  1. This morning I lucked out and was able to buy several cases of ammo.

On the way home I stopped at the gas station and this drop dead gorgeous blond was filling up her car at the next pump.

She looked at the ammo in the back of my car and said in a very sexy voice, “I’m a big believer in barter, big boy.

Would you be interested in a trade of sex for ammo?”

I thought it over for a few seconds and responded……

”Well, just what kind of ammo have you got to trade?”

  2. They do work really well. Just a word of caution, When I use lead wax coated bullets they would jam up the loader. Since then I only use copper platred or similar bullets and it works great.. A few thousand rds through it and not a problem!

Spraying the inside of the loader with silicone and letting it dry, before loading may solve the lead wax coated bullet issue.

    It has for me.

As always - your results may vary !

  4. So I was at the West Coast Steel Championships a few weeks ago and saw one of the Ruger sponsored shooters blazin' with his 10/22. On each of his magazines, he had a bottom plate that I can best describe as the sort of accessory that Magpie would make if Magpie made 10/22 accessories. It was basically just a round loop on the bottom of his magazines. I should have asked him what they were, but I figured I'd just go home and find it at Midway or Brownells. No such luck. Anybody have ideas? I'd really like to get some for my Ruger!

I'm curious to find out what they are as well.

  5. I got a new dog to guard our house.

It was a little more than I thought I should pay but I think when word gets out we'll be a relatively crime free neighborhood.

The nice part is he is a year old and already fully trained.

For your safety please call the house from the driveway and in the safety of your car!

  6. 22's in cold weather can be a pain.

May I suggest to try the following.

Clean your mags and barrel chamber - the wax lube on 22's can slow things down.

Use a light oil on the slide in cold weather.

    And you'll love this -

Keep your mags in your pocket with a hand warmer between stages.

    Hope this helps

  7. Just curious if anyone out there on the forums has tried these mags lately? Looking for feedback...I know deburred and shined isn't 'tuned' but it's not a bad place to start, especially for same money.

Joe - Welcome to The Forums.

I bought the Thunder Mountain STI Mags - that I asked about in the original post.

My thoughts when I bought them, were the same as yours.

The Mags were received as stated - deburred and to some degree polished.

However - the mags did require Tuning.

Two of the three mags the follower sat above the lips of the tube.(the follower would not go down in the tube)

So I bought the Dawson Mag Tuning Kit.

Interesting enough - Dawson does not address this issue in the video. :surprise:

I solved the issue by comparing and measuring mags that I had that were correct,

and used them for reference to correct the problem.

I recently bought STI mags from another vendor - some of these mags had the same issue.

My suggestion is this - Buy your mags from a vendor that will accept returns and will exchange them

    for you.

I don't think it is unresonable to think that if you are buying mags that have been polished and deburred, that the followers would go down in the tube. They just had them apart.

It is unfortunate that there is an issue with STI's quality Control on Mags.

If you receive Mags that you cannot load - because the follower will not go down in the tube-

    Send them back -

Or join the ranks of us who have learned to Tune them yourself. :roflol:

    Hope this helps.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but *most* (if you used grahams guts), followers won't go down into the tube. You have to file a bevel on the underside of the tab that sticks out and causes the slide to lock back. Or you can file/sand that little tab right off if you don't want them to stick or lock back.

I've never seen a follower that when inserted in the bottom of the mag tube, won't go back down, except for that little slide release tab being an issue, and as mentioned, almost all mag tubes require that, tuned or not...

    Alan

    Alan,

Perhaps I was not clear in my explanation.

The bottom of the front of the follower was riding above the mag lips.

I have seen this on a number of my new STI maqs and a few other shooters New mags as well.

The lips of the mag body are too wide at the front and allows the follower to come above the front of the tube.

This may not be common, but I have seen it on 5 New mags.

    Hopes this helps.

  9. One of the best pieces of sound engineering work I have seen. It is a composite audio/video of the song whereby additional tracks were laid in by different singers and musicians from different places around the world. The finished product is tremendous!

The song itself is that classic standard "Stand By Me" originally released in 1955 by The Staple Singers and released again in 1961 by the Drifters.

    Link Stand by me

    Enjoy !
