Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Oh ya! I was thinking about the 10mm I tried out, and my 625 ... sorry. Definitely be worth getting a hold a few 10mm cases and trying 'em out! FWIW, I've got the same thing ... C&S firing pin ... light-trigger ... .40sw ... but I've got metal clips. IIRC, they offered two thicknesses ... IIRC, I got the thicker ones. But I don't recall ever having trouble with the Rimz ... I just like the way the metal ones feed better. Mine are probably quite a bit older, though.
  2. I bought Rimz, years ago ... nice for the 610 ... not so much for the 625. That led me to try the metal ones for the 610 (I forget where I got 'em now) ... I like those better, now. Anyhow, once or twice, I've gone to the range (just testing loads or goofing off) and forgot moon-clips. I just load it like a .38, and shoot ... no problems. Is there a reason your 610 doesn't headspace on the case-mouth? Anyhow, it's free to try it. I'll guess ya'll have the same problems. Primers seated too deep? Have ya tried any factory ammo, lately? What brand of primers are ya using?
  3. His Dad contacted me about the Ohio Section and the IPSC Nationals matches. I bumped that up, down and sideways through the chain of command. The consensus is that, as long as he follows the same rules as everybody else...then he is good to go. We are making sure that our target sticks aren't too high (so shots impact the berm). That shouldn't really be a problem, since we have some regular monthly shooter that are about his size. I was very happy to read this! I think it's a shame what an immense hold anti-gun propaganda has on even self-proclaimed pro-gun folks. Aside from the obvious, as anyone of any age could, I pray he doesn't have an accident ... such folks would no doubt rally behind such an incident as we've seen similar folks rally behind the likes of Columbine and VA Tech As others have stated, I'd rather shoot with him than some adults I've been around ... irresponsibility, inattentiveness, and in some cases outright stupidity seems to know no age limit. Good luck kiddo!
  4. I used to shoot 158gr American Eagle (federal) LRN ... never seen federal bullets for sale I've loaded tens of thousands of .38's with Trail Boss ... usually pricey powder ... but if you can get it cheap, it's not bad ... don't need much anyhow ... IMR book says 4.2gr for 158gr cast @804fps ... 127pf ... don't know what IDPA requies I understand why ya want LRN, but RNFP are gonna be a lot easier to come by ... if your chambers are chamfered, they should still be pretty good ... have ya ever tried 'em?
  5. that was my point sorry ... "worry" was a poor choice of words ... as my hand is constantly rubbing it, it's distracting ... particularly when I do a mag change
  6. Well I just ordered Monday, and I still haven't ... huh ... hang on, someone's at the door ...
  7. First off, I don't think it matters what's done to Revolver ... no one's shooting it. I used to ... all by myself. I'm not an IDPA guy ... but they now have two categories for Revolver ... is that right? My buddy's favorite revolver is his 627 ... his response to "go buy a 625" is "I'll just shoot Ltd". What exactly would the total damage be, if we were to have major/minor for Revolver as we do for Single Stack? (up to 6rd .40+ is major, and up to 8rd is minor) Everyone who's competitive in Revolver has a 6-shot 610 or 625 already, right? So they don't need a new gun. And, depending on the courses, they have an advantage. Moreover, using aforementioned logic, if they have a 610 or 625, they probably have a 627 laying around.
  8. Depending on the safety, I have inadvertently pushed on the "ambi" side ... not enough to engage it ... but enough to make me wonder if I did ... at which, my preference is to not have one. The only exception would be if I were drawing weak-hand.
  9. So I'm looking at the USPSA rulebook, appendix D6 ... We're talking about the edge of the ejection port closest to the muzzle, right? So it's ok to see the entire ejection port, while holstered? ... plus another 1/2in? Ok ... so I've got a Safariland over/under ... is the "inner side of belt" the over, or under belt? I can see, where if the velcro gives a bit, that distance can change quite a bit, if it's the under belt. I'd guess it's the over belt ... but I can also see someone trying to argue it's the under belt ... and the way it's written, without a cite, who's to say? Also, when measuring distance to the gun ... is that to the outside of the grip-panel closest to the body? ... to the side of the frame closest to the body? ... to the side of the slide closest to the body? ... to the center of the gun? And when checking that the front-strap is above the belt, as the gun may be 2in away, what's done to ensure that the person checking is looking at the correct angle? I mean, someone could squat a little more, and it's legal ... squat a little less, and it's illegal ... right? Again, if the velcro gives a bit, that could also skew it. Anyone actually ever see someone check this? Obviously, this is for a custom holster ... I'm not looking for a link to Safariland's website. And one more ... anyone got a cite that specifies that "wide", "extended" thumb-safeties are ok? Thanks!
