday the 18th and tracking indicates: notice was left at residence and MO is still available at the local post office. I haven't been able to reach him on the phone or by email over the past 4 days. Am I being too impatient? It is not a gun store selling the firearm, and he's not an FFL. I guess my question is how long is long enough? I'm aware that he has 10 days to comply, life happens, maybe he went on vacation, maybe something unfortunate happened, but I just don't want this to drag on for over two years (like the guy in the "I Hate" thread. I think 2 weeks and I'll start raising the alarm, sooner if he cashes the MO. What do you think? [Edited for spelling and clarity]
  24. I had the chance to watch Tawn Argeris shoot once about 10 years ago (he was practicing at Ben Avery I believe). I saw him shoot the "A" in the headshot area of a USPSA target in less than 0.5 seconds from the holster... I wanted a race gun and I wanted a race gun bad. Now, 10 years later, I just purchased my first limited pistol (I'm well on my way). IDPA never even showed up on the radar for me.
  25. What about WWB making major in .40 S&W? Any troubles there?
