Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. +1 here to got a select 16" shoots better than i do with 45,55,69,80. only complaint is the weight , but the price does make it affordable to have reprofiled. mine is one of the early ones with a 3 groove polygonal newer ones have 5. its also stamped LW so could it be a Lothar Walther made for rainier ?
  2. i've only had a SPR-E vfz mount with a leupold 1.25-4 for the last 3 years. the only time it has not return to close zero was when i first got it and had not read the instructions, but recently i built another 16" top and when i went zero the set up it had shifted 3 clicks to the left at 189 yards up and down were still set, so yeah never expect ANY QD mount to return to perfect zero, also all my interaction with the folks at larue has been outstanding. haveing grown up in a similar buisness environ i got to meet people who thought my father was a complete ass, and i've also met even more people that had a genuine respect for him, so just because 4-5 people actively bash someone does not automatically make their product garbage. as Col.PaPa said opinions are like assholes everyones got one some just stink more than others and are also louder
  3. troy alpha are quite useful i have a 13", i like that the holes in the handguard help me grip it so i don't need a handstop , just use a bipod stud in the last hole(muzzle end) at 6 o'clock for a referance to not reach any further
  4. i agree that it would be great to get more people involved especially shooters, but there NEEDS to be something to educate the uninitiated to proper ettiquite on the range ie: no showing your gun off behind the shooting line or drawing your pistol and pointing it toward someone asking them if your grip looks good etc, etc. i have only been shooting IPSC for 4 years and am thank full for the RO's that are made up of the longest duration shooters, and oh yeah i SUCKED for about 2 years but with encouragement and determination i have improved to the point i slightly suck and am seeing improvement. so yes be very afraid of mall ninja's and play station commando's and be intolerant of idiots that will not listen ,but also keep trying to get people you know out to shoot cuz it adds up even if they don't shoot matches it won't hurt the sport to be viewed in a positive light by educating people about the sport and more so exsposing them to correct gunhandling, discounting some GM gettin their game on and squirting their pistol downrange in front of everybody( we still give him crap about that one)but also there is a downside to growth a local tac match that my mentor and i started attending 4 years ago has gone from 1 day a month with maybe 3-5 people showing up to 3 day's with about 7-10 people a day showing up so that can make for a looong day which in the summer is even longer with 90 degree day's and it's been the same match director doing set up and tear down for the last 10 years so we're hpeing that he wo'nt burn out soon

    TEXAS STAR

first time i shot a star was with a 9mm cleaned 4 plates in 4 shots then blew 10 rds to slide lock on the last took the miss, second time with same pistol ran 35 rounds ended with 3 misses, absolutely hated the thing till i got a 40 and now can usually do it in 7 or less rounds average of 6.5 + seconds, shotgun is another matter been using a buddies super 90 M1 w/ 18" barrel star past 20 yards is a no go with #6 shot so after 8 rounds finished it with my pistol can't wait till i get my JM mossie
  6. nope ,durango. and didn't want to be a total name dropper but yeah glen shelby's the man. awesome to watch him spank open shooters with a single stack and a genuine helpful person with beginners. but i am shooting farmington this upcoming weekend yeehaw!!!!!
  7. howdy, been lurking for the last 2 years, shootin IPSC, 3gun for the last 4. am thankful for this resource for both disciplines. have found shooting sports to be one of the friendliest for begginers so far. as the tip for begginers suggest do not be afraid of talking to the better shooters they are a great resource, i am fourtunate that the crowd i shoot with has a world champion(IDPA/CDP),a grandmaster(open IPSC)and several master class (IPSC) and an unaffiliated shooter that keeps up with all of them except the world class shooter, they ALL have been very helpful to us begginers, and my begginer tip is to step up and help with set up, taping, brass picking with out being prompted. the match organizers at least at local level really appreciate it and try to get invited to help with pre-match set up because then you have a better idea of the setup. any how thanks for the resource and access to upper level expierience
