I am reviving my single stacks for the NC State match and would rather not also revive my reloading for one match. Can anyone point me in the right direction for some reliable factory or remanufactured ammunition that will make major and run in my Trojans? I was looking at trying the Federal Syntech 165gr but would like to hear if it's any good. I'm not too hung up on a particular bullet weight, I just want to make major and not eat an excessive amount of recoil. I appreciate any advice that can be offered.

This is a very interesting topic and certainly one that is good to discuss. It seems that we may be in a similar position in our sport as golfers are on the PGA tour. Even with all the officials they have, the slow-paced nature of their game and all the TV coverage (normally reserved for the leaders), they will have a rules violation from time to time. The first line of responsibility is on the player violating the rule but the immediate secondary responsibility falls on his/her playing parter(s). I've heard it stated that each and every player is responsible for the integrity of the game and the "protection" of the field from any rules violations. Much like our sport, the vast majority of rules violations in golf are unintentional but you would not have golfers on tour protecting their buddies from "the man". They have a responsibility to protect the rest of the field from any unfair advantage anyone might gain. IMO, we should approach this situation in the very same way. Regardless of a shooter's intent, any violation of the rules should be brought to the shooter's attention and, if need be, rectified with the match staff. Expecting the match staff to catch all violations is unrealistic and trying to absolve the rest of the shooters any responsibility is just a convenient "shirk" of duty. As much as none of us want to be labelled "snitches", we can't view the responsibility of ensuring compliance by everyone in the field as a dirty duty reserved for whiners and losers. Everyone should exercise utmost integrity in their conduct at a match and hold all other shooters to the same standard.

Does anyone have pictures of the frame relief required? I just bought a new CK Arms in 9mm and have 3 brand new SV mags with TTI parts. Would really like to make these mags work if at all possible. Edwin

mike NM, I appreciate the info...I hadn't even considered getting it fixed. A very reputable firearms manufacturer here identified the slide as cast metal but I failed to ask him if he thought it could be repaired. I was probably distracted by the overall experience.

I could tell right off the bat that they weren't going to back their product. Their first question was if the sight installer was theirs or not. There was not any excessive force going on when this happened....I have run into that on a couple of slide/sight combos and just hit the sight with emory cloth to ease installation. Right after the slide cracked I took the same Heinie sight and installed it in my factory 17 slide. The slide definitely looks over-cut in that area but they weren't even interested in seeing it in person before telling me that there was nothing wrong with the slide. This kind of customer service is unaccepetable.

I've installed close to 100 rear sights with my Glockmeister sight pusher and never had an issue. Last night I finally received a speed rail lightened slide from Lenny Magills Glock Store (waited 3 months for delivery after being told just "two more weeks" several times). Didn't even get the Heinie rear sight 1/4" in and heard a snap. After several calls with the glock store, they say that the sight installer is at fault. Hmm, I guess their slides aren't as strong as every other aftermarket slide available. Now I have a $325 paper weight and an obligation to let everyone know about my experience.

I was recently given the advice to add some weight to my M2 in order to smooth out the recoil and improve the feel. I was able to add 14oz of lead in the buttstock and looked to put 3-4oz in the end of the tube to balance it out. Does anyone no of any 3-gun rules that don't allow external weights on the shotgun? I've read through the 3-gun Nation rules and didn't see anything specific. The rules stated that internal and external modifications were allowed provided that they didn't change the function of the gun. Rather than try to craft something that would fit inside the tube I thought about casting a lead weight that I could attach to the end of my magazine tube using the hole in the end. Any thoughts or better recommendations? Thanks

Good to know and I appreciate the replies. I suspect that the previous owner knew this but didn't mention it. When I asked he said that the internals may be a little worn but that doesn't pass the sniff test becuase there is no way that you could fit 22 rounds and not get them jammed under those channels.

