Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. thank you - I will get some pictures on the tread - been awhile - but I know its not rocket science - I guess progress has left these models behind - I mean I was reading on the sig forums and someone was selling a sig L1 and someone else asked what was an L1 - and a few other people said ya whats an L1 and then someone answered - the new people are only familar with what sig is now offering - when I handle the gold team I like it - but out of what I own - its the least useful for my ordinary use -
  2. Okay so like a few years back I bought the 9mm custom gold team race gun new - and of course those were having problems with mags so I sent the gun to canyon creek - and he coverted it to 38 super - I let him have the 9mm barrel - henning did some deal with him on a barrel - and it ended up with a tang super 38 barrel - now then since I was not going to use it in competition I did not have the new barrel drilled out - I was thinking less blowback - then I bought 5 special super 38 mags from henning - then the top mount and a c scope - the number 6 seems to be in my memory. I think at that point in time I had 2200 into the project. I use to try and shoot balloons tied to strings - on a friends property that had some land - I didn't do it much - gun is like new because I had a heart problem and finally a heart attack - and I lost interest in stuff for awhile - lol - and then the friend moved away - and I live in a city so -- I think I remember that it was a big concern about how the lugs wore on these guns - well I can tell you mine are still shiny when I put it away - I took it out and changed the battery in the c scope last year - lol - but it remains in its safe place - do I digress? -- anyway I like it but have no need for it and while I realize the conversion to 38 super was on me as far as price goes - I was wondering what these guns go for in near new conditon as mine is - I looked in the classifieds here for about 20 pages and could not find anything similar - so I have nothing to go by except what some of you more in the know can tell me. at the same time I realize time has moved on and improvements have been made in the line of guns now sold - but what would be a general number for me trading this - I think thats what I would like to do if it makes sense - trade for something more practical - (please note at no time did I consider buying a red convertable) - I am not worried about making a buck but would like to have a fairly equal trade value - on something like a sti or wilson or something else in 38 super since I have the plenty of that - I thank you for your help - if the gun is hardly worth anything thats okay - I can leave it for family to inherit.
  3. Rock, not to highjack the thread but to answer you directly, this was exactly what caused me to have a "moment" when I received the 9mm mags from EAA (the nine is now a 38super), at any rate, the quickest fix is to return the mags to EAA, they didn't argue any points with me, just kind of a shut up and return them and they were nice enough to even return the initial shipping money the first time, not the second time. anyway contact Henning Wallgren or go to his website and see what he has to offer to, spend a bit of money and get something that will not cause you "moments". I have not had any moments with the gold team since I got the mags from Henning. goodluck.
  4. do not use inbox.com -- full of malware/spyware - slithers right into your various places -- find one like gmx.com (not great but works for the purpose) - sig forum will accept it - I think the issue of pm is confused with email -- in the profile you can post your email and people can contact you - for the more parnoid puppies who don't post their email - they will usually contact you if you ask them to regarding something they are selling - gmx is free so you can just have that set up with Dash RipRock for a name if you want to use for sig forum if your running ads - otherwise once you have joined you can just contact the person from yahoo or hotmail and they will have your real email address you use most of the time - or your secondary one.. I think its worth the effort to just have access to the classifieds.
  5. five of clubs - don't feel bad - I contacted Gurney today and told him I had been thinking about buying something during the discount weekend and I whined and pleaded - and asked him if he would honor the price from the weekend because I did not know it was a one shot deal -- but I have heard nothing back -- so its almost time to start listening to simon and garfunkels "sounds of silence" Hello darkness, my old friend, I've come to talk with you again, Because a SIG softly creeping, Left its seeds while I was sleeping, And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence. In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone no new SIG to call my own 'Neath the halo of a street lamp, I turned my collar to the cold and damp When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon SIG That split the night And touched the sound of silence. addendum: in all fairness Gurney did contact me this morning - it was a glitch - the prices now set are wholesale prices for the year 2010 - what the wholesalers set price as is beyond control - everybody must abide. guess this is one dead thread.
