  1. Not hard to do yourself, if you want to give it a shot. Plenty of videos on youtube to show you how.
  2. We want to use classifiers so that we can show the new shooters where they would fall in the classification system...
  3. If you had to pick one or two USPSA classifiers as a test to determine if a shooter was competent to shoot matches, which would you pick? Which classifiers do you feel fully reflect most or all of the skills required to compete (speed, accuracy, reloading, moving, etc)? Your input is appreciated...
  4. Cleaning did not work... new, updated sear block ordered from SSS.
  5. Just checked the website... No more M&P mags listed.
  6. I will try to clean it and see what happens. The gun isn't that old, anyone know when the larger spring was introduced? If it happens after I clean it, I will be shipping it back to Smith and Wesson.
  7. Has anyone ever experienced a dead trigger in their M&P Pro? I was shooting yesterday after reinstalling the factory sight to check my zero. Several times (4 or 5 out of 50) my trigger went "dead", nothing was happening, almost as if the striker was not cocked. I new round chambered every time, so the slide moved back far enough to reset the striker. The gun then worked fine after I worked the action and chambered a new round. I went over to a local gunsmith afterwards, and he looked at the gun and found it to be working fine. I have since dry fired it numerous times, and could not replicate the problem. I shot my pistol in a match recently, and it worked fine without a hiccup. The trigger is all factory S&W parts. Any ideas?
  8. Not sure if it is something your interested in, but Ultimak makes a scout mount that replaces the entire upper handguard. I have one and is solid, but requires a forward mounted optic. I am using an eotech on mine.
  9. No worries, they work just fine and drop free. They are smooth on the outside and don't have the ribbing that the p-mags have.
  10. They should let those eight shot revolvers shoot in single stack, with no caliber limit for major for revolvers. I think that this is the venue where the eight shot revolvers would be most competitive. That said, I still don't think revolvers would beat the 1911's.
  11. Just as an FYI, Lancer is a local company here in Pa., and have provided sponsorship and generous prizes for some of our local three gun matches. They support our sport, and Scott is a regular shooter at local three gun matches.
  12. An extension that allows seven rounds in the mag tube will likely go past the front of the barrel. From what I have seen, if you want a mag tube that is even with the barrel, six rounds is going to be just about it. The factory Remington extension for six rounds is even with the barrel. I have a seven round extension that goes past the front of the barrel a few inches on my 18 inch barrel.
  13. Just because production requires the use of "lesser" guns, doesn't mean it is easier. If you want to shoot limited, you may find that it is easier for a new shooter than production. Limited allows you to use higher capacity magazines, which allows you to shoot through a stage without reloading as much. Production requires a good bit of stage planning and break down due to the higher number of reloads required to finish a stage. As far as the gun you decide to start with, you should probably pick the one that you are most comfortable with, both from a feel and financial perspective. I think you will find that you can shoot for years while learning the ins and outs of the sport before equipment will hold you back. Just my $0.02.
  14. I read some reviews of the Troy in the fall of 2012 when I was looking at rifles. Lots of complaints about magazines not dropping free. I liked the gun, but those complaints seemed plentiful when I was researching. Not sure if this was a ploy to get people to purchase only Troy mags...
  15. I have some primers from 1992, still good? Any concerns about using them? They are still in the original packaging.
  16. Before shooting a match, go to your local club and watch a match. Talk to the folks that are there and get answers to your questions. Seeing a match will expose you to typical stages and range commands.
  17. Seems that Smith and Wesson can't keep up with production on current models, let alone new ones, so I don't think demand is an issue for them right now.
  18. I would really like to have a 40 Pro upper to put on my 9 Pro so that I could use the same frame for limited major and minor. If S&W is listening, please sell them !!!
  19. A special thanks to Capt. Danny Milan of the Slidell, La. Police Dept. I caught his article in the last Front Sight magazine, and sent him an e-mail. He was very helpful, and forwarded me their policy for their marksmanship unit.
  20. Interesting to hear that limited is strong in other places.... locally, it seems almost dead with tactical optics being the majority of shooters.
  21. Sorry, that's what I meant..... don't allow single actions.
  22. I think production needs a revamp. No single actions, but if it otherwise fits into a "box" and a particular Max weight, it should be permitted. I also find it odd that lots of internal mods that provide an advantage are allowed, but no external mods. I often thought the IDPA rules made more sense than uspsa rules. 15 rd mags would be lots of fun, too.
  23. Not sure if this is the right place for this, but here goes..... It seems that limited in three gun has taken a down turn in participants. Would anyone be inclined to shoot limited with an unmagnified optic or iron sights on the rifle (like current rules), a pump shotgun, and a production pistol (10 or 15 rd mags)? I think a division like this would be really attractive to newcomers who probably already have this gear. Thoughts?
  24. You know what, that is a good idea....... maybe just use bits and pieces of what is already there in the rulebook.
