  1. Our Chief just wants the Team not to bring a bad name to the Department, so I think his thoughts are along the lines of conducting yourself in a professional, respectful manner, etc......
  2. I have been participating in practical shooting for several years, and have been able to recruit a few members of my Police Department into the sport. We have gotten approval to develop a Department Shooting Team, and I am looking for a little advise if there are any brother Law Enforcement Officers out there that have formed teams. Our Chief has requested some sort of a Code of Conduct agreement for team members, so if anyone else has something similar, examples would be helpful. Thanks.
  3. Any magazine capacity limits? Also, are suppressors allowed? I should have some apps coming.
  4. I have been seeing some information about a Rock Island Arsenal 2011 double stack, but the website for RIA isn't up. Has anyone seen one yet, and if so, how does it look? Any good for an entry level 2011 limited project?
  5. For you guys that have put KKM barrels in your pro 9's, did you need to adjust your sights or did poa / poi stay the same as your stock barrels.
  6. Go on Youtube and look at the video of Daniel Horner and Robbie Johnson giving tips on a Shooting USA episode. Horner's rifle at the time mounted a Luepold variable with both scope rings behind the adjustment turrets. I would be willing to guess he fired LOTS of rounds in this setup. You could probably mount it up with two rings instead of buying the PEPR.
  7. My all time favorite story was from a large outdoor sporting goods store in the area. An inexperienced customer was at the counter looking at an SA/DA pistol with a safety/decocker. While fiddling with the gun with a cocked hammer, the customer engaged the safety/decocker and the hammer fell. The customer was shocked when the hammer fell, and asked the clerk at the gun counter "if this gun was loaded, would putting the safety on make the gun go off?" The clerk at the counter told the customer that he wasn't sure and did not know, and told the customer he would get an employee that "knew alot about handguns". The clerk comes back with another employee, and the customer posed the same question, if engaging the safety/decocker would make the loaded gun go off since the hammer fell. The so called handgun expert looked at the customer, and said "thats why I don't like this brand of gun"!!!!
  8. I used a Leupold shotgun scope on a rifle and the parallax setting of 75 yds was never an issue. The hard to turn power adjustment was, however. Good scope and very clear, all things considered it worked well.
  9. Anyone seen complete uppers for sale anywhere, and if so, how much. I would like to have a 40 upper for my 9 pro lower.
  10. I will volunteer to help you turn some of those thousands of rounds of minor ammo into brass..... free of charge !
  11. I guess I am the only one with a really fussy Mk II Ruger. No matter what ammo, I have nothing but problems with it, very unreliable. The gun is extemely accurate, but the reliability is a deal breaker for me. It has ruined many a steel match. Not sure if anyone else experiences this, but it will not go into battery about 20% of the time, and I have to manually push the bolt forward, usually only a little bit, maybe a 1/16 of an inch.
  12. Look for demos on you tube, very easy to do with a cheap soldering iron or wood burning iron yourself.
  13. Also, you are allowed one optical reticle, that can be used in conjunction with iron sights, such as side mounted optics or irons.
  14. Mine came in the mail today as well.
  15. Smith and Wesson performance center will do trigger jobs on 3rd gen autos. Check them out.
  16. a few local matches permit PCC in steel matches and in a few USPSA matches. They are shot as a different class of their own. I shot with a PCC shooter in my squad at one of these matches, and it had no effect on the match, it did not slow anything down, and did not appear to be a problem to me. It was actually kinda cool to watch and looked like fun. It was interesting to note that this shooter shot faster with his open pistol than with his carbine.....
  17. The front of the magwell hooks into the small bump on the front of the grip. The rear attaches with a small pin that goes through a provided modified grip attachment pin. Install is fairly easy.
  18. If you look up grip stippling on You Tube, there are lots of how to's with different textures and techniques.
  19. You want the one that is going to be most competitive for you to use. Which one do you shoot most accurately at speed (or which one you shoot fastest while being accurate)? Which one is easiest as far as gun control, such as mag changes and operating the gun? Which is most comfortable for you to use and shoot? Since you have used them in matches, which one resulted in the best performance? In the end, no one can tell you which will be best for you except for you.
  20. I used Winchester Super X ammo at a shotgun only match last year and the results were tragic. They locked up both my 11-87 and a buddy's 870. I will never use Winchester ammo again. I had previously used some Federal stuff from Wal-Mart in the bulk packs, and it ran well.
  21. I had been using a 13# spring, but didn't like the way it locked up.... it seemed a little loose and "sloppy". It never malfunctioned and I never had any light strike issues with it, but I like the way the stock weight spring locks up better.
  22. Check gunbroker.com. They usually have several. If they don't have what you want, check back frequently.
  23. My kids have missed so much school they probably won't be done until July. On second thought...... Is this good or bad ???
