  1. You can make your own with the cardboard from a primer box and some tape. Keep the underside of the primer catcher clean and the ram area where they touch. It helps too.
  2. I use clean shot and I do the tape fix. If worked, so my other powder drops/bars got the tape fix too.
  3. what i do is turn it on and run it until the powder compress down. you can see the powder moving down. it does not take long. i run it while i am filling the primer pickup tube then i turn it off. i will turn it on again later to repack the powder. but it is hard to tell if it needs it or not. but i do it. i have a after market powder cap weight system that has a weighted powder follower. this system worked well and now even better with the vibrator. when i first tried the vibrator i kept it on the whole time, but found that it was not needed. so now at the first and around half way or a little more for a second time. my egg vibrator is not loud.
  4. i got the egg vibrator off ebay. around 9 dollars. the one they sent was pink. yes you know what they are used for. but it also works for what i need it to do on the dillon hopper.
  5. i got three hoppers from the early 80's. only one has turned a little yellow. had one pop off because the older ones did not have screws holding them in. super glue fix that problem. what i use is a egg vibrator and two rubber bands. fill hopper with powder, turn on vibrator and watch the powder drop down.
  6. i use 4895 and/or wc846. military pull down bullets at this time.
  7. i still use a 550 from 1985. everything today will work on it. the only thing i had to do is add the new fall safe system for the new powder drops. my old powder drops still work just as good as the new ones.
  8. take apart and clean. then check the mounting screws that hold the primer system to the press. if the mounting screws are bad the primer system will not work.
  9. i use magnum primers when i can not find standard primers. i have found in the 40 s&w they run about 35 fps more when i run the loads across my chronograph.
  10. sometimes after a while you need to clean the primer system. take the primer system apart and give it a good cleaning. then reset the primer system up as per the manual. i have found my primer problems are from a dirty primer system.
  11. yes they are hard to pass up when you find a good used one. well that is what i tell my wife when i bring another one home.
  12. i have sold several items on the list. sold a motorcycle once, got lots of low ball offers. i did not respond to them. lots of crappy people on it, you just got to weed them out.
  13. i been using 230gr rn. pickup some 200gr tc last week. only time will tell for me which one i like the best.
  14. bolt your bench to the wall. this will help.
  15. yes the post office has gotten to be a pain in the butt when it comes to the heavey flat rate boxes. so have the flat rate boxes send to my office. it is the only way that i can get what i order.
  16. i would get a manual and load data from the powder companies off the net. i would look for older reloading books, they have some of the best data. get a base line then you can work from there.
  17. i just did a deal on gun broker with no problems. but each person will have his own issues with their deals. some deals work fast others don't. people have problems, things get dropped, etc.... then you can get sometimes the person that is there to steal your money. do a net search on the person, you might get a phone number to call.
  18. go to powder valley. i just got a large order from them, took 8 days. i use standard and mag primers in my 40 loads.
  19. yes, i got some myself. had them for many mango seasons. uncle sugar give me one in the eary 70's with all the lc 64 ammo i could shoot. that started it for me.
  20. amry ammo can for primers and powder. works well and keeps for years. as for primers, use what you can get, it does not change much or anything.
  21. i guest it has happen to all of us during our time reloading on a 550. i did one last week during a 1k round of 9mm.
  22. don't feel bad, i get the same with aa#5. sometime i can go 800 rounds before it does. next time 50 rounds. just don't never know.
  23. back in the suumer of 86 i got into one. took the rest of the year off from shooting. got back in the game in 87. then several years later (mid 90's) it came back. so i took off for over a year. so far it is a go. but i am taking it slower, not doing many matches these day. just staying in the game and a lots of practice time with the grand kids.