  6. sorry guys - just thought - Everybody knew - yes the doors were on my mind Now Everybody Knows is on my mind - from leonard cohen - "Everybody knows that you've been faithful Ah give or take a night or two Everybody knows you've been discreet But there were so many people you just had to meet Without your clothes = fantastic song. anyway google buds gun shop - handguns - ja so dann klicken Sie auf das sig Emblem, und Sie können für sich selbst sehen, der Knospen zurzeit die besten Geschäfte auf sigs jeder On-Line-Seite anbietest, die ich gefunden habe - wenn Sie besser finden können, auf alle Fälle teilen es mit der Ruhe von uns. - lol WELL NEVER MIND - APPARENTLY IT WAS ONE OF THOSE THINGS BUDS DOES AND IT WAS JUST FOR THE WEEKEND SO UNLESS YOU GOT AN EMAIL TO THEM SAYING YOU WOULD TAKE IT - YOUR S OUT OF LUCK - ALL PRICES ARE WHAT THEY WERE ON FRIDAY -
  7. All the new sigs at BGS have been significantly reduced in price! I mean like an x-five L1 for two grand. Following stocks - there was a clip from one of the few gun makers who offer stock here in the states - and the feeling of the professionals following this stock was - the market has peaked - the back orders are being filled the ammo is available - the scare is over - in other words sell you gun stock shares. It wasn't about sig (privately owned)- but one can see the connection - if the market is slowing down reduction in price will follow - anyway - for what ever reason - the prices are down and I just wanted to share that for all of you that just needed a little nudge. I did not check other gun maker prices - which I have not been following enough to have prices burned into my brain.. checking sig sauer site - No price reductions are noted for anything?
  8. gee - it never entered my mind to dump my problem on to someone else - karma is not just a word is it? given the fact that I bought the cheapest 9mm gold team I could find new to begin with and they have since gone up 200 from the same web site - I feel that the 200 for a new 38 barrel was a give me - I would have had to pay for mount and scope anyway - and I would have had to pay for some good mags from henning anyway - and so the only extra - was the work done by rich - and it was nice to meet him and do business with him. and the gun is very nice to shoot - and theres a lot to be said for 38 super which I would not have known about had the nine been running perfect - so much so that I will not hesitate to buy a 38 super in the future if something comes along that I am interested in - short take - in life its no good thinking I would have done this differently or that differently - if that had been the case I would have run away with my high school librarian (well if I could have talked her into it) - and lived a quiet life reading books and saying "yes dear." in stead of the hell and back deal.. I am glad to hear there is a cheaper fix for those that have nines - sounds like a great idea actually - and I think it was good to share something useful for all the other 9 guys that don't have the cash to throw at the problem.
  9. bringing you a little more art to the topic - straight out of germany.. anscheinend ist Säure in Deutschland gesetzlich http://www.sigsauer.de/index.php?id=691〈=en honestly - I was only looking for some silver base mag pads - and I stumbled onto this instead --
  10. the end of the saga - gun back from canyon creek custom - its now a 38super - henning thought he had a briley barrel for it but did not - so the money went to rich - who thought he had one because henning had just sent some to him - but rich did not have one and so in the end I think it ended up with a tanfoglio match barrel -- rich was good on turn around time and he tweaked some things for me -installed a henning slide stop pin. also gave me added side ports on the compensator - free -- I had requested the barrel not be ported -- so I guess it's a V6 now -- rich fired it everything works - and as you all know - its really cold out and I am in the belly of the beast here so I have not rushed out to shoot it - lol - when its cold like this - its time for cable and a phone call to jimmy johns --- I want to thank both rich and henning for taking the time to talk to me and giving good information for future use...
  11. people - I hope you do understand this was tongue in cheek humor -- the reality is of course sig has to try to continue to make money for the people who own it - and thus must venture into other markets besides black gun territory - some of these radically different color schemes are not gonna fly - but thats how they learn through trial and error - and most of the models on the page are showing innovation - I would never put down a sig on a sig forum - that would be like saying something bad about your mother... most of these on this page are of interest...
  12. warning - do not open this new products page at sig sauer I just came across moments ago unless you have a strong stomach for pistol debauchery http://www.sigsauer.com/Products/ShowCatalogNewProduct.aspx its late - its winter - its cold out - I had to think if its was april fools day some of these are amazingly shockingly butt ugly - I know I was just talking about bling being a personal matter but yea gads man - if you pulled some of these out - people will run just from how it looks ------------- hang down your head tom dooley ---- its late at night - just me and the dog yet the horror oh the horror - knowing people will laugh -- will we become closet sig owners? in the tradition of the renaming something - will these become known as sick sauers? excuse me please - but - its enough to send a man howling out into the snow.... but maybe its just me - but I don't think so -- I think the price of old sigs just went up...

