Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Problem: Why does the sear not open fully when I pull the trigger to lower the hammer in manual decocking? I can feel the hammer hooks riding on the sear, until it's pushed open and I can lower the hammer. Trigger overtravel screw is backed out all the way not touching the frame. Leaving it a 25% doesn't seem to give less sear-clearing – but does improve SA ? I fear this problem will create premature wear on the hooks. Background: I've had a problem with my Shadow 2 from day 1: Once in a while I couldn't get a hammer drop in DA. The trigger was all the way to the rear, but the sear didn't open enough to clear the hammer. Had to ease of the trigger and apply pressure again for the hammer to drop and get a shot in DA. At this point I had trigger over-travel screw all the way out not touching the frame. Locked with blue Locktite. Problem never came in dry fire or when going fast. Only with live rounds and when shooting slow DA. OK, so I swapped out the original S2 disco and hammer with a pre-B and CZ Competition hammer-combo from my backup gun (SP-01 Shadow) to see the difference: The original S2 disco had clear drag marks on the front (as illustrated with red in photo). It seems that the org. S2 disco got stuck under the sear cage and the frame creating the problem. Read a lot about fitting disco on this forum and carefully polished the pre-B disco and installed in the S2 to see the difference. DA problem went away and I now have a great trigger pull/reset in both SA and DA ? ... but the problem with manual decocking the hammer is still there. Way better than with org. disco and hammer, but I can still feel the hammer hooks riding the sear before it clears. The sear is free to move 1-2 mm to max open position, but the trigger > trigger bar > sear leg doesn't seems to move more than just enough to make SA and DA work. Funny thing: The S2 disco and hammer fits perfectly in the backup SP-01 and it has more clearing on the sear than S2 with the same parts. I can even put the overtravel screw at 50% on that gun. Any suggestions for a fix?
