  1. Thanks, that sounds like you were running the same load he was with the 147. Interesting to see that Sevigny felt the need to go to a match fitted KKM for the Bianchi, and counters the mantra of many Glock users who say the OEM barrels are plenty accurate. I've struggled to get better than a 3.5 inch groups off hand with my G17 at 25yds, where as out of my 1911s or wheelguns I can shoot half that or tighter. From what I've seen gunsmith fitted Glock barrels deliver, and can be tuned to function reliably. It looks like Barsto however is the only barrel maker making gunsmith fit barrels for the Glock; KKM only offer drop-in's now apparently. None of the makers apart from SilencerCo, with their threaded barrels, offer 1-10 twist barrels for the Glock, obviously for the 147 and subsonic stability. Interestingly, KKM, Barsto and others only offer 1-16 in their threaded drop-in offerings so you have to wonder how good they are shooting 147s.
  2. Thanks, I'll see what I can do with the OEM barrel. Just curious, didn't Dave Sevigny eventually swap to a KKM gunsmith fitted barrel towards the end of his involvement with Glock?
  3. Thanks, it's just interesting to see that SilencerCo offer threaded Glock barrels in 1-10 twist. The 147 grain load I'm using runs at about 920 fps.
  4. I've heard conflicting reports about what the best twist rate is for stabilizing a 147 grain bullet. Does anyone know? Most of the aftermarket barrel makers offer match barrels in 1-16 twist, which seem ideal for 115-124 grain bullets, but not for the 147. I'm looking to run 147 grain bullets through my G17, as I find this weight provides the most manageable recoil. Thanks
  5. Vermont. Thank you, I contacted SJC and they confirmed they can do the work.
  6. I'm looking to have a match fit Barsto barrel installed in a G17. The install lead-time from Barsto is long and is even longer from Cylinder & Slide. I don't trust myself doing this job myself, so was wondering if anyone on the forum could recommend a competent Glocksmith? Many thanks
  7. Picked one of these up the other week. All is well except it won't fit my real G17 holster; the KCS is too large. Not sure what anyone else is using for the KSC clone. Many thanks.
  8. I`ve tried 1.120 OAL but 1.150 delivers the best accuracy out of my G17.
  9. Thanks, that's interesting I'm running 1.150 at the moment and will try 1.130.
  10. I need my comp bored on a lathe. I have been fighting sideways hole in targets for months. I can not see where they are hitting in the comp,so I removed the comp today and went to the range. 60 rounds in the paper all straight. Where can I send my barrel and comp for some help! 11. I think I have seated bullets out as far a 1.155 and I'm still not touching the lands. I personally don't think one's going to see a massive accuracy difference with changes to bullet seating depth at the distances handgunners typically shoot at, especially with a Glock. But I could be wrong.
  12. 4.5 grains of Titegroup behind 115gr Montana Gold CMJ. Check my load against the loading data before you load. I would take a look at your overall length. I did some testing with OAL from max to about 20 and the shorter rounds were more accurate in my glocks. I was getting 5 inch groups with winchester white box. 124 grain mg, 5.5 grains of power pistol at 1.120(iirc) and we are under 2 inches. Even winchester white box bullets 115gr, 4.0-4.5 tg, and 1.135 oal I was in the 2.75 inch group range. My top end is stock, the only change I made to the upper is the recoil spring and guide rod. If you take some time and dial in the load with testing glocks are surprisingly accurate out of the box. I was running loads from 1.125 to 1.155 and with a combination of different bullets weights to see if this would improve accuracy. I've never known a handgun to be so particular about its loads especially offhand. I've settled on 1.150 using 115gr MGs, but the change in accuracy came when I got the gun back from JP. The Glock is designed to run on any diet of ammunition though.
  13. I guess something like that - I asked but they didn't elaborate. Accuracy wise it's like night and day compared to what it was shooting like straight out of the box. Being a new Glocker I must admit I was really disappointed when I first got the gun. Now it shoots acceptably well.

  15. Here's a 25 shot group I shot the other day with the 17 at 25 yards unsupported offhand, which is substantially improved from the out of the box accuracy I was getting. The horizontal spread will tighten when I install a finer front sight blade. Prior to the slide to frame fit and trigger work done by JP Enterprises, the group would span out to the edge of the white 9 ring which has a diameter of 8 inches. The black 10 ring measures 5 inches across and the inner x ring measures 3.5 inches. Everything is stock on the gun apart from the Ghost Rocket connector. For comparison the next target is shot with my 4 inch 625 at the same distance unsupported offhand and is a 12 shot group.
  16. Just realized I've been giving credit to JP Precision for work that was done to my G17. The credit should go to JP Enterprises, the maker of fine ARs and AR parts. For some reason when I went into change the original post's headline it wouldn't let me edit the title. Apologies for re posting with the corrected title. Original post: I just got my G17 back from JP Precision who offer a slide to frame fit and trigger job service for Glocks. I'm new to Glocking and was very underwhelmed by the accuracy of my G17 when I first got it. Initially I was struggling to get 6-8 inch groups at 25 yards offhand, which compared to what I can do with my 1911s and 2011s was like a shotgun. I did a 25 cent trigger job and dropped in a Ghost Rocket connector which improved the trigger pull dramatically but not the accuracy. I sent the gun off to JP who turned it around in about a week. The cost of the work was $90. I tested the gun out this weekend and accuracy has improved by about 2/3rds, the gun is happily shooting 2.5 to 3.5 inch groups at 25 yards offhand. I now have confidence in the gun. Well done JP!
  17. My mistake JP Enterprises. I can't seem to go back and edit the headline of my post.
  18. The first stage is smoother, but the second stage is about what it was before. The accuracy though is a marked improvement.

  20. Sounds to me like it's the comp. It's probably slightly off concentric. Hopefully the dude you sent it to will get you fixed up. I hope so, he fitted the new barrel.
  21. Interesting I'm using Montana Gold bullets that all mic at 0.355. I have had the barrel swapped out and the same thing is happening. Interesting that I would have the same issue with two different makes of barrel.