    X-5 Lube

from what I have read - which is the greater value - experience or opinion -- all the people who shoot a lot in competition seem to suggest that grease/lube is the way to go - that it builds up and softens the recoil - but it takes a lot of cleaning to get it off after the fact - there are so many opinions about gun oil - if its sheer conditioning and rust proofing - eezox seems to come in first with corrosion x coming in second - I don't shoot anywhere near enough to warrant grease/lube - but I know I have bought used mags that had rust on them and corrosion x - got rid of it and has kept it away - and the barrels were easier to clean - something I read even suggested that the corrosion x increased the speed of bullet departure from barrel - I use corrosion x because I saw that true value hardware stores on the west coast stocked it - and made a call to a local true value here in the heartland - and he said he could order it - now he carrys it -- eezox was not going to be that easy to find - the corrosion x spray can be sprayed into little bottles with the spray tube they include - I am able to fill small bottles with enough for single application use - I guess with a big date you want the 90 dollar cologne - but for just a night out the old spice is fine - lol and lets not forget to give a shout out for Brian Enos's slide glide (from hennings custom site) When you care about performance you start taking care of your weapon in every possible way. The best way to ensure reliability is to lube your slide, barrel and frame to reduce friction. Brian Enos' Slide-Glide is top-of-the-line lubricant you soon cannot live without. addendum - http://www.6mmbr.com/corrosiontest.html - for those interested - I guess eezox is available from midway - I have never smelled it but some say its too strong for cleaning inside the house
  14. basically I understand that this forum is for real shooters that want a dependable shooting gun -- and sig offers that - however there is also probably a market for pretty guns - pimp guns - or bling guns - what ever you want to call them -- I would think its similar to women who are not just satisfied with a big clump of gold on a ring or chain - they want it designed to highlight their eyes or something like that - do we judge women based on the type of jewelry they wear - and is it politically correct to judge a man by the bling he shoots? lol I think the reality is outcome based - does the projectile care how it arrived to where it was aimed at? does the target say "but that was a bling gun that hit me" - a man gets a harley or truck and then tricks it out in all different kinds of way - some are to make it run better but at least half are about bling - so I would think the same holds true for a gun -- aftermarket is a billion dollar industry in itself -- now not to hijack my own thread but -- I ask a question -- do the rest of you approach gun buying like car buying (truck suv whatever) - do you see something for sale and try to save 20 or 50 or whatever - or do you just buy brand new what they want price - there seems to be a monopoly on the market - they know people are not going to usually buy from some lone individual across statelines even if it seems like a great deal -- the web sites hold the line even on used - I might email with an offer and have some luck but most of the time I don't even receive an email back - such glowing reports from previous buyers - but no doubt previous buyers that paid the full amount asked for - because it seems to me if you offer lower - they ignore you -- yet two months later the gun you made an offer on is still there - I don't know if they will end up like the car industry and get a bite in the ass == I am sorry for any of you who made a living selling cars and now don't - but after a lifetime of dealing with car dealers who just had to suck the last 20 out of your pocket I don't shed many tears for dealerships that are now dealing with that reality of karma coming back on them -- so I don't know if the same will happen to big gun sellers -- but a 30 or 40 percent mark up on a used gun seems a bit greedy -- yet there's more at the door waiting - where can you actually find a site that sells refurbished sigs - that actually has them in stock - wish list city is thriving - There was at one time so many web sites devoted to buying a used car - but heres what I found - show up with cash money in hand - but this does not work with used guns - you might save a tiny amount - but hardly ever WOW moments - there is only really one WOW moment used gun seller on the net - and you all know who it is -- you just have to type the first four letters on their name on google and its the top hit everytime -- I would like to see more such places - and I would like to see an end to backloading (shipping insurance etc - why can one place get your new gun to you for 20 and another needs 50? and before I step down from the podium I would like to give a shout out for world peace ---- to me its a real shame that more people do not research and find out more about pricing - this allows different sellers to continue to gouge buyers while smiling and telling them what a great deal they are getting just like the majority of car salemen did. ya I know I am preaching to the choir here - thank god you have all been proactived in learning the ropes early - at least the line is being held where its at ... about bling - where are the damascus steel sigs? http://www.peterdyson.co.uk/acatalog/S617.PISTOL.%20800.JPG
  15. heres something to consider http://www.snopes.com/sports/baseball/ellis.asp it seems strange now but I can remember times in the service that I could actually sleep standing up in the dark - not for long periods of time but for 15 - 20 seconds -- and I recall in the book An American in the Gulag - that the guy was being deprived of sleep and would purposely make his tormentors slap him out of his chair just so he could sleep on the way to the floor - and charles lindbergh had to keep his eyes propped open with his fingers and thumbs for a long period of time when he was doing the spirit of st louis thing over the atlantic and going without sleep for 36 hours - without sleep and hearing a gregorian chant at the edge of my reality - it would just be too weird to try and shoot - for me at least sleep is like a narcotic - and when your needing it nothing else seems to matter -- I would reconsider trying to shoot when really laid low from lack of sleep -- for the safety of others.
