That's because 9mm bullets are .355, and 929 barrels are usually .357.

Oh, just an fyi. If you're loading for a modern .357 gun, 9mm load data is a good starting place for .38 Short Colt. DO NOT USE 9mm LOAD DATA IN OLD .38 SHORT COLT GUNS.

I shoot .38 Short Colt loaded to 9mm specs in all my .38 Special / .357 guns. So far so good

Mine was doing that. It was the Allen screw at the bottom of the ram. Once I tightened that up, no more rotation.

That's a pretty heavy crimp to me. I don't go that deep.

I've only loaded 10 or 20 thousand .38 Short Colts, so take this with a grain of rice. I load on a Dillon 750 with a bullet feeder and a case feeder. I run a .357 sizing die, 9mm powder funnel, 9mm seating die and a 9mm crimping die. I load mine to an OAL of 1.20 with a .358 160 grain bullet (Blue or Bayou). I'm running a green conversion kit that I drilled out so a .38 Short Colt would fit thru it (it still works fine for 9mm). Keep in mind any 9mm load data will work in .38 Short Colt.

Yes, to me heavier bullets going slower have less felt recoil than lighter bullets going faster. I load 160gr bullets in .38 Short Colt. When I use Win 231 they have more snap then Clays for the same power factor.

Federal FC brass, Federal small pistol primers, TK .035 moon clips, Blue or Bayou 160gr .358 bullets, Clays or Sport Pistol powder.
