Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I got a set of Rydons 4 years ago and love them. I need to get a new set before my insurance runs out at the end of the month. I dont remember what my "script" was but I get new data on Thursday. My eye doc let me take my glock into her office so I could get the progressive section in the perfect position so that when I draw/aim , a slight head tilt down and the far vision target is in focus and a slight tilt up and the front sight is in focus-ish. This spot they mark on the lens with a grease pencil gives them the location from the bottom of the lens to position when they "grind" Now need to go find if we still get a discount on them. Last time I bought via the eye docs office and it was over $700 for progressive, photochromic and polarized. I called Rudy and they said I could only order single vision online and that only Docs could order progressive bifocals. The Rudy rep said I could save some money on the new set by ordering the standard Rydon frames with plain lenses at the discount and then at the Docs just order the prescription lenses for that frame.
  2. Welcome. I ordered my CR Speed belt from them in South Africa and at the same time I ordered a Blade Tech Drop holster and mag holders for my Glock 35 rig. I got the CR Speed system from SA in 2 weeks while it took 4 weeks to get my Blade Tech products. Don't believe the 2 weeks lead time they quote. I hammered them at the Shot Show about the slow deliveries. Good system, bad customer service. I would rather have them tell me it will be a month before you see it, instead of always saying 2 weeks! Your mileage may vary.
  3. I wish I could spell.. I tried to edit, but cant May God rest your souls.
  4. There is a Glock Shooting Sports Foundation event 1/23 -1/24 after the Shot Show at the Vegas Police range. I will be there shooting my first GSSF event. Anyone else from here going to SS or shooting this event? GSSF Vegas Event Info I will be working the SS at our Booth Ballistic Advantage - ArmorWorks #8503
  5. I will keep everyone posted as my experiment continues. for taping the other eye, I found these in my research Eye tape Per their site: I will order some and "see"..... I made a funny
  6. Thanks BE. My problem is since I am cross eye dominate the right dom eye tries to take over for my left(no dom) shooting eye with both open. I have tried to open both but its like I am drunk and seeing double. I get two front sites with both eyes open. I have a hard enough time hitting the target with one site
  7. The big issue is when you where Rx with bifocals like me. Shoot Left, right eye dom. As of now I close the right. 50 years of shooting like this and I am not about to change. I am throwing $$ and technology at it to figure it out. I worked with my eye doc (gun in office) and Rudy Project are make some new glasses for me. I will keep testing out Rx lenses until I get something that works. See thead here Rx Bifocals cross eye dom research
  8. Well I have walked my eye doc through the issue. Took my gun into her office and with me sighting out the lobby window to a license plate in the parking lot as the "target". Since its Arizona, there were only a few folks that were nervous She did say this was a first for her practice. Her son and her husband shoot so it was not that far out of an idea for me to ask if I could bring the Glock. We tried using my distance vision correction and added lenses over those so that I could improve the clarity of the sights and still get the target in the best focus. We settled on a compromise correction. I then removed the barrel in Glock 35 and put the slide back on. Then she stood in front of the now barrel less gun and looked at my eye/pupal position with respect to my sights and the new Project Rudy Perception frames Rudy Perception that have the Rx as a separate lens from the changeable outer shields. With me in my stance and the Rudys on, she marked the spot on the lens where the sights line up with my pupal. This measurement was then recorded which places the Rx much higher than what you would get for a normal progressive bifocal grind. I transmitted this to Rudy and they are working with me to supply my new Perception frames with this "test lens". (I will pay the normal price for these with the discount listed on this forum) I will go shoot these and see how it goes. The pros at Rudy are also being consulted on what they think would be the best approach considering I shoot left and I am right eye dom(closed for shooting). I will if I/we come up with a potential different approach, I will by a new set of Rx inserts and try those. I have to say after explaining the dilemma to to the Rudy team, they were very interested in working with me to optimize my chances of getting the best sight picture possible. This shows Rudy's commitment to providing the best possible, most innovative sport optics in the world. Stay tuned for the results.
  9. Welcome Mike. Where are you from?
  10. I do a lot of work with SOCOM/SPEC OPS community in my job. I have run across a George Orwell quote that epitomizes what these guys/gals do. I use it in my signature line. “People sleep peaceably in their bed at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.” –George Orwell This goes out to the brave men and women who gave their lives at FOB Chapman in Khost Afghanistan - Thank you for the unsung work you do everyday in defense of our freedoms. May God rest your soles.
  11. Welcome Hernan. Just got started here too. Hey bulamike whats up with the MD500?
  12. Ranger Thanks for the suggestions. Two issues. 1. I cant even put eye drops in my eyes, contacts are out of the question. 2. I shoot left and I am right eye dominant. with both eyes open, i see two images. I have a hard enough time hitting one target let alone two I have tried at a much earlier time(perfect vision) to use both eyes and it was a lost cause. I am good shooting with left open and right closed, but I want to be better.
  13. Alan Thanks for the low cost suggestions. I want to get dedicated glasses. Dont mind spending the money on something good. I am looking into the Rudy Exceptions Rudy Exceptions that way I can change the outer lens depending on the conditions as well as getting new inserts as my eye site changes. KGentry, Project Rudy Shooting rep on this forum is also offering a big discount on all rudy glasses plano or Rx of 35% plus a really cool P_Rudy hat with an order. See that link here Project Rudy Discount for BEF members