I recently purchased a P18 from a forum member and it came with 4 mags, all of which have Dawson basepads. The previous owner stated they were 22 round magazines and they will indeed hold 22 rounds...the only problem is the bottom 2 rounds get hung up below the vertical channels at the bottom of the magazine and lock up the mag. I loaded just 18 into the mag and everything seemed fine until I gave it a little thump on the basepad, thus hanging up a round under the channel. Has anyone experienced this and is there a fix? Wow...I've been in this game for awhile and I have never seen an "auto-eject" of every mag on a belt all at once! I can't say I feel your pain because I think your situation is one of the most unique I can think of so I have no frame of reference! On the subject of getting moved to open...I think that rule is a crock of $h!t and makes no sense whatsoever. Yes, a magazine in the front pocket violates the rule of having one past the limit but there is certainly no advantage gained from reloading from your front pocket. Additionally, if they can't let that rule go, at least amend it to say "at the start signal". That way when all of your mags jump out of their pouches, and your are already down quite a few seconds, at least you don't have to think about some stupid rule that isn't in the least practical and you can get on about your stage. In a real situation where I dropped a mag I needed, I would do exactly what you did without a second thought. I understand some of the principles of the rule but I think that the enforcement takes the "practical" right out of the competition. I like the fact that you threw that mag in your pocket rather than try to re-insert it in a mag pouch and you obviously didn't gain an advantage on the rest of the field...unless we all lost our entire collection of mags on the ground!

I think Max could take this one. He has won the national title in the "pinnacle" of the sport in open where a transition between targets could mean the difference in 1st or 2nd. However, Dave brings the experience of "aiming" with an absolute purpose from all of his production experience, showcased by his single "D" in last year's SS nationals. TGO is hands-down the best shooter in the sport, which is why he continues to win, but his mobility is the only limiting factor to his continued dominance. At the end of the day, I'm still going to hope for another TGO victory!

Well except for the IPSC, which is International, has 3-Gun and is doing a 3-Gun World Shoot in 2012 or 2013 (can't remember which). I know IPSC 3 Gun isn't real 3 Gun. But there is an international body. Well, if it isn't "real 3 gun" then there is no international governing body. That would be a "puppet regime"!

I have to resurrect this thread for a short time to ask this....the Wilson mags, both .40 and 10mm, are listed as "standard basepad" for use without a magwell...is there a different mag for magwells or is that a misprint? I am in the same position of figuring out what mags to go with.

Is there still not an Iron-Sights division in the USPSA rules? I have never been to a match that allowed optics in the irons division and I wouldn't rely on irons if I had any type of optic on the gun.

Does anyone know if there is a limit on the number of front sight posts you can have in the iron sight division? I am thinking of running a larger flip-up front post on my handguard for close targets (I have a bbl band front sight right behind the comp as the primary sight). I am using a .070 fiber front and it's too small for close targets but great for the 300+ shots. I couldn't find anything in the rules that stated you could only have one front post and the way I see it, it's just like having short/long range apertures on the rear sight. Can anyone tell me if the M1 factory pistol grip will fit on the M2. I have the comfort tech stock now but I ran the M1 so long with the PG stock that I want to go back to it. I am a lefty so it works really well with my loading style. If the M1 doesn't work are there any suggestions for an alternative? Thanks, Edwin

Good fun to be had by all...even if things did get a little wet! I really appreciate everyone that worked so hard at the match and certainly enjoyed the challenges that were provided. Rockcastle is a really nice "natural terrain" playland! A special thanks to all of the wonderful sponsors that make a match like this possible. The list was huge and the prize tables were the largest I have ever seen! Squad 14 was full of great guys to shoot with and hang out with. The Adam's Arms boys were a hoot. I would like to know how well their piston system held up to the all out assault on stage 6. Not sure how many people ended up shooting that stage, but with each one firing 30rnds through that rifle, that's a lot of shooting for one gun in just a few days! One more question....does anyone know if the M1 carrier is the same as the M2?

I got ahead of myself last night and decided to take the dremel tool to my M2 shell carrier. I should have done some more research because I have probably now ruined the carrier and have a 8 days before BRM3G!! Does anyone know where I can find a replacement? Brownells is out until the 28th. If I can't find one I have a shop that can weld the old one and I can play the angles game to get the gun to run. Does anyone know what kind of metal that thing is made of? Thanks, Edwin

I am thinking that the springs could be catching down low and causing that drag. I haven't had that problem before but it seems to fit the situation, rather than assume I have a bunch of bad mag springs. Every now and then the mags run fine...but they are either running extremely weak or hanging up somewhere. This is why I shot production for so long...I hate it when the gun doesn't work!

I have been running arrendondo basepads on my G22 mags and it's not going well...I use the Wolf +10% springs but they are not maintaining enough tension after just 1 or 2 loadings. I even started stretching the springs after each stage I still had multiple failures to feed. I've got two questions: 1. has anyone else had this problem? (especially recently since I have run this setup before without issues and suspect a bad batch of springs) 2. Has anyone had better results with other springs? Thanks, Edwin posted from my iPhone
