Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I tried when I saw it. Guess i'll have to contact a mod?
  2. +1 for powder funnel. Have used the old style ptx and new style ptx from hornady for 45 Acp. I have a match barrel with a very tight chamber. Both ptx made the press run very rough in order to get the proper flare to keep from shaving lead and still I would shave some lead and crush cases with my plated rounds. In fact the old style ptx only expanded with no flair. Powder funnel makes nice flair so I can seat my rounds without shaving lead and the press runs oh so smooth now. If I had bought the powder funnel first it would have saved a lot of headaches and wasted components.
  3. uhh should have had a .9 after the 4.......
  4. Just be sure when you get any lower than that you change recoil springs. Had some bad funky action when pushing some minor loads through my 21sf. that machine is made to be run hard.
  5. Yep. With all my time on that Lee I thought I really knew what was going on. I was really surprised how much it has taken to make that hornady run.
  6. and i just saw the new style ptx.....i may get that one too. for $7 i cant go wrong.
  7. I formerly was using an M&P 45 and a Lee Classic Turret, Had used that combination for a long time and had all the kinks worked out. Very very rarely had any FTF or FTE. The only problem I ever had was when i decided to change recoil springs. So after using this pair for so long i decided to drink the kool-aid and buy a Glock 21sf and a Lnl. Glock because i use one as my duty weapon, 45 cause i like the cartridge and have reloaded it for so long, and the Lnl to speed ammo production. Also switched from primarily lead to a mixture of plated and lead due to my local indoor range not allowing lead. So I buy my press, my gun, and a Lone Wolf barrel for lead. So i start loading on the press and start to have problems with the ptx and it dropping consistent charges. Also my rounds aren't fitting in my case gauge because of shaved lead and bulged cases due to improperly set up ptx. also my plated rounds were barely cycling the slide. one match day shot because of it. So i fix my ptx, load some more, test with my buddies chrono, life is good. Cases are fitting in the case gauge, etc. First stage my rounds with clays are barely cycling the gun, light loads again. No problem i switch to some i had loaded with WST and i know that they'll be hot enough. well after a few more FTF and FTE i give up for the day. one of the guys there says extractor problems maybe call Glock. i go home and disassemble the gun, see that ive got a fair amount of lead build up in the chamber from chambering lead rounds with shaved lead on the case mouth which i think is probably responsible for some of my problems. all the rounds fit in the case gauge but must have had some extra crap on them. So i order my powderfunnels universal expander and its on the way. two match days now down the tubes. But lessons learned. properly FLARED case = no shaved lead = no lead deposits in an already tight chamber. If you change too much at one time it WILL bite you in ass. Now for cold beer and football.......and contemplating whether i buy a lone wolf extractor or not.......
  8. Any specific reason your using them? They look awfully expensive.
  9. have the lnl and now have blue press envy. My old roommate had a 650 and it was good to go as soon as he got it set up. Have had lingering problems with mine, so much so that i almost believe that i loaded faster on my lee classic turret after we became one.......
  10. Just tested some 230 gr Xtreme plated with 4 grains of WST at 1.23 OAL. Produced anywhere from 780 to 800 fps out of an almost brand new lone wolf barrel on my glock 21sf. pretty snappy but nice.
  11. Had the same experience. Just started using Plated along with my lead rounds. I was really surprised how much slower the plated were than lead with the same load of Clays. I've always heard the same load for both but obviously I'm not the only person who had that problem. On the other side i used the same load for lead and plated using WST and virtually no difference.
  12. I've used 4.4 grains at 1.23 OAL out of my old M&P 45 and had great results but ultimately changed to 3.8 grains of Clays due to me using lead and Titegroup + Lead = smoke screen. Good for the Ninja disappearing act, not so good for seeing where your shooting. If your bonded bullets have an exposed lead base you'll see what i mean. Not unbearable but was but got old for me.
  13. Not sure how much experience you have reloading but I have had a similar problem with Clays with plated rounds. It was due to me using unfamiliar equipment. Switched from a Lee Classic Turret that i had used for years to a Hornady LNL. I had messed up the settings on my powder through expander and was bulging cases, inconsistent loads, etc. I was Shooting 3.7 Clays at 1.23 OAL and was producing anywhere from 560 to 630 fps and had a tremendous spread. I fixed my expander depth and discovered what that odd shaped piece of metal that came with my press was (the powder baffle......instructions are good....). Changed to 4.0 and had a consistent 730 fps. The biggest difference I think was the proper size of my case, taper crimp and all around a better produced round which gave me the results I was looking for. Please also take into account that WST is a temperature sensitive powder and may be contributing to your results. Just my $.02. Lemme know what you find out.

    G21 mag pouches

I'm not on glocktalk, I'm assuming he doesn't have a website. Can you post a picture of what they look like. I don't think you have to be a member to see it, so here's a link (pics are in the ad): http://glocktalk.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=24889&title=kydex-magazine-holders&cat=8 Here's his email address, he usually responds pretty quickly. tacticalkydex@bellsouth.net ETA: . Got 4 for my 1911 and 2 more for my g21.... I love Comp-Tacs stuff so dont get me wrong there but the quality of Mitch's stuff is as great if not more so and a $20 for a double or two singles you absolutely cant go wrong. I'll never buy a magazine pouch from anyone else.

    G21 mag pouches

How did you configure your CR Speed to accept G21 mags? I'd like to know the same, can't see it working without sanding the hell outta the inside...
