Did you check your brass? Instead of getting the throat reamed you may be able to simply resize your brass. Redding has one of these as does Lyman. Check them out. Redding's G-RX resizing die is around $70 for the carbide version. also check out this link. That has been my experience when I first started reloading the 40. The extra thousandth of an inch for lead bullets wasn't my problem. Also a chamber checker from EGW (Elite Gun Works) has been very helpful to me.
