I think we need to have a bouncer at the sign up table to kick out Mike and Charlie before the match even starts!

That's just blatant segregation! Not saying it wouldn't be welcome, but ...

I finally went to the match! My gun and ammo still weren't ready, so pskys2 let me borrow his. I had a great time! Everyone was very nice and welcoming. And to my pleasant surprise, I actually shot fairly well. In particular my accuracy was decent, way higher than I expected given my last attempt to shoot revolvers.

I think I'm hooked. I'll definitely be back!

Congratulations and, now that you admit that you're hooked ... You're DOOMED! DOOMED I tell you! But, have fun.

I have a 1911 with a stiff magazine release.  Should I order a reduced power spring or is it ok to clip coils?  If clipping coils is ok, how many is enough/too much?

Does the mag catch move freely in the frame without the spring installed or is this only an issue with the strength of the spring itself?

Ok, so I "miked" a few 10 yard targets (two of them, and one plate on the Texas Star) at a match last weekend, so I figured it gots to be the gun.

I took it to the indoor shooting range (Shooters World in Tampa) and shot it at 25 yards freestyle, then 10 yards strong hand, and 10 yards weak hand.

The sights must have been off at the match, but got bounced back in place in my shooting bag?

What else could it have been?

    :)

It sounds like you have entered ... The Twilight Zone. Yeah, I know, it would sound a lot better imagining it in Rod Serling's voice.

That is not a bad idea. At least just to try and see what thickness works the best

I mean, if you have some grips in the type of texture you prefer, make an outline of them on cardboard to find the thickness you feel most comfortable with. If this works then maybe try reproducing that level of thickness onto sheet aluminum. The extra weight shouldn't be a concern.

Who makes 1911 grips that are as close as possible to PT Evo grips by size? I am trying to set up my SS gun as close as possible to my Limited gun

Have you thought about using a spacer between the grips and frame made out of the material of your choice?
