  1. PEC, I already ordered a KKM barrel from Brownells. I have a Dillon Square Deal B reloader which is set up to reload .40 S&W. It can't reload bottlenecked cartridges. .40 S&W also makes major in IPSC matches, so I'm sure I'l shoot alot more .40 S&W through it than .357 Sig. I didn't get an OEM barrel, because I'm not sure where to buy one and with all the discussion about higher pressures being developed when shooting lead in polygonal OEM barrels, I felt it was prudent to get a KKM rifled barrel. I had a model 22 years ago and liked it alot. With two calibers to choose from, this should be a very useful pistol. - John
  2. Thank you both for the replies. Its good to know the same springs work for both calibers. I'll check out the points of impact after I get everything set up in .357 Sig. That caliber has to be more zeroed than the .40 S&W and if they impact too far apart, I'll either get another front sight or an adjustable rear sight. All my shots should be under 50 yards with most under 25 in either caliber. I'm leaning toward the KKM barrel, because its a small, family-owned business, but I'm sure any of them would be fine. - John
  3. I've ordered a Glock 31, mainly for hunting coyotes & javelina. I plan to order a .40 S&W barrel for it to practice with and maybe get back into shooting IPSC ("Standard" class, but not "Production"). - Which brand barrel would you recommend between KKM, Storm Lake and Wilson? - Can you really use the same weight recoil spring with both rounds? - What is the average difference in Point of Impact? I really don't want adjustable sights, and would rather swap front sights back & forth if it wouldn't cause undue wear. I used to shoot a lot of IPSC with a Glock 22, so I'm somewhat familiar with them. Any advice or experience you can provide is welcome. Thanks - John
  4. Thanks for all the replies, I get it now. Years ago, I was shooting hard cast bullets from Competition Specialties. Since quality moly-coated bullets look relatively cheap and available, I'm sure I'll be ordering some soon. - John
  5. Thanks for the welcome, Jman. I just found this site and it looks like a great resource so far. Thanks too for pointing me in the right direction. This was about the only topic I hadn't run a search on. Since nothing has changed about Glock barrels, I will probably just use common sense and not worry about it. I might give moly bullets a try if they are priced similarly, but doubt they are necessary. - John
  6. About 12 years ago, I had a Glock 22 with a factory barrel that I fired thousands of lead bullets through. These bullets functioned flawlessy and shot very accurately. I sold that Glock a long time ago and am ready to buy another (a model 31). Reading through the posts on this forum, I see most people seem to think aftermarket barrels are required to shoot lead bullets. Why is this so? Has glock changed their rifling or chamber dimensions? Thanks - John
